I saw that too. But I dont think thats Beloretsk. search for beloretsk and then compare the two. The one you searched for is in Moscow

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
but the guy at http://www.alibaba.com/member/ru100838675/contactinfo.html has exactly the same address and postal code, so we could mail him and ask about A. Dubrovin. But again, would this considered to be okay or not in an ARG?

Well I was just contacted by a "Basil Valentine" on LinkedIn, but don't believe it to be real.

I'm her only contact, the content is way too convenient, and there's a factual inaccuracy in it.

Nice try guys... Anything else you'd like to throw my way?

You "veterans" sure carry around a lot of entitlement assuming that just because someone creates an interactive online game it has to adhere to your community's definitions of an ARG. I mean, how presumptuous is that.

Does unfiction own all games and set their rules in eternity? Very Happy Of course not. Rules and conventions have evolved as the medium innovates and finds new potentials.

If you don't like this experience that is fine. Go leave, just spare us the whining. If you want to play nice, play nice. If you want to be antagonistic IG go ahead, just don't cry so much.

Can we get back to some clue analysis. PLEASE!

I'm sure if your personal info was smeared all over the internet you may feel differently. In closing, shut up.

Yeah I googled that name after their first post on here.

FROM WIKI:
Basilius Valentinus, also known under the Anglicized version of his name, Basil Valentine, was a 15th-century alchemist. He was the Canon of the Benedictine Priory of Sankt Peter in Erfurt, Germany. Even his name cannot be corroborated; during the 18th century it was suggested that he was Johann Thölde. The year given for his birth in Mainz, 1394, is also uncertain.

Valentine showed that ammonia could be obtained by the action of alkalies on sal-ammoniac, and how hydrochloric acid could be produced from acidizing brine.

This argument has been made MANY, MANY times recently, people asking "well why do these rules have to be in place? let's just ignore them." but you've been here, what, 2 weeks or something? Who is really going to have more of a knowledge of what should or shouldn't be allowed? Mr. 2 Weeks or people who started and built a whole community of something you've now been doing for 2 whole weeks? If you're going to go somewhere and immediately suggest that a place should change or ignore rules that have been set in stone and questioned many times before, maybe you're better off just not posting anymore. Or better yet, go make your own forum where you can play ARGs however you like and can do whatever you want. I'm sure it will turn out well.

And for the record, I don't speak for "veterans" I speak for myself and my use of common sense. Thanks.

You only have yourself to blame, who orginally put up all their info on the internet?

Just take it as face value and in closing, shut up.

AGREE TO DISAGREE?

That's funny, because reading the last 10 pages or so, there don't seem to be many actual clues that don't involve the brute force of hacking into a site. What I see is un-encoded nonsense and repetitive babble. The audio and video add atmosphere but doesn't seem to advance a plot of any kind, let alone a plot that actually involves the players.

Nor does there seem to be much of a goal that players can actually get involved in other than buying a t-shirt.... (can someone explain to me why i would want a shirt that printed on the -inside- anyway?)

I'm not a veteran here, but game usually = clues + goal, and here we don't have much of either. Game usually does not = illegal acts + harassment. Mostly cause.. well, that shit's not -fun-. (Well, unless you are an asshole.)

I keep watching because it amazes me how easy it is to manipulate people. While I was hoping for a game, I guess I'll watch this hilarious social experiment instead. Play on. Very Happy

Edit: oh, shoot, I guess I turned into a "veteran" at some point.

Edit2: I'm totally serious about the T-shirt question. Wouldn't that chafe?

Alright kids, stop. Now. No more posting REAL INFORMATION on unfiction, unless it is yours and yours alone. No more feeding the trolls. Don't make me turn these forums around. I'll do it, and then no dessert for a month. You hear me?

At no point did I disclose any personal information about this/these PM(s), so they had no right to disclose any personal information about me.

My full name and e-mail address were posted on 4chan, and regardless of the fact that I posted that information in my private Facebook account, you and I both know that 4chan can do some pretty heinous shit with people's personal information. THAT is why I got angry, THAT is why I reacted the way I did.

You added them to your facebook, which in all allows them to view all info about you. So you let them, so in closing, shut up.

Now I'm convinced Basil Valentine wasn't real at all.

*sigh...* Thanks guys.

Really, can we stop all this and get back on track... Wherever that track may be?
