Nighthawk just posted in the main ARG thread that he as heard something about what went on during the captain's meeting. Here's a meta theory:

What if the whole purpose of that meeting was to bring those folks into the game? The pretext could be that the "psychic virus" people were alluding to was used, and now these folks are supposed to come back to their respective forums and start raising hell...

Never work. Too risky. No guarantee that you can get everyone of them on board. Only takes on renegade to out them, and that's not to mention the fact that you would have very easily guessed their strategy.

Hold on now, let's try to keep ourselves from jumping to conclusions. Nighthawk said he'd inform us of the situation once he had confirmation, so let's just be patient, yes?

I went to track down the quote, and it turns out it was just someone's theory on another forum. Ah, well.

Still, it'd make things interesting to have all these (ideally) established personalities on different forums all start suddenly extolling the virtues of the Great Mother and whatnot.

haha for sure.

Anyway, regardless of the obvious distastefulness of how the PM was handling his business, I'm still up at 2:43 AM waiting on new info, so he must've done at least a few things right. Smile

OK, I think I can officially say that this is no longer an ARG.

I have confirmed the following with at least two people who attended the chat.

1) There were approximately 20-30 people in it, all registered on Facebook, 99% of which with 4chan origins.

2) My name did come up, and of course was not well received.

3) The purpose for the chat is to state that the job of the captains, and everyone else involved, is... brace yourselves... to spread disinformation, red herrings and fake information everywhere they can.

Yes, you're hearing that correctly... In essence, the PMs are asking the players to GAMEJACK THEIR OWN GAME.

4) The captains will be kept up to date on information privately through Facebook.

So, in a nutshell...

1) Only a handful of people are playing

2) Those people are spoonfed information by the PMs

3) Everyone else won't have a damn clue what's going on because they will be accosted with fake data from all sides.

Ain't games FUN?

Yeah. I was extremely impressed with the puzzles and the flash work and historical references and everything, but at some point that all just stopped.

Personally, while I hate to say it, I think that the ARG might have been hijacked. The professionalism of the first chunk of the game cannot be seen by subsequent occurrences, especially in the rudeness of the supposed "PM."

Of course, as a newbie, I don't expect that my opinion is accurate. I'm just giving my two cents.

I've been thinking that for a while now. They shattered the realism by inducing meta-drama.

"a: real"

... What? The story is about a bunch of cultists who are girls being genetically modified by a Russian private military corp in order to create genetically perfect human beings.

How is "real" an option?
