are we sure that bctester actually reads maxicode and just is not spitting out 69 based on an improper decode? the bctester site is blocked for me so I had to get a download elsewhere and I can find nothing in it saying it supports maxicode.

bcTester v4.8, which is the latest version from that site, doesn't identify it at all. I just tried it myself.

so it's a fake?

I guess it's back to searching for a maxicode decoder again.

its not a fake decoder it just simply doesn't support maxicode.

I've got a lead on one, we'll see if I can get it to work...

i suggest testing your decoders on a known code block, such as the one on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MaxiCode which decodes to "Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia"

You are right. It was improper decoding... Rolling Eyes

I tried a console tool but during the decoding it throws too many errors so i don't know if the result does make any sense...

I've learned a valuable lesson, just now. Thank you.

EDIT: Okay, looking at the two barcodes, it seems that most of the left side of each is identical to the other.
Also, I've uploaded the phrase:
Quote:
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz123456789.

into Maxicode (below). It might help....

right, I also use bcTester, and it attempts to find the best matching barcode if it's not explicitly known. 69 is definitely not the answer =)

It would be nice if they updated their software again though. It's a wonderful app.

It's pretty much the ONLY app that works as good as it does. I haven't been able to find another bar code reader to match it.

Doesn't anyone have a bar code reading app for their phone or something?

I hate to think the PM didn't check on how hard it would be to decode this... Maybe he works for UPS? Razz

Could it be that we are too fixated on decoding this code? Maybe there is more IN this picture than this maxicode? Its not a .gif-animation (I checked this) and there is no message hidden in the picture (except the code^^) or I used the wrong tools to check. In the .wav neiter. (Or I used the wrong tools, too). And why Dr. Who? Where I the link?
Maybe I am thinking way to complicated but could it be that decoding this code brings not the results we hope it does? (nevertheless I would decode this, if I could)

I found a tool for reading Maxicodes. There is only one problem: I need a USB-Code-Scanner for this...

(Before I forget: Hi guys, I´m new^^ Sorry if my english is not the best, its not my native language=) )

If you've found a reader, post the link. So far all the ways I have tried to reverse engineer have failed. (You'd think people would make it easier to hack their code apart..... Rolling Eyes )

Have we decided which Mode the Maxicode is in?

Yeah, everything I've found so far is a hardware solution.

I'd be tempted to ship something to myself via UPS and then hijack the driver's reader. Razz

Just tell me: How many people have the hardware for this? Not many. That leads me to two ideas. First: There has to be a software solution. We have to scan all 200 Google pages or second: We do not have to decode it (as I said before). Maybe its like the .wav the code is only the half of the story. I cant imagine that someone would make the beginning that hard!

With UPS will it only work if the code is in the right mode. If its in another they cant read it either. And iI dont thinnk that they borrow you a reader =)

So after watching the Blink episode, I can't figure out what we're meant to be getting from it. Theres no mention of a website at all during the entire show. Perhaps if we had a bit more help as to what we're looking for we'd be able to find it.
