its also worth noting that the spectrin tips show different marks for some of the tips

Tip 1 and Tip 6 are marked with a normal square.

Tip 2 seems to have a square with a solid line through it.

Tips 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 have a square with a slightly blurred line through them (appears to be the same image for all of these)

I initially thought that too, but I think it's just Adobe Reader. If you zoom in enough they all look the same.

ah ok, still worth noting that tip 1 and tip 6 have no lines while the rest do..

In my copy if you zoom in enough they actually have lines.

I see no difference at all in the bullet points. All of them are the same 4-blue-square design. At least in my copy of the file.

Probably doesn't hurt that I'm sitting in front of a 30" screen.

They all kinda sound like trigger lines. (three flowers in a vase, etc.)

Hi, I'm new here.
Did anyone find hints on the client booklet from Spectrin ? I've been googling it, but nothing came up.

Welcome DarthZbooom! Smile Unfortunately I haven't figured out that yet.

http://www.wipethefuture.com/ updated, it now says:

POWER MATTERS

I don't quite get the Spectrin's nature of business, are they like Paranormal FBIs for hire? I hate it when they(companies in general) use flowery words lol Very Happy

The tipsheet are like to-do's when you meet a doll, and some of tips sounds trigger word-ish to me too.

Actually, the tipsheet does't sound like it's geared towards dolls at all to me really. Always carry salt is something that is usefull for warding off evil spirits... the others seem to be just similar rules of thumb for multiple paranormal situations that one may find themself in. Doesn't sound like triggers or doll related, just good advice when dealing with the paranormal.

The posts on Whedonesque directed to the archive of the spectrin webpage : http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://spectrin.com

If you go on the first page, in 2003, it sends you to another webpage : a company named arachnocraft who seems to have designed the spectrin webpage. They seem to work in packaging & advertisement.

Is it part of the ARG ? or are they an actual company that was hired to create it ?
Also, why does the Spectrin webpage go back to 2004 and only appear around now ? It came online in its current version in june 2004, 9th. Before that it seems it was a sketchy version of the Arachnocraft website.

Edit : fixed links

Plus when you read Sara's notes

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

she seems to interpret Actives as being "possessed" - at least she seems to be under the impression she's been hired to investigate possessions. Interestingly the notes seem to say that if you tattoo the staves on the possessee they get "better".

Epitaph One had that whole thing with tattoos holding your true identity.

HMMM

Interesting, from what I can gather of what we've found so far...
It seems that Rossum Corp is going to cause problems with the future and we have been sent a few messages from that future to alert us to stop them.

Spectrin seems to be an investigative firm that goes after jobs that are paranormal or unexplainable by general investigative procedures.

Sara specifically, seems to be working on the case dealing with the dolls, but I don't think she actually understands that they're dolls. I think that she believes this to be another paranormal case dealing with people being possessed... Like when 3 different specialized doctors give 3 different diagnoses to a patient based on their expertise.

So, I believe we are supposed to help Spectrin realize that the possessions aren't paranormal, but rather scentific in nature. But, the use of staves may be the crossover item between the scientific and paranormal, so her methods may be a clue to how to stop Rossum's plan.

It would seem that we're supposed to combat the science with a more mystical solution. So, someone should contact Sara and try to fill her in on the dolls and Rossum Corp and see if we can work with her to change the future by bringing down Rossum. She obviously has the resources to be able to fight them Wink

Looks like this is going to be blowing up pretty quick... is anyone else able to help update the wiki at http://dollhouse.wikibruce.com? I'm going to sit down soon and go over it with the sites when I'm not at work, but it's getting behind on the recent updates

I wasn't convinced that the spectrin site was part of this until someone figured out the password. It's odd - it's been around too long, but I never found any evidence that it was a real company. Couldn't find an address, none of the people seem to exist, some of the info doesn't make sense in the real world, and so on. Interestingly, it's hosted on the same IP block as ditchthetech.com, but wipethefuture.com is hosted elsewhere. My guess at this point is that it was a site created as a demo or for another ARG that the PMs are recycling for this one.

As for Arachnocraft, they appear to be a real company. You'll notice that their name appeared on the spectrin site up until a few days ago. Since the name has been removed, I'd guess that isn't a link they want us to follow... some searching led me to a possible PM rather than anything new in game.

Some more thoughts to add to your great summary Cleptomanx:

Spectrin seems to be a time-travelling company. One of their tips is that "time is fluid", their company began in 1724 apparently and they have cases spanning centuries in their case gallery (including some from early 1800s that are still "open"!)

I also suspect that Alex's new friend "Matteo" is a Doll. Sounds too coincidental that they met at a park and have suddenly become BFFs overnight.
