My friend is playing along as Sherlock and I got the first telegram with the link to the article Holmes wrote. So is that it for now, we are just sitting and waiting?

Well, I'm in, as a Holmes. And I have the first Telegraph (And the Monograph), and I noticed something about it.

Is it just me, or do some of the letters in the "heading" page look lighter?

http://cdn.221b.sh/221b/email/evidence/teasers/1eaafd101994fa49712655dff1fbe66a.jpg

I'm talking about the "her" in "Sherlock", and the "sb" in "Bloomsbury".

I was thinking it was some kind of code, perhaps an anagram, but after digging into it, I'm thinking it may just be a "Stylistic trick" to make the text look old, that has been left out of the right-hand side text (as it would probably make it unreadable).

Just throwing this out there, as a way of saying "Hi", and wondering if anyone else sees it.

Dr. Watson requiring partner...STOP

Hey guys. Long time lurker here. Though I've been signed up on these forums for AGES, thought I'd raise my voice again.

I'm currently signed up onto this and I've got all three emails (newspaper, article from Holmes and the article about the folk games). I'm currently playing alone, but if anyone from the UK wants to be my 'friend on whom I can rely' I'm more than willing.

Just some observations:

1). Reading through the games article, I'm sure there's something to this pentagram thing. Maybe a future puzzle on the site? Lucky guess, I suppose? Currently exploring it.

2). Obviously OOG but possibly useful twitter accounts at http://twitter.com/the_mr_holmes [check out his followers] and http://twitter.com/ricobeenie [he's a Holmes historian].

3). Robert Downey Jr looks incredibly plastic in the latest poster.

the immediate things that popped out to me in the 'london news' is
a. smearing of some letters in the bottom left hand of the page 'one shilling'
b. small cursive writing above 'thompson' in the 7-11 ad
c. was there really 7-11's back then?

solution to pentagram puzzle (i think)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
draw a star and label each point clockwise 0,4,9,8,1. on the inner intersecting points starting at 1 o'clock and moving clockwise label these points 3,6,7,5,2 place a pebble on any empty circle, say 0 move it two spaces to another empty circle, say 6
the next move must place the pebble in the circle you just vacated
there is only one move 5-to-0.
the next move puts a pebble on 5 so 9-to-5.
continue 3-to-9, 1-to-3, 7-to-1, 4-to-7, 2-to-4, 8-to-2
and last pebble is placed on 8

I'm wondering if this "Lady Conway" isn't Irene Adler...? A quick Google search didn't turn that up as one of her aliases, but I'm not super familiar with all the relevant canon. I does talk about her getting repeatedly arrested.

If that's not what we're supposed to be interested in, then perhaps the announcement about the new subway line? Lots of mystery to be had in a subway. Very Happy

I received the three new telegrams (all three within two hours) even though my Watson has not confirmed, yet. No idea when and how they send those telegrams.

Since my potential co-player has not reacted over the weekend I might have to look for another Watson. So if someone is interested PM me.

They're sending them through Facebook - so if anyone is not getting them it may be you need to check your application settings. (I've prevented the app posted to my newsfeed, but allow it to send me emails). I'm guessing it's a (badly) automated service at the moment; saves managing their own mail server!

Bonza! So glad the game is finally afoot! Very Happy

I've dragged in the other half to be my other half, so to speak, and he shall be Holmes since apparently I'm Watson. He'll probably like that, though. lol

I've got all three emails; will look at them in more detail when I'm not at work. Laughing

Lots of interesting things here. BTW, Happy All Saints Day everyone!

Also found (I presume...) the offical Watson Twitter account here: http://twitter.com/watson_md

forum newb here *waves*

I haven't been so excited for an arg since Year Zero, so when this game kicked off I grabbed myself a Watson and fired up a pipe! ...so to speak.

I bow before superior clue-finding skills, but I must bring up the fact that a life assurance company that pays out so highly, yet employs seemingly no one - is highly suspect. Also, what woman, so obsessed with wealth, suddenly converts to a religion which eschews the acquisition of material wealth?

/thinking like an avid Holmes-reader and not like an arg-player Wink

b - With the small hand writing I think it says Society the other word I'm not sure. I'm thinking it says Spy.

c - As for 7-11 I looked it up and the company didn't start until 1927 (and in Texas). Definitely 30-40+ years after Holmes and not English. Perhaps it is a clue. Or just a regular advert.
