Definitely not walking up there again in the next few weeks. Kind of a bummer that the gift shop was out of whatever we needed.

Yes, gorgeous view! Great experience...just not something I can get away and do often, within the time frame of when the gift shop is open

I had never climbed that stair way before and it was crazy pretty, but being in the East Bay I can't get up there too often. I don't really like thinking that I may need to go on a weekend and try to get into the parking lot at the tower with the tourists. *Shudder*

That will take forever! You're better off parking somewhere else and taking the 39 bus up there.

Even the 39 sits and waits thru that traffic line going up to the top...
though you could get off early and walk rest of way up.

Yeah I think I saw the bus waiting in the same never ending line. Taking the bus and getting off a few stops earlier seems like the best idea.

For anyone else interested, they just got a big new batch of the cards. A friend who did Act III yesterday picked me up one, as they were gone when I went.
However, I am curious about one thing.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Was the 529 supposed to mean something? It seems like it references a non-existent lock on the box.

The box was locked in the early days of Act III; somewhere along the line the box was broken into, so that you no longer need the code in the incredibly beautiful and well-done mosaic. Which I think is too bad.

When I was there in late April there was a lock on the box.

last time i was there there was a lock but it was broken and it wouldn't close. i guess they just opted to keep it open until they can replace it maybe. the thing is the grotto is where some homeless actually sleep so it's kind of inevitable that a locked box there is gonna get broken into.
