[ARG? TW?] Asylum 626
From Snack Strong Productions

Ran across this...

http://www.asylum626.com/

It's from "Snack Strong Productions", which are the same people that did the Doritos' "The Quest" promotion. It's also linked from the Doritos' Flash home page ( http://www.snackstrongproductions.com/ ).

Among the keywords on the site it lists "augmented reality", so whether it's a true ARG for the collective hive mind is yet to be determined.

Since I'm currently at work, I can't really go browsing a creepy, video intensive website right now. Smile

So is this a "game" or a "timewaster", hm?

the term "augmented reality" refers to a technology for overlaying information on a screen, in this case a webcam image but it can also be done on mobile devices. The term itself is completely unrelated to the story-telling technique of "alternate reality" games or chaotic fiction, although the technology has been put to use within ARGs and other "extended experience" websites.

This is not a "true ARG" or an ARG in the collaborative story-creation sense. It is more of a web film with an interactive element for individuals to create more of an immersive feeling. The article I linked to in the other thread goes into detail as to the uses of augmented reality to enhance the experience.
