I cracked it:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Many consider my home to be dangerous; a murky and mysterious
realm where only the brave or foolhardy dare to venture.
To be sure, the forest island is swarming with treasure hunters
and those seeking fortunes at every turn, but my home is also a
place of tranquility - of beauty. Before turmoil descended upon
our lands I used to wander to a magnificent waterfall over
a ravine.
I would cross the old rope bridge and drop stones into the
seemingly endless chasm. Roaming back through the dense woods,
I would emerge onto a beautiful beach with perfect golden sand.
Sheltered from the wind by the high cliffs that ringed the small
cove I used to sit for hours, staring out across the waves.
This is the home I remember. These are the days I hold dear.
Days before the darkness. Before the lawlessness and infections.
Before the chaos.

DARN YOU! I just cracked it and was about to post it! I have about gotten to where I can read the text without having to reference the cypher. Maybe I can add LEGO to languages spoken on my resume... Razz

We will have the pod tomorrow and will fully document everything. Pictures of the box, which is supposed to be "awesome" in the words of the contact

Yeah, I would say so! Congrats again, that's one awesome setup!

The German version of the message, is the exact same image...
The German version of the new screenshot with code is not up, just a blank page.

Also something weird looking is that in the map of where the pods were found, the bottom of the dot is where it is pointing to. That makes it look weird.

Also, I found out that the reason the image in the code screenshot is easily visible from the start, is that they vertically shrunk the main image from 755px to 705px. An error? They intentionally put in a thing that moves it when you put your mouse over it though.

If you view source on the Gnarled Forest image, you can see they named one section "code_div". LOL So much for hiding it. Smile

I also noticed they made it draggable, so you can move the 4 coded letters about.

Well, this oughta be a fun ARG. I haven't been part of a good one since the Cloverfield ARG.

One more quick update. It turns out that this pod discovery doesn't have to be a kid. My son had run over, said "pod 2" and run back before I knew he had moved. I was still looking around confused with everyone else.

I asked "the contact" about it when we picked up the pod.

I believe they posted that as a comment on youtube as well.

To clarify, they did mention it was the first 'kid' for POD 2 when it was presented.

However, I believe that upcoming POD discoveries will go smoother. The comment on YouTube, in my opinion, refers more to future discoveries (POD 3 to POD 7), and isn't a reflection of the criteria used for POD 2.

"We believe this confusion relates to the discovery of the second pod, where several very clever people figured out the landing site before the pod arrived and were waiting for it. We can state categorically that ANYONE, adult or child can find a pod first and therefore get to keep it."

Rnilsson-
Congratulations to you and your son. It is nice to know that the pod found a good home with someone who can really appreciate it.
I'd also like to say thank you for coming on over to these forums and filling us all in on the details. That was very nice and thoughtful of you. And at least we can all have a little better understanding on how this will all work out in the future.
Hopefully, you and your son will enjoy the forums/games here and will decide to stick around for more fun on other future games.

First official participation for me, although I've lurked since the LOST Experience. Yeah for LEGO!

Yeah, I forsee this problem occurring again with the remaining five pods. As soon as the map narrows to an area that only contains one Lego Imagination Centre, everyone will have the location pegged. This takes a bit of the fun out of it, and also means that potentially more people will be competing for the pod, since they'll have more time to arrange to be there on the day.

Perhaps B.R.I.C.K. could mix things up a bit by putting the contact NEAR the Imagination Centre, and posting a photo of their immediate location as the final clue. Or have the pod land at a smaller Lego store and catch everyone off guard Wink.

Yup, we called it 3 weeks ago. Unfiction FTW!

Moving onwards...

Unless the current map co-ordinates are like last time, i.e. the square itself is entirely inaccurate and will move completely, where do we reckon the next pod will land? None of the Imagination Centers appear to be in the current block.

Oh no wait, it's just that the square as shown on the map isn't actually the square as given by the co-ordinates above the map. Putting the co-ordinates themselves into google maps reveals that Mall of America is barely in the area given.
Real top-right co-ordinate
Mall of America
(zoom out about 6 times on each to see them relative to each other)

Okay, as I was posting on different forums about different things, something struck me...
First you should know,
By going here: https://universe.lumini.lego.com/en-us/Account/Create.aspx
You can create an account to be a LEGO Universe beta tester. The account on this part of the site is strangely different from a regular LEGO account. You have to accept a secrecy thing, but you can't play because you have to have gotten an email with an activation key. It struck me that maybe, these letters we are getting (NSEW and LRTH) could add up to the activation key. The thing is, with the key, there are 5 places, that accept 5 characters each, and with each pod giving 4 characters, we would get 28, not 25 letters. But maybe the last ones will have less letters. LEGO has said that employees and families are currently testing, but public testing will come later.

Edit: Oh, but would the German one be different? Much less contain the special characters?
