@airportdisco

try shift + f5 on that page. I think it forces your browser to redownload instead of using cached things. (not an expert in case you can't tell Smile)

prospector and vessel

if anybody's up for it, i think we ought to brainstorm hard on the prospector and vessel pages. it seems HS is pretty clearly stating that the answers will count this cycle, so let's give it a shot. contribute any theory, idea, game, movie, book, whatever to the forum and see if we can get an answer or solution or something. heretic said something about nemo and nautilus, i was thinking of Fred C. Dobbs from 'The Treasure of the Sierra Madre' for prospector and "The Wreck of the Maria Doria" from Tomb Raider 2, for vessel. i'm the first to admit that they're probably way, way wrong, but i'd like to prime the pump and get the forum flowing with idears. in the words of ben bailley 'you in?'

prospector thoughts

The only parallel with games or movies I can come up with for prospector is a fantasy MMO e.g. World of Warcraft. For example, say you're a hunter, you can have a pet that you capture from the mobs around you and it aids you in fighting. And if you want to craft something that requires an ore you can go around and mine regardless of where it is. The maddening could be referring to a berserk spell/ability.yes I realize how nerdy all that was.

I plan on tackling the scribbled text later today.

@knucklehead
Vessel is killing me. It sounds EXACTLY like a sci-fi movie I watched a couple months back and I can't for the life of me remember which one. Gah.

Also, as for answers counting now...I wonder how far back that goes. I would assume "Hollywood" is in the running...but what about the whole Hamburg/Hamburger thing? And who/what is responsible for the deaths of three postal workers in 1973 in Minnesota? And most importantly...what do we do with the answers?
For the most part, entering answers in the browser bar seems pretty ineffective and infuriating. Perhaps we should all just straight up email him what we think the answers are. Like "I think you're talking about Samuel Goldwyn in 'Hollywood'. Am I right or what?"

@Seadevil4
Man, that seems to lend credence to my long held and surely wrong belief that HS is Carl and he's observing his past/alternate self. Great. Now I'll be stuck on that again.

p.s.- the index is inverted on both for me now so my last couple posts were a total waste of time. disregard. sorry guys.

I just realized for "vessel" that I've been thinking of Event Horizon.

Though based on my memory of it, I'm not sure where "blasting water contrabassoon at enemies from unnatural realms" came into it. Everything else pretty much fits though.

(It's possible I'm mixing up a couple of different movies though. I should really just sit down and watch it again. I don't know why I'm making it sound like a chore...it's an amazing movie.)

D'oh, thought of event horizon, but the water thing threw me. should have said anyway. sounds a bit like pandorum too if you've seen that.

I'm watching it now. Look farmiliar?

I guess the current index could have something to do with meeting the event horizon of a black hole and the subsequent time travel or dimensional travel as broached by Sphere and Event Horizon respectively.

Also, here is my unrevealing attempt at the scribbled out text in prospector. It's a .psd to preserve layers. Link

Edit: Apparently contrabassoon in trying to be a (forced) meme on /x/ for those interested.

I'd emailed Hatshoe about a week ago about an out of body experience I'd had since it'd been brought up. This is what I got back:

"Maybe everything since that moment has been a projection forward
Maybe at that point you made a transition
These are of interest to me
They say the brain thinks backwards
Perhaps time projected this way as well"

For anyone interested, I'll post my full message on the wiki.

@Dancing Metroid

Holy hell.
That's one hell of a(n almost) straight-forward response.
That's gotta be the right track.
You reply yet?

first thing I thought of was 2 by 4 as in 2"x4" piece of wood.

to for against all sound right prceded by nothing but nothing by sounds weird in my ears.

just some thoughts...

remember the "two without" bit? I feel like we're near a clue here . . . 'nothing' tangible though

also @ dancing metroid: WOW! you seem to be in tune with the mood of hatshoe right now. maybe that oobe stuff is a significant element in the hs story. I would like to see your communication TO him (you're definitely doing it right); did you say it's at the wiki? where?

also doctor who's 'black guardian trilogy'.
1)meets a new alien companion, Turlough, touching a weird light-bulb like communicator in the first part (mawdryn undead) and
2)the crew spends time on ocean styled ships in a race in the second part (enlightenment)
3)third part is lepers and norse mythology, entitled, terminus

lastly, goingup's links to the chan contrabassoon shenanigans, precedes the WoC quote with the, breakup line: After the events of this evening, I think it would be best if we never saw each other again. Anybody else send anything that might have sparked THAT response?

Well that reminds me of Donnie Darko and the book called:An Experiment with Time by J.W. Dunne which talks about your dreams remembering the future. Just emailed HS asking whether he has come across the book.
