Can anyone here explain the odd pink coloration on the columns of the building? Perhaps this is one video on top of another?

first post, just wanna help. no clue if this is going anywhere. if you turn it on it's side you can interpret dashes as 1's. you get: (clockwise) (according to thenightmarecomplex's post)

0101
0010

0001
0000

0011
0001

0001
0000

you can also flip it the OTHER way (counter clockwise).
i instantly thought ascii, but that's kinda pushing it and also it turns out to be gibberish both ways.

also, i thought maybe the 0's and -'s corresponded to the letters at the end, what with them being a similar shape (though the first line has an extra character).

long story short i got nothing.

edit: the first line's zeros never get changed, so maybe it DOES correspond with the letters in the end. if you write out every letter in the place that turns into dashes, it turns out like this:

dme

e

ore

e

can't make anything of it though.

I checked it for lost frames and didn't find anything. Are you sure what we're looking at a door? Looks more like a double window, slightly open to me - each side has some sort of horizontal (wood?) thing attached between the vertical white bits.

Kinda looks like old school 3D. Probably not though.

Could you imagine SM in 3D??

I would truly rather not.

No door? What do you mean?

Like, while the zeroes flash, the door disappears?

We can't forget the three 0's in the video description either.

EDIT: Also, just at quick glance, it looks as if the frame shifts right as well. I don't know if this tells us anything, could be handheld. Thought it's kinda smooth.

Point is, it isn't very stationary, and the other one that wasn't stationary was when J headed to the car.

I've got it loaded into FCP, anything I can do for you guys? I still have to slow down Deluge for that one guy, I'll probably work on that in a bit.

Interesting. At first it looked like a house standing in water, with the bottom part being a reflection. But it has that weird background, i thought it was looking past the house. But it now looks more like an entrance to a large warehouse type building or something else, where the "background" is actually part of the structure. geez, my eyes are playing tricks on me and I'm not making sense! i swear there are more letters in that big branch. bedtime already?

twixbucket, is there anything worth noting about the colour bars at the start? As I understand it, they are reference colours used to calibrate TVs, is that correct? What might totheark be trying to say with them?

Color bars come before a final cut of a project, especially if you're to hand it to someone who's gonna be broadcasting it.

The weird thing is that it's usually accompanied by a tone, and then black, and then a "slate" telling what it is, who did it, how long, etc.

But to answer you question directly, yes, they can be used to calibrate. I just spent some time looking at them, and it almost looks overlaid like the rest of the video.

According to wikipedia the tone is a 1kHz sine wave - the audio from Impurity, clearly.

That's because they are:

A normal SMPTE Colour Bars image (taken from Wikipedia):

The same image, with the original layer duplicated, shifted down a few pixels, then reduced in opacity to about 17% (all done in photoshop):

The image at the beginning of Program:

Yep.

When comparing the usual SMPTE color bars to the ones in the video, they are definitely off. I'm trying to correct them to what they're supposed to be, but having a hard time.

Also, just for reference in case anyone is messing with color like I did, I tried turing the reds up all the way and looking for stuff, taking the message "Bleed More" in a color kind of way. Nothing really.

This might be nothing:

Good work, sorry I didn't see that before saying that they're definitely off, you were much more technical than I would have been. Good work :]

Edit: Are we getting anywhere with audio? I can take a look at it, but definitely not my department.
