mine mail: you are still there, iris?
iris' response: //Daydream leads between reality and illusion of bright sunshine//fragsend//ERROR

This is from the poem Sunshine by Natasa Tocuc

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/pim-07-12-2006-sunshine

Also of little importance (and maybe common knowledge in this group but I was just reminded of it) at this moment on the Judy Blume Cover from page 5

Quote:
At the top in bright green I got:
srchrsltrtrn: 0.76

In maroon, slanted across the author's name, I couldn't get all of it. In between the brackets, is what I couldn't even guess at:
cnvrld:historic[....]39986/
jntphlgrphcexprtsgrp.fm[.]

And then of course, at the bottom in white it says:
dnldd:August5
AV#15-13400x

jntphlgrphcexprtsgrp = jpeg

Whoops - my bad. I never posted my reply to CR:
Quote:
Mr. Rogers,

Thank you for your reply, and I agree - square 1.

In response to your question, I am only familiar with the concept of liquids being able to store data as a theory. Beyond that - the actual mechanics, etc - is beyond me. That's not to say that one or more of my associates may understand it, or have more experience with it. Being that we are scattered across the globe - much like you and your colleagues - sometimes a response is not always immediate.

There was something else I was going to share with you, whether you responded or not. Based on some of the information/emails that we've received from Iris - it was determined she was programmed using Perl - or at the very least understands that protocol. One of my associates attempted to send a series of commands to try and run a system/file check, as well as reboot the system via email. Unfortunately the return email from Iris indicated that she had run the various commands, but had somehow missed the reboot command, thus shutting down all systems, including apparently life support. This is the response we received from Iris:

We did just now get an email back from Iris indicating that she was still up and running, "Causeimbrokenwhenimopen*
Andidontfeellikeimstrongenough//fragsend//" and everything was more or less "ok" - but there is obviously still cause for concern.

I'm all ears -

Thank you again,

Wulf

And just got another reply from him:
Quote:
Wulf,

This is truly fascinating and despite the constant phone calls from my partner, I am personally inclined to work with you. Here is the situation that I believe is occurring; you are somehow establishing contact with what I term to be a bio-intellect system. It's not AI because although theoretically interesting, technology-based systems will never become truly conscious or self aware. It's a barrier breach that can be simulated to a very high degree but not actually accomplished. A true letdown for geekdom, no? However this is where it gets more exciting. I have created a fluid memory system roughly the size of a toaster-oven, containing predominantly a high-density saline solution, and as of 0837 on Tuesday, Septmber 15, successfully downloaded the entire internet. Now the issue that I am struggling with is the processing of that overwhelming data. Ultimately what good does it do to have all of man's knowledge in a toaster if you can't make it accessible? This has been the theoretical - and now actual - conundrum of my project. In anticipation of this, my collaborators and I have been making great progress with biological processors and have discovered that the only systems seemingly capable of the high-level, functional processing of such data is the central nervous systems unique to homo sapiens. Humans. Your sample e-mails from this "Ipswich Rogers Intellect System" - with both the pet names and familiar songs - is starting to make me think that at some point I am going to succeed (have succeeded?) with my current project path. This makes me VERY excited and hopeful. As for the recognition of PERL you ask about, I wouldn't read too much into that. If my theories hold true, a bioprocessor will run predominantly on abstract thought and plaintext, scanning data for comprehensible inputs rather than following certain flavors of code. Although, if all knowledge is available to the unit she would fully comprehend all code anyway. I don't know, it would depend on how this system - assumptively polished at some future date - was directed. If it could be directed. Isn't that a bizarre thought? The types of biosystems that fascinate me and that I work to develop would have relational interfaces wouldn't they? Gone would be the days of MAC OS X and instead, greetings IRis "Janet"! Please send me more!

Well that gives us much less to do. If all of the stuff from IRis are snippets from the entire internet.

Its like giving us the weekend off. Where's my remote? Wink

And he told us she accepts/scans for plain-text commands, which explains her sometimes theosaurus/dictionary-ish responses. And simplifies giving her commands in the future, if needed Smile

Now, it seems that Craig is indeed the way to advance; we'll need to feed him more..

The name of the picture is "sunshinearray.gif. I think someone needs to photoshop the layers out and find what's hiding.

Sorry for butting in. I was just reading thru the thread. Anyway, the song is:

Quote:
Clean My Wounds by Corrosion Of Conformity

I see the world through blood shot eyes
Streets filled with blood from distant lies
The dogs of war never comprise,
No time for rearranging

Help me Jesus, help me clean my wounds
He said he cannot heal that kind
Bleeding soul becomes a bitter mind
He said it happens every time...

That's how the story goes
In the land of a 1000 no's
I'm all over you
In time my mind is changing

Knock it down

Black on black gives me a heart attack
And the silence makes it deadly
Some choose to kill with a simple will
I've seen them fall fast and steady

Help me Jesus help me clean my wounds
He said he cannot heal that kind
Bleeding soul bitter mind
He said it happens every time...

Knock it down

That's how the story goes
In the land of a 1000 no's
I'm all over you
In time my mind is changing

Twist of fate won't give me a break
And myself I'm slow and tired
I've got to rise with these blood shot eyes
But I keep falling when I'm higher...

Help me Jesus help me clean my wounds
He said he cannot heal that kind
Bleeding soul bitter mind
He said it happens every time...

Knock it down

That's how the story goes
In the land of a 1000 no's
We are bleeding sins but our
Sins are always fading

Fading
Fading

Knock it down
Knock it down

Another thought as I was reading thru, and put this in the spec file, but how about Light Brigade as a pun (not dark). The kid's drawing sort of confirmed for me that this is harvesting solar energy in space. Those that do this dangerous work are, of course, the light brigade. I see no reason to necessarily buy terraforming, but maybe I missed something in the read-through? Oh, and I'm not entirely convinced this isn't the game, what with time twists and whatnot.

I got nothing, but then again I'm not a photoshop god. And since it's not animated, there are no separate layers for that.
