That's actually against the TOS. Your only allowed to have one handle on the site.

Not trying to be sneaky about it. That's why I pointed it out to begin with. Sorry if I'm treading the line or something.

Again I'm not trying to defend the PMs so much as I am trying to get back on the game instead of the meta. Digging up the meta info isn't going to reveal anything, I think. If we want this to go in any kind of positive direction, we're going to have to play the game.

Not saying you are doing anything sneaky, just letting you know what the TOS says. In the future if you end up posting as a guest instead of logging in just post under the same name (or better yet, set the site to auto login Razz)

If the PM actually provides something for people to do I am sure the META stuff will subside (tho expect that new sites will be searched for hidden meta data, as it is common practice)

The problem currently is that there's really NO new information for players to use.. it's a waiting game, and that makes bored people go digging for information; checking if there is something in the site ID, flash, links, whois (etc) that was missed.

I agree 100%. The reason that this game is blowing up in the PMs faces is because they chose to act so slowly. I understand the reason to (help slow players keep up), but idle hands are the devil's workshop. They should've anticipated a fair degree of poking/prodding.

A fair number of the games that come out have a waiting period, but most of those games have a series of small puzzles to occupy waiting players, or something to indicate WHEN additional information will be available.

And in those instances it is incredibly common for players to do a full meta background of the game sites to try and find out information, to expect any less is silly.

I wouldn't call looking through Patrick's flickr part of a "full meta background".

If it provides a link to locate who the original actress is in the videos it is.

It's reaching a little far, but with so little to go on people will reach.

I happen to remember a certain game a few years ago where the players tracked down one of the PMs and located his REAL home address and pictures... the PM took down the entire game, the community apologized, realized he was OOG and the referenced data was removed. The game went on without a hitch and the PM edited the data that was found to match IG characters. It happens, and there are much better ways to resolve it than have been used.

Honestly, does it matter that much who the original actress is? She is only really relevant as "Rhea". The actress herself is not IG.

If players' information can't be harvested and used, PMs information shouldn't be harvested and used either. Since Patrick went and used diss's info, I guess it's justified now; in general though, that seems like a dick move.

Dick or not it tends to be done.

I honestly don't see how that particular action is any different than watching a movie and using IMDB to find out who played a role you enjoyed.. as long as you don't use the information to harass the actor/actress or director.

IMDB and a personal flickr are two different things.

Show me a forum where you can find the actress information for an online campaign.

I agree they are not the same, but that doesn't change the fact that people who want to know will look until they find out.

Of course people will want to know. It still doesn't give them the right to snoop around through people's personal sites to find it out.

The same as playing a game does not give the PM the right to go snooping into the players personal information and post it to the general populous.

I'm pretty sure that Patrick went through a lot less trouble to get diss's info than we went through to get his Razz

1. Patrick's Flickr account is public, Googling his name will bring it up.

2. Googling She Stirs brought up Patrick's name, I wouldn't say that's much effort.

The guest posting vs. posting with an actual forum ID is not a problem if you're transitioning from guesthood to membership, as far as I can tell.

Meow, if you're bein' all nimbly-bimbly, posting back and forth just to be a big old jerkface, that's another thing entirely.

consider what had to be done to get his name in the first place.
various whoises, following different site sources vs clicking a couple links on a forum
