What is her email address? Will give it a shot myself too.
Offtopic. Just registered, been following this for couple of days now and posted few times as Finfag Razz
Edit: Tried Rei Numitorova for junko.junsuiSPLATmail.ru, didn't work for that address.

That is totally strange, because the question is in English. So, I guess you are supposed to use it, keeping in mind that you don't now Russian.

The question is in Russian for me. Was there an option on the mail.ru main page to change the site language to English?

All I did was click the small link to the right of the lower text field, assuming that, like every other site, it'd be a "Lost your password?" link. I get this:

Шаг 1. Ответьте на секретный вопрос:
Прозвище лучшего друга или подруги

EDIT: kadomony has a good point. Besides, what good would this be if by answering the question all it did was sent a new password to the e-mail address linked to the mail.ru one? That'd get us nowhere.

If the question and website are in russian, wouldn't it make more sense if the password was typed in the cyrillic alphabet, instead of the latin?

Well I don't need to, considering I know what it translates to from previous posts in the thread. What I was getting at is how come it's in English on the site for one person, but not for me? We're trying English answers to the question because of that, but maybe we should be answering in Russian?

well you definitely NEED to, because the secret question either got changed, or you got the wrong email.
because the secret question now is:
best friend's nickname

Copy/pasted straight from the website:

Восстановление пароля почтового ящика junko.junsuiSPLATmail.ru

Шаг 1. Ответьте на секретный вопрос:
Прозвище лучшего друга или подруги

then the question got changed.
It is namely "Nickname of best friend"
involves male and female best friends.

so there you go.
use a translator. or at least cooperate with the russian /b/
