They changed the map I was talking about. They removed the points, but they put the coordinates of them in the description. I think this is because they aren't supposed to be able to interpret them! Wink They also changed the name of it to Pod 2? #signalcrosschk jd^

Oh yeah, LEGO Universe wrote an article about it: http://us.universe.lego.com/en-US/NewsNetwork/Story.aspx?id=139108

Its getting closer to me. I'm in the Austin/San Antonio area, so that coordinate is still ~200 miles away. Maybe step 3 will put it closer?

About the hidden text on the About BRICK page - if you take the strings as ASCII characters written in hex (base 16), you get the following:
12J
6560686995972

Each line, in order translates to
12J\r\n
656068
6995972
Where \r is a carriage return, and \n is a line feed (the combination of the two represents a new line). As for what this means, I have no idea, but I am convinced that this must be a step in the correct direction - the probability that this would be something else and you would get that nice \r\n combination is about 1:65,536!

Also, looking at the webpage source code (thanks NotPron!) I see the following image commented out: http://www.bradfordrant.org/images/about_screens.jpg
Again, no idea if it even means anything, but hey.

That may be the "mainframe" mentioned in the intro vid.

I also noticed all the black outs are on words used in the same context to describe a place Rant used to work:

Quote:
In the 1970s, Rant worked as a special assistant to Italian physicist Giacomo 'Como' Berenices, before returning to the United States to take a position at 31324a0d0a

Quote:
Suspecting larger forces were responsible for his ostracism from the astrophysics community and sacked without warning from his position at 363536303638, Rant decided to set up his own organisation in order to further his research.

Quote:
colleague of Bradford Rant at 36393935393732, Gunther is a dedicated astrophysicist who holds a special interest in astronomical codification from historical and metaphysical perspectives.

Just a heads up guys. For those of you watching Mr. Crazy Professor: John Deutschendorf on facebook. One of his friends: Matthew Puccio works for Netdevil who is developing Lego Universe. It may be worth while to watch what he posts.

After thinking about this more, I'm convinced that this must be some sort of code/cipher, and 12 J is the key. The only problem I still have though is that no other numbers even appear CLOSE to the 1-26 range! Any pro ARGers got a clue?

You know that series of dots that were written on the first pod, shown in the video on the front page? I've been trying to decipher them, no luck so far. All I can say for certain is that it ISN'T straightforward Morse code, or Morse ASCII. Hope that at least saves someone some wasted time...

Hey folks, just started reading this thread. While I'm not participating in this ARG (just finished 2012 and currently in 221B), thought I'd throw in a comment. There's a constellation in the northern sky called Coma Berenices - Berenice's Hair. Perhaps it's something you can use.

Well spotted! Not only that, but one of the other names from that section, Gunther (or Guenter) Wendt was the name of the Launch Pad Leader during the early days of the Apollo missions.

I suspect these aren't clues as such, just astronomical in-jokes in keeping with the theme of this whole game. Wink

EDIT: And John Deutschendorf is John Denver's real name!

About stuff in the page source, there was this one thing I found, it said something like NASA has disagreed with us or something. Going back, it isn't there any more!

Anyways, my main find. I decided to look a the German part of the site. I don't speak German, but I have online translators. Wink I found that the image to ciper is different there. The alphabet has 4 extra letters. Searching for German alphabet I found it does have 4 extras. Trying different arrangements, I found this to be the best.

As you can see the translations turned out to the the same, with the exception of Heart. Also, the N S E W have changed to A I T M. Those are not the initials of the German directions, which are NSOW. Also, they don't spell anything in German except miat which is formate.

@bugefun: You did an interesting job to compare the English and the German version. As I'm German, please let me comment (and correct).

The light letter on the lower end is the special German character 'ä'. It is a special kind of an 'a'. The German word is then 'Gärten', which is the plural of 'Garten'.

But this makes it even more strange, as the light characters are now I, Ä, M and T.

I don't have a good idea about a meaning for this. I just see some *very* bad spelled words "TIÄM" instead of "TEAM" or "ITÄM" instead of "ITEM".

I guess I wasn't paying enough attention.
