Ghost Theory

I have a theory that might just be totally wonky, but I just wanted to get it out there and get some feedback on it.

What if Slenderman isn't a monster or some Lovecraftian Creature in Marble Hornets. I think Slenderman might be more on the lines of Ghost/Spirit/Poltergeist.

Some one who got stuck in an accident that had fire heavily involved in it. I think Slenderman looks like he was heavily burned. Plus there was a lot of allusions to fire.
The red tower being a training thing for firemen, the picture of the forest on fire, that abandoned building looked like it might have went through a fire, Jay's apt being set on fire, Alex wanting to burn the tapes.

Maybe Masky is possessed by Slenderman or influenced by his presences. Like filled with anger or pain due to how Slenderman died?

I'm thinking all the stuff that happened might be because the Cast of Marble Hornets went a little crazy due to the attracted attention of Slenderman.
Maybe while filiming they disturbed his spirit or something?
A lot of ghost stories have the idea that once you disturb a spirit they latch onto you and haunt you instead of a place, this could have happened to Alex, and the rest of the Marble Hornets crew.

Some other stuff to support Ghost Theory:
Slenderman seemingly disappears suddenly a few times (monsters tend to be a bit more coporeal).
The house has elements of a haunting (Jay's last visit...magic doors leading to places they ought not to).
Ghosts have been said to effect electronics with their presence.
Jay has had moments he looked or acted possessed.
Animals seem very sensitive to spirits and usually get harmed due to this sensitivity (Disappearance of Rocky, dead animals on brian's lawn)

Uh if you can find other supporting evidence it'd be great if you could post it up!

I don't think you could really classify Slender Man as anything.

He just IS.

But for the sake of this topic, I'm willing to lean more towards poltergeist. Aren't they the ones that are supposed to be fire-weilders? That would make more sense to me.

He does seem to be more of a poltergeist than a monster, doesn't he? I agree with SickSlickMan, though... have never classified him specifically as any one thing. The need to neatly categorize him into something neat and tidy is less strong than the titillation of the unknown!

I suppose that another point in the ghostly category is that bullet casing? If it wasn't used as a means of suicide, it could have been that someone was trying to put a bullet through SM, but that it didn't work. If he's not especially corporeal, that could be why it didn't work?

That's all I've got at the moment, though. You made a pretty good list, yourself!

You express your arguement well and the evidence is there for the theory. I just don't think the MH universe slendy is meant to be classified, bested, killed or banished. I think the end game will come through one of two options: Jay flees (further than an out of town hotel. More like out of the country), they all die (although theres been a lot of spooky goings on, not a lot of people have died yet - this would be a suitable climax).

If Slendy is a ghost then there are probably ways to combat him - he is a much more imposing figure when he is just... a thing! Like Dray says.

I applaud your initiative and gumption with coming up with a theory and following it through - the way MH is going at the moment it does feel a little lacklustre and robust theorycrafting is the only thing we can latch on to.
