 		well, i have no idea what the above means. i thought about ILOVEBEES immediately when we started getting futuristic AI communications.

also, B.E. could stand for Bungie Entertainment.

however, Halo 3 has been released already. so has OSDT.

so... Halo movie? Halo: Reach?

perhaps, but the specific email address was mentioned. that's what i don't understand.

maybe it was planned to be used on a previous ARG and we can get some insight into the developers?

in fact Iris was the NAME of the Halo 3 ARG, if i recall correctly [also i just noticed it says so clearly in the screenshot =p]. why was the email tied to that webpage? someone help! lol.

i'm inclined to believe that perhaps a PM from the previous games is the PM for this game, and that he made the mistake of commenting using the IG email. maybe it's that simple and there's nothing more to it.

this begs the question, however. why was that email commenting on a german halo 3 countdown site (probably related to the IRIS arg) and WHAT was that email commenting about (maybe relative to his follow-up mini arg?).

Ok, you're not going crazy, but I can certainly see why. It makes no sense. It's some sort of marketing ploy most likely - a bot maybe. If you actually go to the web page - it's a site like www.download.com - meaning it's a site that links to, or hosts lots of other freeware/utilities. I searched through the page in both German and the Google translated version and there is no mention of Iris or the email address anywhere. The "Halo 3 Countdown" program itself, was simply a timer, so that avid Halo fans could watch something count-down to the release of Halo 3 - nothing more.

It's definitely weird - but I can say with a good amount of confidence, that the Sunshine Mine ARG, has nothing to do with Halo. It really is weird how it combined the two, and keep in mind that I know nothing about programming, but perhaps there was an script written that looked for similar words, similar subjects, etc - and told it to combine it all in one Google result.. I dunno. But I'm pretty sure it's nothing to worry about.

part of the Halo: Reach initiative is to lay a backstory to Halo. we know that by 2160 there were many solar systems populated by earth forces.

the year 2085 may be the first time earth forces ventured outwards to colonize other worlds. possibly they were forced to by the prospect of a disastrous effect of global warming. photosynthesis may be linked to terraforming systems to make them hospitable.

so, in essence, this game would be creating Halo lore that predates the prequel not even released.

OR it's 4pm and i want to go home from work and my mind is working overtime to keep me unbored.

I really want to believe there's no link, because that's the simplest and most rational explanation. I just can't get myself over the coincidences:

they haven't changed their signature. i'm pretty sure it wrapped up.

Hurh. I have to admit, those are some pretty convincing arguments. However, allow me to offer a completely counter-intuitive argument, that really has no basis, nor logic with what we're debating.

1) I know absolutely nothing about the "Halo" world, except what I've learned by watching random clips of Red vs. Blue.
2) Even after having watched said clips, I still have no interest in knowing and/or playing Halo.
3) I would probably lose interest in this ARG if I knew it was promoting Halo.

Ok - now - before anyone attacks me Wink I just want to state for the record, that I don't think there is anything wrong with the game Halo, nor that there is anything wrong with the people that do enjoy it. It just doesn't appeal to me. Frankly, I was getting tired of first-person shooters by the time the first Duke Nukem came out (did I just date myself? Laughing).

Most of that was intended to be funny, just in case someone out there is still trying to push their eyeballs back inside their head long enough to flame me hard enough to make the great Chicago fire look like a space heater.. Wink.

I think at this point we're reaching too hard. We've been told on several occasions that this ARG won't offically start till 2010 - hell, the main web-page for it says that, lol. So far we've had some fun with the PM's with the "pre-game" let's say - but I think this is just as Syn stated - "a backstory". To what? Who knows - but it'll be fun to find out.

So long as it's not for Halo..... Evil or Very Mad

 		here's my druthers:

Project Syzygy was maddening. and completely awesome. however it was a year long pregame to Perplex City. 1 year!

i can't handle that. i did it once. i didn't sleep for a year, only to be engulfed by pay-to-play puzzle cards. i almost got turned off ARGs completely, if not for some chemical addiction they seem to yield.

so, i'm beggin the PMs [because i know you're reading this] to do the following:

1) start it before 2010
2) if you can't, craft some kind of pregame.. game
3) make sure we have goalpost rewards, like WoW, so that we stay involved

i'm just speaking from experience. =p

example of a pregame. it didn't officially start until march, even though it was advertized since february, and then the actual game (PPC) didn't start until august.
