QUESTION. I'm in the middle of reading Under the Dome right now. I've been avoiding this ARG because I don't want to risk reading spoilers. Is that wise?

Any luck decoding?

It looks like Joe's mixing up the codes on these new hints using some patterns he hasn't discussed with us before... Has anyone had any luck with the codes on the Social Studies page and onward? It's not the old Caesar Cipher like before... Confused

FYI, I only have about 100 pages to go in the book, and there have been no spoilers whatsoever with the ARG. Actually, I'm pretty sure the content from Joe's blog
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
isn't cannon to the story in the book, as the time lines don't exactly match up.

Hey, everybody. It's been quite a while! I don't think I've posted here since the Halo 3 ARG, Iris, back in 2007.

Anyway I was looking up background information about the book when I stumbled across this little network of sites and came here when I saw it had some hidden elements. I'm probably not going to participate (I've already read the book, which kills some of the intrigue factor in this puzzle), but I do have a clue nobody's caught so far.

On the website for Cathy Russell Hospital there is a PDF of the building's floorplan. In the bottom-right corner in minuscule text, hidden under the crossbar of the "H" in the helicopter landing pad, is the phrase: Red Rabbit.

It's not much, but I hope it helps. Good luck, and pick up the book if you can! It's pretty great.

 An Update

Just a few quick things...

I finished the book over Thanksgiving (fantastic read - absolutely one of King's best), and I can confirm that there are no spoilers involved with playing Joe's ARG outside of a passing familiarity with a few characters from the book.

As mentioned above...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Joe's posts on the blog definitely branch off into an alternate time line/story line from the book that is not cannon to the story.

Also, Joe corrected a clue on the Cafeteria page that may help solve the current puzzle... Looks like there are some intentional misspellings. Shocked

 Solution Found!

Just want to let you all know... Despite what you may think while you're decoding things, there is a working solution. Also (as hinted at in a late October post from Joe), it looks like it may be worth your time to solve it!

Be mindful of Joe's instructions and follow his spelling exactly. You'll have to use a lot of trial and error, but I can confirm that his instructions do work Smile Some of the most confusing parts are intentional (being vague I know).

Hope that helps!

Oh, and as far as I know, the helipad text mentioned previously has nothing to do with this... Maybe the new Dark Tower ARG?

I might have gotten in late on this but.... I love Stephen King. I am interested in reading his new book. After the comments I have seen here, I think I will love it.

Major, major props to stareater!!!

With the nudge from stareater (th4nks much!) I FINALLY GOT IT.

Hint:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
They're all substitution, parsing out the final is as hard as all rest, but doable if you follow instructions)

Hey stareater

i guess that's where i got the idea to play around here on my blog. who knows? someone clever might win a valuable prize, too! and it won't be a leg lamp, either! i won't say what it is, but it's gonna be rad.

could be some neat swag coming your way Smile

Think there could be some r3ward for the rest of us peons?
Did you use a substitution helper? CrypTool was of some help, but there are other good ones. I think there may a real solution to the seemingly random
substitution, i'll try to reverse engineer it when i get some time.

Again, congrats on a super job.

The last art decrypto's weird, but I can make some sense of it. It's all off, but the parts I can get are

"For the final part of the address, you're going to have to find out who said the...................once you have this information, it goes like this:-- author's first name, author's last name."

Working on it.

EDIT: This is what I have. Don't scold me, I'm new at this.

I belive "_ote" might be "vote." but my skills end here.
