How do they "sync up" and do I have to be stoned for this to work? Cool I see Steely Dan mentioned in the sidebar but what does this "Soundtrack" suggest to you?

Okay, so from what I have read I assume there should be seven chapters total. Here are the seven "pillars" of Camilla's memory theatre along with their Sephiroth.
Quote:

Planets Sephiroth Angels
Luna (Diana) Marcut Gabriel
Mercury Iesod Michael
Venus Hod and Nisach Honiel
Sol Tipheret Raphael
Mars Gabiarah Camael
Jupiter Chased Zadchiel
Saturn Bina Zaphkiel

I don't know that the angels are relevant but it came in the same chart. So we are missing Mercury, Luna and Sol.

SInce these correspondences are well known to occultists, I am not sure I am discovering anything helpful. However, Camillo's theatre has seven levels and a ramp from each of the pillars above goes up those levels. Higher is actually baser, that is the bottom level is the divine soul and as you go up it gets more earthbound. Think of the high levels in a theatre as the cheap seats!

So what on earth does all this have to do with the story itself?

Unturmeyer and Pynchonopolis are both making references to a book by de Nerval. One says Salt Sellers and the other Salt Cellars. The book is called Salt Smugglers. Sometimes our bloggers drink a little.

So there are thirty statues in Last Statue, and also a reference to numbered seals. Giordano Bruno, another art of memory figure, wrote a book on thirty seals. These seals are memory devices to mentally organize knowledge, much like Camillo's theatre.

From Chapter 2:
Quote:

Using Keeler's glazes, the Little Valley, and the Cuedra Seca dry-line techniques, to resolve pre-Columbian Meso-American themes into geometric labyrinths…religious icons…hieroglyphs…sigils…power animals & primary colors…all grist for the potter's wheel (see seal #21).

"That, and I'm finally finishing this series of statues. I'm on the 29th now, got one more to go…"

"These are surrealist Tarot," says Rosa, Felonas' esposa,

"These were brought as gift by Remedio Varo, when she &

Peret come to visit in San Miguel. The first card ees the Lock; for knowledge, then the Wheel & Blood-for revolution, then the Flame is love, and the Dark Star for dream…"

Varo was a mystical surrealilst painter.

Now Unturmeyer has this:

How secure are these PM's? Or BMG, are you feeling a bit leaky?

Oh this is leading somewhere, I think. Bruno was really into the number thirty. This is from the pdf of the Yates book:

Quote:
Bruno was obsessed with the number thirty. Not
only is this the basic number in Shadows, but there are thirty
seals in Seals, thirty statues in Statues, and thirty 'links' in his work
on how to establish links with demons.3

and later

Quote:
I am inclined to think that
Bruno's actual source was probably the Steganographia of Trithe-
mius in which thirty-one spirits are listed, with recipes for conjur-
ing them. In an abstract of this work later made for Bruno, the list
becomes a thirty.

So now first off, I know what steganography is, hence my handle) but what is this in regard to Trithemius? It is a thirty letter (or thirty one) wheel within a wheel. From wiki:
Quote:

Trithemius' most famous work is Steganographia (written c.1499; published Frankfurt, 1606, placed on the Index Librorum Prohibitorum in 1609[1], removed in 1900[2]). This book is in three volumes, and appears to be about magic - specifically, about using spirits to communicate over long distances. Since the publication of the decryption key to the first two volumes in 1606, they have been known to be actually concerned with cryptography and steganography. Until recently, the third volume was widely still believed to be about magic, but the "magical" formulae have now been shown to be covertexts for yet more cryptography content.[3] The work has lent its name to the modern field of steganography.

Pratt is fake, I guess. This is from a little while ago.

April 9th 1960: Hendrik Verwoerd, the Prime Minister of South Africa is
assassinated by David Pratt…

There was an assassination attempt by a David Pratt on that evil man (and I guess it is a quote from an alternate history board after all) but David Pratt is also the name of the person who supposedly owns the Green Sprout Marketing company which hosts Last Statue.

Speaking of Matheny, the image of the Trithemius Wheel actually came from his El Centro archive, now under this URL http://www.theeggmovie.com/

I'll bet all that salt made them thirsty, not to mention mentally ill.

Hopefully they will get professional help immediately, perhaps the
Pratt Institute.

This seems relevant.

http://www.theeggmovie.com/audio/EC-02CH02cc.mp3

That is an interview with Joseph Matheny which is part of the archived El Centro materials.

Matheny has a film project called Ron and Jack according to this interview, as in Ron Hubbard and Jack Parsons. Later he says his Egg Project was canceled due to accusations that it was an arg.

So is this part of his canceled project? According to the internet archive version of theeggmovie.com, the Egg Project IS the film about Ron and Jack.
Quote:
COMING IN 2007

The EGG: An act in 3 plays

Part 1. The Papers (in 3 parts)

Part 2. Ron and Jack -A movie about the Babalon Working (Think Autofocus meets The Aviator)

Part 3. The Middle and End

Or did someone hijack his materials in an attempt to create their own argishness? Or did Matheny hijack his own material, putting it in unfinished form on the internet as a platform to get back at those who led him to cancel the Egg Project?

I will keep exploring the "forking paths" clues, but judging from the speed in which this thread attracted "players" of a different sort, I think this is more about mind games than alternate reality games.

A more recent archived version, from July 11, 2007 gives more details:

Quote:
COMING IN 2007

The EGG: An act in 3 plays

Chapter 1. The Papers (in 3 parts)

a. Pan and Me
b. The Incunabula Papers Audio Book (currently in production)
c. The Papers: An Audio/Visual Book History (currently in pre-production)

Chapter 2. Ron and Jack -A movie about the Babalon Working (currently in pre-production)

Chapter 3. The Middle and End (currently in pre-production)

Stay tuned

Pan and Me is linked to http://www.alterati.com/blog/?p=244

Finally the September 2007 version has this note:

Note re: the recent Theresa Duncan,Jeremy Blake articles that ran in the NYMag and LA Weekly, among other places. As noted in those two articles and a myriad of blogs and websites since, a person with questionable motives has somehow linked this early blog/book experiment and those two suicides. I had planned a lengthy rebuttal but a friend has already begun saying it as well as I would, so go here.

If I have anything to add, it's this: Theresa and Blake are two tragic examples of the very thought patterns that I was trying to criticize in El Centro and not unprecedented in their final outcomes because of it. To those that have said, 'They would appreciated what we're doing" I counter with a comment written to me by someone who DID know them "They would run screaming from these people."

I personally have one word for those people. FICTION. Look it up.
Quote:

Note: For anyone who may be here in search or a trailhead and/or rabbit hole, this work, like El Centro is not a ARG. This is merely a collection of works that tie together thematically and will be the page where I link to them as they are completed. If you know anything about ARGs, you know that I just violated a couple of rules, and I did so for your benefit. If you are seeking an ARG, go to ARGN.com, there are always plenty of games afoot there. If you're here to sign up to be notified of release of EGG components, the announcement list is at the bottom. Thanks.

This, of course, contradicts to a degree what he said in the interview in which he suggested it was very possible that Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake had been harassed by Scientologists (i.e. not just victims of their "thought patterns").
