I'd thought they'd be releasing the precise location at the exact time the pod "landed", and just giving it to the first person there (or maybe the first person there who says a specific codeword given with the coordinates, just to prevent any confusion).

What they're actually doing, with people milling around at the location waiting for the pod to arrive, seems kind of odd. Maybe they'll have some kind of contest among the people there to determine who gets it?

To my knowledge it's still the first person to speak to the Pod Contact Person, though I have no idea who that is. I have been around since 8 a.m. and it will be a little frustrating if someone beats me to that guy, but I guess I'll just have to ride it out and see. I'll keep updating as it goes.

I hope there is some kind of challenge involved, because just having a mad rush would be lame and potentially dangerous if someone got knocked over.

Say "POD 2" to the contact person! Go go go do it now!

I lost. Great.

EDIT: Nothing stood out about the contact person at all. The pod was in a case, covered, and he walked over and uncovered it and a guy nearby just yelled out Pod 2 and that was all she wrote.

I'm sorry dude. Sad I do think it was a bit of a raw deal that it pretty much went to the person with the quickest "refresh" button on their iPhone.

You still got the code though right? Perhaps you can at least be the first person to share that with us. Smile

Yeah, I got the code and I'm pretty sure I was the first to post it as it thanked me and said the new data would be up in 24 hours. Still bummed though. Guy walks in 5 minutes beforehand, yells out Pod 2, and walks away with it. Them's the breaks I suppose.

EDIT: Code is SklXMg

EDIT 2: For anyone going after one of the other pods, don't bother showing up early, just come right before it's due to land and once the site updates just starting yelling, "POD #!" and it's yours.

Hmm, I just tried the code and it told me the same thing. Presumably it counts down 24 hours from the first time it's entered?

Also, it was odd that the sequence was case sensitive, because the KIX code isn't, and I'd assumed that was what the code on the pod would be written in this time too.

Yeah, it was case sensitive. Also, for anyone going after one of the other pods, there is NOTHING that stands out about the Pod Contact Person AT ALL. The PCP was the guy who unveiled the glass case the Pod was in. He was wearing khaki's and a LEGO shirt and had an accent (Think he might have been from Denmark, but that's just a guess). Just find the glass case at your pod location, stand by it, and yell the loudest. That's all that seems to matter.

Awwww, that's just wrong. Lego, if you're reading this, make the pod either available at store opening, or at a pre-announced time, or SOMETHING. This is just wrong!

Eh, crap happens, you know? I was just annoyed because my mom and I were there since 8 a.m. and the guy that got it walked in 10 minutes before the unveiling. I figured something like this might go down with it being the 1st drop and LEGO possibly not knowing how they were going to approach it so I understand, I was just disappointed a guy who didn't wait at all got it. Probably just me being selfish though.

Good luck to the rest of you, now that we know how these things are going to go down everyone else will hopefully be more successful.

I have to agree. I think they should come up with something different. At least with the Levi's game the awarding of the prizes was more fairly done and better organized. Maybe some kind of trivia challenge, or puzzle, or SOMETHING. (Even some kind of smaller prize to the first 10 to get there, a coupon, a card, a thank-you note or something...) It's not very motivating to know that someone who has put in alot of time, effort, and traveling, gets absolutely NOTHING. I'm really disappointed that you didn't get it. I think we were all pulling for ya!
Oh well, maybe they will read these forums and use our comments to improve the experience for everyone at the remaining locations.

That is a good point. Like how hard would it be to give a minfig or a brick to the first X people. Hell, Levi mailed out 100 pairs of jeans! (peerpressurepeerpressure)
