NewClearDawn.com
ARG?

I've come across this strange website: http://www.newcleardawn.com which may be related to the mysterious IDM group Boards of Canada. Both this website and the website boardsofcanada.com share the same whois domain name info and may be some kind of viral ARG related to a new album coming out soon.

Does anyone else here know anything or have any more info about this?

thanks Cool

Couldn't help but notice the first letters of the small text from the logo spells out FNORD

Hehe, yeah FNORD... Illuminatus! Trilogy reference kinda links with all the Masonic symbolism in the images (eg: eye in triangle logo = Eye of Providence / All-Seeing Eye; the pyramid; owl; handshake, etc...) Plus the name (reference perhaps a hint at Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, or poss a similar new order (NWO?!?! lol) Jeez, getting carried away hahaha! Very Happy And yeah, Bohemian Grove fits right in of course.

Well OP, unless Boards of Canada have got some strange exciting secrets up their sleeve, I don't know if this is an ARG or not..... great one for the conspiracy theorists though! ESPECIALLY as you have posted with the name 888.... hmm oh Lord, that all adds up hehe Wink

I think the New Clear Dawn might actually be just a pun for nuclear dawn

on their label warp.net page http://warp.net/records/boards-of-canada

they recently changed the header image to this:

it never used to be like that before

it's definitely strange, the newcleardawn.com site might just be a holder for when an album comes out, or maybe it will be the name of the new album.

thanks again for the ideas

Yeah of course....nuclear! A bit random though if it is linked in with their stuff (BOC, that is). Still, in the wonderful world of marketing, anything goes I suppose Smile

haha yeah, it's been 4 years since their last album, so i'm sure they are planning something. i'm not too sure if they would be the kind of people that would do an ARG but maybe it's the label's call. definitely can't wait for the new album though haha

From their Wiki page:

"They have also expressed a strong interest in the power of subliminal messaging and their work is full of cryptic messages, including references to numerology and cult figures such as David Koresh of the Branch Davidians, amongst other vague hints. When questioned about their aims in making such references, BoC express themselves in neutral terms ("We're not religious at all [...] and if we're spiritual at all it's purely in the sense of caring about art and inspiring people with ideas.") while remaining fascinated with the ability of music to influence the minds of others ("[We] do actually believe that there are powers in music that are almost supernatural. I think you actually manipulate people with music...")."

I think its just normal stuff for them. Now maybe it might turn into a NIN-type ARG, but for now I'd just add it to the "interesting" category.
