It could have very high value. But this is a discussion board for args. So it is off topic.

That's funny, I don't recall saying that I was the owner of any site (besides my own blog), and I don't recall saying that this wasn't an ARG.

What I recall saying was that I wasn't a character in an ARG.

But, just because I didn't say that it isn't an ARG, doesn't mean that it isn't.

Well, either it is something argish enough to be on topic here or it isn't. But if it is, and you are involved, then you aren't allowed to post here. And if it is not, then this is all embarrassingly (for me as first topic starter) off topic.

However, I see that comments are enabled on your blog and I would encourage anyone who would like to learn more about your Firesign theatre project to join in the discussion. I for one had never really heard of them and it did interest me in finding some of their routines to listen to.

Thanks for the clarification. Like you say, it can be a piece of chaotic fiction or something else unrelated all together. Who knows, perhaps those that are behind it will get inspired and turn this into one after all. Smile

So the story so far is that a dead arg or piece of chaotic fiction or something gets a topic at UF courtesy of bull in chinashop me.

Two existing blogs suddenly get updated, even change templates. Then Liminal started up a blog to interact with the other blogs, so I figured he was part of the show.

I said the blogs looked like ramblings of a mentally ill person to provoke a reaction (sorry Liminal) and he came here to defend his honor. This led to some wondering by myself if this did not violate the ToS. However, the mods have accepted that he was simply someone interacting with the whatever it is, and I had simply jumped the gun.

So now that we have driven everyone off, where to now? I kinda doubt the changing color scheme is a clue. I still think the forking paths sections are key but too late today to do more on that.

decans colours etc. are all part and parcel of the hermetic memory-theatre systems especially as invoked by Guilio Camillo who is referenced in this story along with Pico and Ficino and Bruno and so forth

Most authoritative source for this is 'The Art of Memory' by Frances Yates

Burbage was a noted actor often associated with Shakesphere and Marlowe

Burbage also built the first theater in London soon followed by The Fortune, The Curtain and The Red Bull and of course, the Globe

33' sounds like a masonic degree

93 comes up a lot in Thelemic lore but might have an earlier common source

Crowley's main contribution to kabbalah was to invert (or pervert) the tree of life into the tree of death

I don't prretend to know what exactly is going on with all of this "Last Statue" business, but I don't see Crowley in it except possibly the 93 and a certain "R. P. Stovall" referenced in the story as a Borgian imaginary author.

Good insights. But there surely is a Crowley connection, he is listed in the names on the sidebar, for example. And though he is not in the story, Marjorie Cameron is, as in the sidebar. Jack Parsons is mentioned there too. Missing from the sidebar is L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, but wiki tells us that Parsons and Hubbard together "conjured" Marjorie Cameron with Crowleyite ceremonies. (Well, I mean they believed they did.) Meanwhile in Chapter 2: Tina Delgado, a character is named Marjorie but also called Cameron. And by the way, lots of maze references in that section.

So the question becomes, is there something other than a complicated story drawing on some dark, conspiracy history here? I am still not sure but if there were something to the maze portions (and a new section is up on the Unturmeyer blog) then maybe there is...ahem...more to the story.

However as I look at recent blog comments, this looks like a sort of "closed system" wherein some people know what is going on (lots of hard to interpret comments). It may be that there is "more to the story" but just not meant for consumption by the general public.

The headings of the outlines so far are, The Burbage, the Fortune, The Red Bull, and The Curtain. (Strictly speaking, the Theatre founded by Burbage was simply called "The Theatre". )

We have one more chapter so far and no outline yet. So far I see no connection between the particular theatres mentioned and the text.

Many of the character names are actually names of famous people from Elizabethan England.

Each chapter has a Sephiroth as we know. The numbers go like this:

Chapter 1, Bina - Sephiroth 3
Chapter 2, Chesed - Sephiroth 4
Chapter 3, Gevura - Sephiroth 6
Chapter 4 has two, HOD-NISACH which I assume means Sephira 8 and 7 though I see Netzach as a more usual spelling (using google as my only authority). Happily, the spelling in the text is also the one used in "The Art of Memory by Francis Yates, which led me to download a copy and I think that is definitely a primary source for this little puzzle. Here is a link to the Yates book but you have to sign up.

Marjorie Cameron
aka "Cameron"

was, after her time with Jack Parsons, L Ron and the rest of that gang, a member of a group of So Cal artists clustered around Wallace Berman, who published an art and poetry journal called Semina...

other members of the group included:
Dennis Hopper
Russ Tamblyn
Dean Stockwell
(sound familiar to David Lynch fans?)

many members of the Semina circle were interested in kabbalah, including Berman, and poets Robert Duncan, and David Meltzer
great resource:
http://writing.upenn.edu/library/Fredman-Stephen_Semina.html
http://www.brianbutler.org/CAMERON_THE_WORMWOOD_STAR.html

also connected to Semina was filmmaker Curtis Harrington, who cast Cameron in the film Night Tide (she played the Water Witch), mentioned in TLS Chapter 2, also starring Dennis Hopper

Harrington also made a film, "The Wormwood Star", which concerns Cameron's paintings (and which, unfortunately, appears to be unavailable as of now)--a magickal child Cameron in TLS is convinced she was pregnant with--

end result--Tina Delgado is the "Wormwood Star"

The question is : who is Tina Delgado?

Well if you google Tina Delgado, you find that she is the name used by a radio dj in a famous phrase, though no one knows its origins.
Quote:

Real also appeared in some highly prestigious films such as EATING RAOUL, DEATH RACE 2000 (starring Sylvester Stallone), ROCK N' ROLL HIGH SCHOOL, and Ron Howard's first directing effort, GRAND THEFT AUTO. Television credits are equally as impressive: TALES FROM THE CRYPT and HERE COMES THE BRIDES.

I had the pleasure of working with him at two radio stations, K100 and TenQ in LA in the 70's. He also fell off my couch stinking drunk one night and my wife still invited him to dinner again.

His catch phrase was "Tina Delgado is alive, ALIVE!" shouted by some unknown frenzied girl. No one ever knew the story behind it. Who Tina Degado was. How he came to use it. Even what the hell it meant. But it didn't matter. It was all part of the excitement this larger-than-life personality created for "the magnificent megalopolis of Boss Angeles" three hours every day…and especially on "Fractious Fridays".

As for Art of Memory, several character and place names in LS have already shown up in my reading, including Camillo and Bruno.
