All right. I have a couple ideas. For one, has anybody tried building on this idea, by splicing the SMPTE color bars, shifting them up a few pixels so they line up perfectly, then applying the same change for the whole clip? That may be what the color bars are trying to tell us to do.

That's because they are:

A normal SMPTE Colour Bars image (taken from Wikipedia):

The same image, with the original layer duplicated, shifted down a few pixels, then reduced in opacity to about 17% (all done in photoshop):

The image at the beginning of Program:

Also, as a side note, the nearest rain in the clip appears to be dripping off from something, implying that it was shot from either inside another building, or under an overhang.

Ya I definitely second this. People have commented on the pinkish discoloration in the columns and the like, I thought the person who originally performed this manipulation on the color bars was going to do the same manipulation for the whole video and kept expecting to hear about it but I guess they never did.

I like the Grilles Idea *kudos* but i dont think we have everything we need.

I am only aware of 3 grid patterns 1 of which is not even, i believe that if it is a grilles it will need to be an even square. (12x12 or 15x15) like the slashes like in regards. The other is in impurity but since some of the 0's are off the frame its hard to say how many there are. But if you only count the totally visible 0's it counts to 44 x 20.

Has anyone been able to arrange all the patterned 0 and - from the program video into an even grid? Perhaps the 12x12 slashes from regards?

I think if this is indeed a grilles we are missing the cipher string in which to put into our grid and then use our key on.

Another idea was perhaps that CLOSELY and BLEEDMORE is meant to be read top to bottom (since after you enter your letters into the grille, you then read the letters top to bottom to give you a cipher) It comes out like this or something close its hard to say since the C in closely is not really lined up with the rest as well as BLEEDMORE has 3 letters in the top, i just shifted the E in the first line to start a 3rd line from top to bottom

CLSLOEYBEMRLDOEE ( if this is the cipher then we need grid size and KEY which i think is in the program video, but i am unable to slow it down enough to count all the flashes and thus be able to build a grid but i do know if its like the post in page one then its 12 sets then i personally am not able to make it into an even square.)

I hope this helps someone to shake something loose. Feels like this tale may go in a direction now.

My thought is that if the grids in "Program" are some kind of code, then the Sigma in the lower left corner also means something, e.g. itīs the key. Itīs a Sigma, as written at the end of words, itīs the 18th letter of the Greek alphabet...

My personal assertion is that it's a lowercase zeta - the 6th letter of the greek alphabet ζ, because of the way it curls up at the top. The ζ in this font isn't quite right, but having studied physics for the past 4 years, I've seen pretty much every way you can possibly write every greek letter, and most people write zeta like in this video.

Not that I'm saying it isn't the end of word sigma, just pointing out all the possibilities. It could just be a really weird 5.

@JonasBurns:

If you go back to the first page, the first thing I do is list all the flashes of the zeroes and dashes as they appear.

Your welcome.

Really it could be anything, my only real thought was that once the pattern was discovered for the grilles cipher we would be able to use these words to confirm it. As you see here in this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tangiers2.png on Wikipedia that often small grills are used to hide a single word or sometimes referred to as a keyword

@nightmare I did see that, thanks. I was really just trying to point some of the flaws i saw considering the Grilles cipher and the information we have.

I cannot put those 12 sets of patterns into an even square, you can however take the 4 repeating patterns and make them 2 grids of 4x4. Which also falls inline with the grills solution, perhaps all 12 go in a specific order in sets of 2's or some such thing my brain cant connect. I was just hoping that my thoughts would help someone else catch that one piece they needed to solve this.

I suspect that ARK is the key to unlocking much of the answers to the questions posed here.

Anyone looked into the color bars? that has to be a key to something in this vid. I'm trying to find info on them now, someone must be able to use them?

Well, I'm actually logged in, and this time, for a reason:

I've come to the conclusion that, perhaps the code featured in this may have something to do with the music and film-reel sound.

Specifically, a Player Piano.

They use papers like this:

To program the piano's music. The holes indicate where the hammers will strike, and when.

Also, a program itself may be a reference to the "programs" handed out at musical events to dictate which songs will be played, and in what order.

Thoughts?

...That's genius man, now all we need is to translate it...

Wait a minute, didn't we hear music in some of the totheark vids?

Specifcally, in Program and Regrads.

AND THE MUSIC IN PROGRAM IS ON A LOOP. A very short loop!

EDIT: MORE IDEAS.

The wavering "S" is a G Cleff or some other musicy thing.

Oh god yes I like this piano idea. Perhaps the music notes spell a word. Face, egad, and dead are some possibilities. I know much about music, so perhaps I could be useful. Smile

If that's the case, the second and fourth letters would have to be repeated.

Perhaps totheark is trying to alert us to the "dead cabbage bag."
