Well, I'm glad to say that me and our chan (most likely) are in. People're really excited with the whole ARG idea. We had no idea of ARGs before that Junko game, so it indeed brought ARGs to Russia, at our chan at least.

But I don't think we should be discussing it here, in JJ thread.

Right click the flash file, select properties, find the tab for the cache, reduce it to zero, and refresh. Works again. Works for the site with the error message, too.

So, I decided to sign up for this Rachel's Walk thing. Put my e-mail in and such. I wonder what happens next?

Thanks for the link to Rachel's Walk. I haven't posted in these threads yet, but I've been following. I was wary to get involved because by the time I discovered the game, the private forum drama had already happened.

The one good thing is that this sparked my interest in ARGs again. I had been a member of unFiction years ago and participated in a few games, but got busy with work and drifted away. Now I'm back and have signed up for Rachel's Walk, so I have something to thank Patrick for, anyway.

- I admit I wasn't following it at this point much, but my understanding was that a request for a private forum was made (either through Twitter or Facebook; don't know which).

- A unFiction regular creates the "Sisters and Brothers" forum, on which the PMs can post freely.

- On said forums, PMs insist that we do not talk about game content on unFiction. In the same post, PMs release my name and the name of two others, labeling us "cowards" and "the enemy". It is not well received.

- I "retaliate" with an IN GAME response on the private forums. At this point, I was playing a personna to match their "in game" request.

- I am blocked from Junko's personal profile on Facebook.

- PM signs up as "Junko Junsui" on the 5/8 forums and begins to exchange words with the participants there. She is not well received. These exchanges include, among other things, (1) stating the entire population of 5/8 is "tainted by alcohol", and (2) posting the personal information and image of two prominent members of the forum without consent, mocking one of them and their personal photo from another website.

- PMs release the name of another player (one that frequents the 5/8 forums) publicly, direct posting it on 4chan, essentially asking that they deal with the situation.

- As a result of said attacks, and because of the PMs obscurity, a full investigation by myself and others begins in order to identify who the offending PM is. It is discovered that the PM is a Patrick Marckesano of Homeostatic.net, and this project has been in the planning stages for over two years.

- The "Alfa-Tsentr" page on Wikipedia is proven to be fraudulent and is removed by Wikipedia censors.

- We open communications via email with Patrick. Some of the initial emails appear "in game", with him stating that he's fearing for his life and that he was in danger. In my last of direct correspondence with him (on or about the 17th of August) he states that he was going to "disappear for a while" and "get away from all this."

- A new domain appears (junkojunsui.com), posted by one of the prominent members at 5/8, essentially outs the PMs and posts all META information on them and their project plans. It elaborates on the fact that this project is apparently to promote some sort of fashion industry product.

- PM suggests on an open Facebook thread that "enemy" sites, 5/8 and the above domain specifically, should be attacked in order to stop this disinformation.

- There is attempt to HACK the above domain using a brute force/dictionary attack through SSH. They make over 100 attempts in the matter of a few hours. This is all well documented and from a specific IP address. Note that this is in violation of Federal law.

- Despite saying that he was "disappearing for a while", the hack attempt and all in game emails are linked back to one IP address, which happens to be the same address the PM used in "in game" and "out of game" conversations with me and others. It is also the same IP address used to register Junko Junsui on the 5/8 forums.

- PM is banned from 5/8 for violating site terms of service (the official reason is that they were "advertising") and for threatening users there.

- Another domain appears (showpages.net), on which there is a Flash that direct connects to the back end feed hosted at iMediaSee. Upon analysis of the Flash, it essentially mirrors the functionality of the page behind the fake Google page.

- A 5/8 administrator posts a semi-comical animation on their forums. Note that the animation is, although having sexual references, not directly explicit and within the bounds of their own terms of service.

- PM re-registers on 5/8 with an assumed name (using the same IP address), which also violates 5/8 terms of service.

- PM posts an open request on Facebook, directly linking to the aforementioned 5/8 thread, asking 4chan to once again deal with the situation.

- Offending image is removed from 5/8, mainly out of fear of repercussions due to 4chan's involvement.

- PM proceeds to thank the members of 4chan, forming an alliance with them.

- PM states on another Facebook thread that the $38 T-shirts are meant to cover the cost of bandwidth expenses. In the same post, they openly admit to bank fraud by stating they had to "...steal from the Khozain account many more thousands."

- PM asks for a private chat room to be set up so he can talk to his "followers". They demand that they are given admin rights to control, and potentially censor, anyone who may visit. They furthermore do not want the chat information to be made public for "security reasons." If it posted on any other forums, those people will not be permitted in the chat.

...and that's where we stand.

Also of note are the following actions, which I have not confirmed:

- Terrorist threats being reported to Russian and American authorities.

- The domain "shestirs.com" being reported to GoDaddy for fraudulent WHOIS information. NOTE: If that is the case and GoDaddy confirms it, the domain will be lost, without recourse or appeal, for ONE FULL YEAR.

- The video feeds, because of their nude content, being reported to their content provider for (1) violations of Terms of Use, and (2) not complying with U.S.C. 2257 regulations.

Mr. Nighthawk. Oh my do you strike me as the most pitiful and vindictive of people. Could it be perhaps jealousy�in that during the course of your own career as a "game designer" you have never produced one project that gained even a fraction of the attention that this one has? Rolling Eyes

I have watched you alternately bad mouth and act the sycophant to the PMs. You're so full of horse excrement that you must breed maggots in the summer. And I just want you to know that many people can see right through your obvious attempts to misconstrue facts and events. I guess it's inevitable that your nonstop meddling and two-faced tactics will long be forgotten when this project is discussed with academic interest years from now.

As for your claims of illegal activity by the game creators�I have never read such a false and absurdly exaggerated litany of accusations in my life. Bank fraud? Terrorist acts? Computer hacks? Very Happy

Absolutely NONE of these were committed by the PMs�not even by the wildest stretches of the imagination. Nor did they ever advocate anybody else breaking the law. The worst thing these people did was act mean (in the guise of a pre-defined villain character I might add).

Sir, do you know the difference between reality and FICTION? Apparently not because you've gone out of your way to promote such ridiculous notions in the gaming community and you will be judged harshly for it in posterity. I am sorry but you are a hack and a failure. You deserve every bit of nastiness that comes out of this.

As for a specific claim about 2257 compliance. Let me just remind some people here of the ACTUAL nature of the law regarding internet obscenity...

From the Electronic Frontier Foundation:

Furthermore, this project's media does NOT seem to fit the definition of an "explicit" work:

It does not cover images produced before July 3, 1995, or depictions of simulated sexually explicit conduct.

Their video contains only frontal nudity with no showing of pubic or genital areas, and definitely does not depict any sexual conduct. The only time I remember seeing anything sexually explicit was the aforementioned animation some idiot admin posted to 5/8 (depicting a semen ejaculation onto the face of the actress potraying Rie) which then consequently yielded the wrath of some 4chan kids. The irony of them standing up for morality does not escape me naturally... Smile

Mr. Nighthawk, you're wrong about this just like you've been wrong about nearly everything I have ever seen you write on this page. Your "veteran" status does not excuse this nor any of the rest of you who decide to make false accusations. You may be a senior member of your own "gaming community" but when it comes to the greater scheme of things, many of you come across as basement-dwelling, intellectual midgets. Sorry if that seems a bit harsh.

So why don't you do everybody with half a brain a favor (not counting Dissentience and company naturally) and stop the passive aggressive witch hunt? We know that you've been on a campaign to shut down this game, having gone as far as making reports to several authorities. I just want to go on the record and state my opinion that one of the main reasons for delays in this game is likely YOUR breaches of decent conduct.

Pardon? I have not defamed anyone. I've made some statements regarding the PM that call him whiny and immature, but that's pretty much fact, not pointless ad hominem flaming like the crap you're spewing.

And what do you mean by "Maybe your whole life is OOG?"

I'd think it's obvious that my whole life is "OOG" considering that I'm a real person, not an ARG character. If you're going to try to troll someone, you could at least try making sense.
