No, this isn't actually the game. We've been told a few times, that the game won't actually start until March (if I remember right) 2010. This is just a pre-game so to speak. But it's a great place to jump in.

While I was typing up this awesome response, I got impatient - and I blame you Syn, for your mention of the year long pre-game. So in the spirit of moving things along, I've signed the CA, and am attaching it to an email back to Craig with the agreement that the amended CA be sent so that everyone else can be included in with this.

yay! progress! haha. i bet craig will get back to us with some information as well as an analysis of the emails / songs (his daughter confirmed on twitter what a huge music fan he is).

also it will be interesting to see how iris responds to my email with the backwards words.

Man, you guys move fast in a few hours...

First off, just to put in my two cents, Institute for the Future of Medicine is definitely over. I played it, and it was awesome, but it's done with. I know that has little to do with this, but just thought that I'd clear up any confusion remaining.

As to the topic at hand, yeah, as far as I remember, this is all just pre-game right now. Which isn't to say that it's not a game, just not the game. Anybody who followed Intimation may or may not be aware that that game was similar: that "Prologue" was about 8+ months, and the actual game is just preparing to start now. Though the prologue was very enthralling in itself.

In any case, just because this has been labeled as pre-game doesn't mean that it should be written off as nothing. We've already had character interaction, which means that the PM is at least interested in playing a bit before the game really "starts." I'm thinking that what we do here will probably affect the game itself once it actually starts. And I don't know why, but I can't shake the feeling that Shanna is going to play some major role in this... probably just because many of the games that I've played recently had something to do with a young damsel in distress, haha.

2 thoughts here....

1) Awesome band (I think I just dated myself again).

2) I think we were just insulted...

---

And I also received an email back from Mr. Rogers, with a copy of the CA and his signature attached - explaining that:
Quote:
Before I can disclose my theories I am going to need to see everything that you have received from this "Iris" person.
*C

and for some reason, all of a sudden I get a greasy feeling.

-edit-
I spent a few minutes trying to explain the odd feeling about this, but I can't quite phrase it correctly. Something just feels off.

My gut reaction is to reply to him and explain that the agreement we just signed works both ways - which was the intent to begin with. I'm probably over-reacting, but I don't feel very encouraged to share anything with him.

Thoughts? It's gas, not bad feelings? I'm justified? Get over it?

Sorry if any of this has been driven in to the grave, but:

i'll check that twitter ASAP. i also want to share this little snapshot of a google search that is making me go insane with confusion:

Iris was the title of the Halo THREE arg. I've had a few suspicions that this might be of a Halo:Reach ARG, but i'm fairly certain that it is not, because: with both ILB and Iris, their was a significant amount of info coming through the bungie website/forums as well, and so far, there hasnt even been the slightest rumor of a Halo: Reach ARG. If their had been...those guys would have picked up on it, and also, the bungie crew likes nothing better than dropping hints. My two cents.

Only way I can see this being a Halo: Reach ARG is if what we are doing now is just BB trying to keep us interested until the actual ARG starts. (And he is doing a good job of it!)

Futuristic AI sending broken up message - IrisSPLATsunshinemine15.com vs ILOVEBEES
Halo 3 Countdown page - IrisSPLATSSM15.com email tag
2010 Heating Up - Halo: Reach release in 2010
Photosynthesis - large involvement in terraforming, which is a big theme in Halo

=/

I wish this wasn't pregame and the PM could give us another clue.

Hurh. I have to admit, those are some pretty convincing arguments. However, allow me to offer a completely counter-intuitive argument, that really has no basis, nor logic with what we're debating.

1) I know absolutely nothing about the "Halo" world, except what I've learned by watching random clips of Red vs. Blue
.
2) Even after having watched said clips, I still have no interest in knowing and/or playing Halo.
3) I would probably lose interest in this ARG if I knew it was promoting Halo.

Ok - now - before anyone attacks me Wink I just want to state for the record, that I don't think there is anything wrong with the game Halo, nor that there is anything wrong with the people that do enjoy it. It just doesn't appeal to me. Frankly, I was getting tired of first-person shooters by the time the first Duke Nukem came out (did I just date myself? Laughing).

Most of that was intended to be funny, just in case someone out there is still trying to push their eyeballs back inside their head long enough to flame me hard enough to make the great Chicago fire look like a space heater.. Wink.

I think at this point we're reaching too hard. We've been told on several occasions that this ARG won't offically start till 2010 - hell, the main web-page for it says that, lol. So far we've had some fun with the PM's with the "pre-game" let's say - but I think this is just as Syn stated - "a backstory". To what? Who knows - but it'll be fun to find out.

So long as it's not for Halo..... Evil or Very Mad

Even if it is a Halo ARG (Disclaimer, I play halo as well as some othervideogames occasionally, but am not a fanboy by any means) it dosent mean you should write it off. ILB was one of the most popular and highly acclaimed ARGs, and that was promoting the release of Halo 2...Even with people who had no interest in Halo at all.

New picture on the site and new song "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce. (This is definitely not Shanna's Dad's playlist. Very Happy)

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that Id like to do
Is to save every day
Till eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
Id save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
Ive looked around enough to know
That youre the one I want to go
Through time with

If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
Ive looked around enough to know
That youre the one I want to go
Through time with

Looks like either Prone or Prune in the corner

or "phone" and there's a number hidden somewhere. maybe in the brailish code we didn't crack.

*edit* no, that's definitely an "R". Time in a Bottle is also a book by James G. D'Alessandro.

the picture looks like a thermal image of something.

I just sent CR the first email I received from Iris, giving a bit of history behind it etc. I asked for his thoughts and theories on it, and I would continue to try and locate all the emails I received from Iris.

One question tho - at some point, we figured out "Iris" stood for something - Ipswitch Rsomethign Isomething Ssomething .. and I wasn't able to locate the page it was one. Does anyone recall?

I had one other thought, and it probably won't bear out - but what if all of the pictures that have been posted on the Mine website so far, are a smaller part of a larger picture? I realize that in hindsight they couldn't possibly fit together (the spaceman/spacewalk and the redwood trees). Work permitting today, I'm going to try and grab a copy of each of the pics we've posted and put them together in order - maybe they tell some sort of story.. /shrug.

I'll let you know when I've heard back from CR or Iris.

I sent an email to IRIS a bit ago using some perl commands, this is what I got back...

I realized i buggered the code a bit, im rubbish with perl, so I fixed it up as best I could and sent it back again...i'm probably pursuing something fairly worthless, but im curious to see what a system/file check on IRIS would come up with.

we're getting jumbled bits of a message through email replies (ie. fragsend):

so far.

When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,

War correspondent William Russell, who witnessed the battle, declared "our Light Brigade was annihilated by their own rashness, and by the brutality of a ferocious enemy".[2]

This seems to suggest that we are the Light Brigade, and that we are (perhaps foolishly) throwing ourselves at something without pause to consider the meaning.

In other words, "be patient".
