Looking at "Recipe," does anyone know what this might be a recipe for? At first I was reminded of how to clean tarnished silver (aluminum, water, baking soda).

But the whole mirror positioning thing doesn't make sense. I'm thinking this is another odd interpretation of something else, the same way that the video game and movie descriptions have been "off."

I don't know if anybody else has noticed this, or if it means anything, but I've noticed that some (but not all) of the most recent pages have a very subtle but quite visible mark in the upper left. Just thought I'd mention it; probably not meaningful.

Door Unlock
Notes
Spider
Bone
Outlander
Dog Lady
Recipe

Maybe he's marking out the important pages? But that wouldn't make much sense considering 'Bone' is about Skeletor's Penis and there's nothing in the script of that page.

I emailed the twitter account holder about the quote, it turns out he got the quote from hatshoe.org, but I emailed him back to ask if he created it, as if he's the PM it's probably best not to be chatting with him OOG.

Also, got an email from hatshoe himself, don't know if anyone else got it but I asked him about the quote, the recipe and the message he wrote all the way down on the page 'Doglady'. Not a regular reply for this one, quote interesting in fact. I'll show you all.

It seems as if we're being asked to be like a teacher as we look through these pages. Maybe we mark the mistakes? I looked through and there aren't a terrible amount of them. I also figured the 'faded' reference was the word that mehetabel found in the 'station' page but couldn't find a way of entering it.

Awesome. Gold star for you, and another for the PM for giving us a hint.

One of the first - one of the first posts.
Pedagogue - I think your instinct is right; use what's missing or wrong
Faded - not sure, maybe makes more sense when we get the answer
Enter It - my best guess is that it will become a URL for the site, i.e. if the answer is "faded" then it's http://www.hatshoe.org/faded.html (just like hallucinine)

I will start looking more closely. I'd already been down that path but now that we have this hint I'll redouble my efforts.

"Paradigm of a pedagogue": Teaching, learning, education, instruction ... I'm running out of related words, here...

"Faded": I'd guess it's something about text hidden in an image, but I haven't found anything there, yet. Still checking the most recent two, but he said it was "one of the first", so...

And, no, 'nose' (of which which I found a potential image in 'breathing') doesn't work as a page or a directory.

hey, ive been lurking but thought id post what i found, if you alter the brightness/contrast on the page that was e-mailed to us, there is a note, which says
"brightness and contrast"

sorry i cant post a screen shot, ive got no time to.
I recon thought is is a clue that maybe you need to do something similar with one of the other pages.

Thinking like a pedagogue.

Castles:

The "Poor Knights" are technically termed the Military Knights of Window and are not, in fact, poor, but military pensioners.

Saint Columba did not record the first sighting of Nessie; it was Adomnān, who wrote apocryphally about Saint Columba a century after his death.

Bernard: the last guide of Dante, "Doctor of the Church", had a "contemplative mysticism"

Augustine of Hippo: also Doctor of the Church, Father of the Church

thought: they were all saints, except Charlemagne

excommunicated multiple times: Photius. Frederick II.

Quoting myself, because it's become relevant.
Quote:
In 'breathing', if you turn the brightness down to about -10 and the contrast up to about +90, there's what appears to be a nose, above the fold. Also, I may be totally out of my mind. You tell me.

In 'station', with B -18/C +92, the word 'COMING' appears in the bottom right corner. This was awesome until I matched it up with the same section of page from 'door unlock', from which it had obviously scratched through. *sigh*

In 'notes', the PM refs having written too hard, and says that the words from the previous page are visible on that one. No matter what I do to that image, they're not there. I can't find anything like what appeared in 'station'.

That round checked everything through Outlander. No hits on Doglady or Recipe.

'Natural' reveals a smiley face.

Another subversive connection:

On the "Favourite Thing" page, the PM spells 'favourite' with a 'u,' which is traditionally a European spelling (not traditional to Modern American Vernacular English), but he still mentions 'dollars.'

Could he be based in Canada? (Not that this specifically matters to the clues, but it might give us a peak into his head.)

I just heard of this today from 4chan's /x/ forum and am starting to become really involved. I lurked through all four pages of this thread, though I haven't read anything else regarding 'Trailhead' (whatever the hell that is). Are they meant to be connected?

Anyway, I'll take a look through these to find out what's up. I e-mailed hatshoe, but he didn't respond. I'm especially curious about the three most recent pages, and whatever connection there may be between Batman and the Elder Scrolls games, both of which I am a fan. Especially Batman.

[edit]

Hmm. A quick Google reveals this site:

http://hatshoe.nl/

I doubt it's related, but it's worth a look.

[edit]

Nevermind. That was a deadend.

He's definitely Canadian.

Hey! Welcome to unFiction! "Trailhead" means the start of a game, so [Trailhead?] is an indicator that when the thread was made, we weren't sure it was a game. You'll see a lot of that in the News & Rumors section, as this is where stuff starts.

Good on figuring out that he's Canadian, not that it's terribly relevant (at least not currently...). Can I ask what gave it away, besides the spare 'u', 'cause that could just as well have been several different kinds of European.

Well it was the mention of dollars i believe, as Canadians use dollars and spell some words the European way I believe. Also, when I was talking about what you found mehetabel, I meant the word 'coming' from the 'station' page. I tried to desteg the station page but got nothing. Also, if you look closer it actually says 'OH NO IT'S COMING' then the line of the G trails off, but the OH NO is really tough to spot, it's smaller and above the word IT'S. Also, we see this exact text on the next page, Door Unlock. Thought we were on to something but I'll keep looking.

The Twitter acount we found definitely has nothing to do with this game, got an email confirmation saying as such as the creator of the account found hatshoe on the /x/ boards, so best not to bother the guy anymore.

I checked every page by altering brightness and contrast and got nothing more than what we have already. Maybe it's because I was using Microsoft Office picture manager, maybe I used the wrong settings, but I got nothing. I found the 'brightness and contrast' message but nothing on any other pages that we haven't already seen.

I'm waiting for another reply from him to move on, as far as I can see we're stuck.

As a Canadian, this is true. Sorta. Canadian spelling is primarily the same as British spelling, with a few tropes and turns of phrase and colloquialisms that remain from American spelling (i.e. 'tires' instead of 'tyres'; 'recognize' instead of 'recognise'; etc.). Plus, in 'Recipe' he mentions aluminum; if he were British, it would be aluminium.

I'm fascinated by "tan" because its structure really suggests a hidden meaning. I mean, "purple tits"?

I realize this is a stretch, but it occured to me that maybe the "critical point" in "tanning" is a point inside the word, which made me think of "tannin". Tannin is the bitter substance in red wine which gives it its purple color. The reference to Cartoon Face Syndrome could simply be the reaction to the bitterness. Other than the purpleness of red wine, I can't make the connection with middle aged men (and their tits).

Like I said, it's a stretch, and even if I'm right I can't figure out where to go with it. But perhaps it will trigger something in someone else.
