Why do I have the feeling that whoever runs this game is just posting tatally senseless things and is probably laughing at all those people that are trying to find some meaning in all those messages, emails, songs, images, runes and video links.

Since The Junsui have pretty much said so, I think that is a distinct possibility.

And exporting it back out in Fireworks gives approximately the same size.

So, you don't think this could possibly be a clue? Someone said that the maximum size of such image must be 4.5 Mb.

That in turn reminds me about The Beatles - I am the Walrus.

Quoted from Wikipedia: "Lennon received a letter from a pupil at Quarry Bank Grammar School, which he had attended. The writer mentioned that the English master was making his class analyse Beatles lyrics. Lennon, amused that a teacher was putting so much effort into understanding The Beatles' lyrics, wrote the most confusing lyrics he could."

PNG is a lossless image format and using it for compressing regular photos will result in big files. Nothing special about that.

Yeah, I went over it with the standard things of changing the extension and opening it in Notepad++ to find nothing, and MediaInfo just said it was a PNG.

I confirm, uncompressed image of this size is about 28Mo, just 5Mo with PNG losless compression.

No meta data, no hidden file/text.

One thing is without question - this ARG started with high quality content, and quickly was reduced to low quality Facebook posts.

Until I see some higher quality content (a second wave), I will consider this thing dead.

It reminds me of playing old school Dungeons & Dragons with a 12 year old Game Master that has no clue.

Well, remember this is a cult that is based on solar/lunar events. Something has to be posted until the next event to keep people interested.

It would seem the captains have their orders to *ahem* "disinform" (haha), disrupt, and destroy.

I suppose we ought to be wary. For those of you still trying to actually wring some meaning from any of this, I think the best course of action right now would be to try and separate any new information (from 2 hours ago onward) and try to figure out whether it's deliberately misleading or not. Personally I think the livejournal things are going to be dead ends, but since they were from before that message I could be wrong. At any rate, I think the quickest way to differentiate meaningful from meaningless is to figure out who the captains are and ignore anything they say (of course I don't mean real names, but their aliases and websites, although with the respect to privacy players have been shown it probably doesn't matter). We could probably do this through The Junsui's facebook with only mild difficulty. Of course the main question remains whether we ought to trust anything The Junsui themselves say. Personally I'm getting irked by the large amount of seemingly disconnected and useless information. I'd like to join the Men of Taste side of things but I don't think I'd be able to gain their trust. It probably doesn't matter since very little seems to be going on right now.

Also I'm aware that since I'm basically anon you probably all assume I'm a captain trying to mislead you. Now I'm not, but that is of course what a captain would say. I suppose I can only give you my word and my probably inept and useless opinion.

Facebook's starting to look like a 4chan. Go figure.

Well at least they can't post pictures... Razz

So they expect to keep 2,500+ followers on Facebook by devolving in to random posts? I wonder what their audience *really* is at this point...?

I don't know how the "captains" could make things any more confusing than they already are. I vote to just stick with the leads we already have.

I'm also kind of seeing 4chan people retaliating against the Junsui for trying to make them their personal army. Hopefully they don't annoy the PM enough to end the game outright.

As for actual game related stuff, has anyone tried contacting Junko (if it's even the real Junko) through Livejournal? It seems that there's a way to contact her through LJ messenger, but I have no idea what to ask.

That's the problem I'm having. If the "characters" are telling "players" to spread misinformation, it already seems like the PM has broken the "rules" of the game. If he tells others to lie for him, what's to stop him from outright lying himself, through the characters? I just can't get past the idea that he could totally whip up a website with false clues to throw everyone off, and then, really, what's the point of doing this in the first place?

Well, you know, I'm pretty sure that the game is dead, or nearly dead and there is no need to put so much sense in all that captains stuff.

Ask me if I am a "captain": - and I will answer yes, but I have no intents of spreading lies or something (some of the users whom I contacted privately may prove this if you insist).

I've lost my interest to the game as nothing were really happening in about the week, we've got plenty of useless but cool-looking info and still nothing definite from PM, he still talking very unclear. So I agree with the opinion that there's really nothing behind all this and PM is simply fooling us around.

I mean, just it's 4 o'clock at the morning here and we are all waiting anxiously to learn something new about the whole thing and when we get something it probably will just some meaningless stuff as everything he said before.

Yes, it was very nice at the beginning, but now, I believe it's a complete fail.

Sorry for the clumsy post.

I second that. lots of noise with no real progress whatsoever. it is not the way it should be at all. does he need audience? did he ever think, that his audience might have lives to live, besides sitting and waiting for his clues?

That didn't seem clumsy to me. I agree with you, though, that very little is going on. It seems like the game is basically dead at this point. I mean the thing is that this game has almost no ARG elements, which is disappointing because it seemed so interesting. I figured by this time the PM would have at least given us a puzzle, but unless we're all missing something really big it seems more like we just have a lot of ridiculous information. The PM clearly knows how to attract an audience, but now he's losing it. Personally, I want to keep going if just out of curiosity, but we don't seem to have any major leads. I mean consider what we've still got. Nothing really seemed to come of the runes, and more than half of the facebook and twitter entries are just thematic but serve no purpose. The video feed was the hook for a lot of us but doesn't seem to tell us much. The Men of Taste were a nice addition but they haven't told us anything we didn't already know. The video puzzle, our only real clue, is solved but really went nowhere. And on top of this, nothing's really happened except for the captains' signal in...what? Two days now? If nothing happens by Friday I think I'm going to drop out too.

Not that anyone cares, after all I'm not a "captain." PFFT, now that was a stupid idea.
