I'm pretty sure Vigenere would let the ink dry before folding up the paper and stuffing a bottle with said paper. The line:

"Do not falter. The truth awaits." has residue left on the right side of the text, which is backwards because the paper was folded.

It seemed rushed. Almost like a troll. But, if this is true and is in-game (I doubt the money was real), it's an in-game character who is giving another clue and as such, the message he should not have shown (which I guess he shown by accident and then deleted, but apparently someone caught it and reposted it) says:

I could be wrong on "wishes" and "to the" ... but the rest seems pretty dead on. My eyes hurt from staining at looking at it, but here's the picture I had to work with, maybe you can do better, haha:



It is important to note that if you use the above message as the keyphrase for the vigenere on the following message, you can make sense of it. (And help you figure out what the actual text is)

Also, for reference, in case this note IS part of the game, here is the scrambled text from the same message:

Also, assuming that this in game, and the person said they found one of three bottles with money in it, the numbers on the old countdown page would seem to be coordinates. The first set of numbers:

Which would be in New York, although... I got it as a coordinate out in the ocean. Meh.

The next:

Could be:

Which is in Merrillville, IN 46410

(You can find out exactly where by typing in the two coordinates into, say, Google Maps). This points to some bushes near the back of a public building.

The last:

Could be:

Which is in Commerce, CA 90022

I'm no where near any of these other two locations, nor do I know anyone near these locations, so I can't verify if any of these are, in fact, coordinates or even real. So, unless someone wants to check, I don't think the coordinate idea will get anywhere. I'll email the 4channer and see if either of these two cities ring any bells.

The co-ordinates idea seems interesting, the repetition of the 14/23 for N/W seems to uniform to be a coincidence...

Being 10 miles off the coast is a bit strange... Anyone have a boat and some scuba gear?

I'm actually really liking the idea of this having been underwater, even if it's implausible on the surface.

a) the ink transfer seems consistent with the back side of the paper having gotten wet.

b) the bottle looks a little wet in the picture on the black background.

c) that would explain the sand (e.g. it being used to way down the bottle in the water)

d) I was kindof meh on the money, but there is one interesting thing.... The gold eagle thing on the second bill down from the top on the left side (the really brown one) is still totally pristine, as though its made from a different ink like on real money.

I have been following this on here since finding it on abovetopsecret.

I am very pleased to report that my brother-in-law has recovered a bottle similar to the one posted before, which seems to have been real, earlier today in Chicago.

It's message seems to be basically the same, except it says congratulations on finding "LY". We hope to be able to post pictures as proof some time tomorrow or the next day.
