Maybe someone could use these applications that cellphones have which recognize a song with just a few notes.

I've tried every melody search engine out there. This song is way too distorted to make out the first couple of notes, so I don't think that'd work. The sample is very small, also. But I swear I can hear a trombone or a tuba in the beginning, but the higher pitch part definitely has strings, cymbals and percussion. It's been bugging me since last night Sad

EDIT: More and more frustration. Now we can't even know which scale it's played on, since varying the speed varies the pitch. I guess our only lead is my friend's dad... I hope he replies soon.

ok so here's my take on the music. I think it sounds like a jingle BUT I also think it sounds classical. I can hear voices in it my boyfriend can hear oboe (sp?). If it is classical it sound extremely familiar so I'll look through my files and see if I own it. If not it shouldn't take too long to find.

Any possibility the song could be linked with 0?
He seems obsessed enough with it?

Wikipedia tells me Anton Bruckner composed a Symphony No. 0 in D minor.

Has anyone made any progress on identifying the musical?

We know that its practically impossible to identify by tonal identification software because it is so highly distorted.

Wow, OP really is brilliant. I'd never thought of this in a million years. And with the possible hint from J, there has to be something in it. Unless J's just playing along with it being a good idea, as if (in game character) he thinks it would be a good lead, like us.

K, that was really badly worded of me.

After listening to that entire song I didn't hear the part we're looking for.

I don't think this song is a classical one. It sounds more like a vaudeville-type song.

I think so, I've either heard it as a piece of music used for a show I performed in or during a dance exam...I'll have to look through the videos. I'm possitive I've heard it before.
