Why does this plot sound very very familiar to me? (didnt I see something like this in stargate ?)
Yeah, I saw a story like this on tv. I think it was on one of the serial shows like Twilight Zone or the Cryptkeeper but newer.

Well, I got the original tweet from @under_the_dome (which I was already following from earlier).
The twitter bio reads:
# Bio To celebrate UNDER THE DOME - Stephen King's biggest book since THE STAND - we are starting the biggest game of literary hide and seek ever played
-- @under_the_dome was posting RT from someone else for anyone interested in under_the_dome to follow scarecrowjoe.
So..... IF the two are NOT part of the same, then under_the_dome is promoting both as the same time. So, I dunno.

hm. Well, under_the_dome is listed as location: UK, so it could very well be just bringing attention to the 'other' book campaign with scarecrowjoe's twitter. Dunno. Maybe we could get word from the horse's mouth on that somehow

I sent a tweet to under_the_dome and also asked on the FB, haven't heard back yet. Either way, Joe's character seems fun. I don't know yet which, if any, of the others have any online accounts yet.

Got this back from a pretty sloppy Police application:

Re: Chester's Mill Police Recruit Form
I'm not sure who you are, but you're definitely not Chuck... the information you provided doesn't match up.

maybe you should apply again using some of the info from the blog about chuck. I can't remember it all, but I think he went to a police academy and worked security somewhere.

Took my own advice and filled out the application correctly for Chuck and got the following email:
Quote:
Chuck!
It's been too long, buddy! Your nephew told me you might be applying. I hope you get the job. Let me know when you're coming back to the Mill.
Joe asked me to send this to you. I hope it makes sense to you... I think it is a replacement cipher.

awesome, dood! glad you followed that one. remember that book i downloaded, the one i told you about? that's the key to solving my next puzzle. here's how it works: the parts will all look like this: 16b37c. the first part is the page number. the first letter is the paragraph number. after that is the word number in that paragraph. if there's a 'c' at the end, you only use the first character. if there's a 'w,' you use the whole word, dig? since those doods are finally giving me some more content for the chester's mill middle school site, i'm going to start hiding more messages for you in the new pages. search through them to find more instructions. Alright natas!!
Now we can move along.
Maybe the book is:
Quote:
on my way to school this morning i stopped at the town common to check out the new story king is giving away at his website. i have to tell you, man, this free wifi is the real deal. it's blazing fast. much faster than the rinky dink dsl we had at home before WiMAX.
the cannibals is pretty cool, except i was disappointed nobody got eaten.
http://stephenking.com/assets/Include/Downloads/download.php?c=112009&f=TheCannibalsExcerpt.pdf
The example 16b37c would be an "h"? (unless its a different book)
I did spend some time doing another application, lets see if i passed or not, no e-mail yet.

"The Cannibals" is apparently an unfinished novel by King, and his inspiration for "Under the Dome".
Edit: Is scarecrowjoe an IG character or not? He posted a bit on his blog about ARGs and how it seems like stephenking.com might be making one about the Dark Tower-- http://stephenking.com/multimedia/dt_video/

It's ROT 7
What's that smoke?' Wanda asked suddenly, pointing northeast, toward 119. 'I don't know,' he said. 'Did my mother-in-law fart?' This cracked him up and he started laughing. Wanda Debec realized she had finally had enough. This clarified the world and her future in a way that was almost magical. She was turning to him, the words I want a divorce on the tip

This must be a hidden snippet from the Uk game.
http://beattiesbookblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/press-release-from-hodder-stoughton.html
The seekers playing that game would love to have this.
(so, Scarecrow Joe is passing along snippets of the novel that he's in. The lines are going to get a little blurry on this one.)
