I think I wanna call bs with this too.
Some avid fans here that tried to make an ARG. Unless J.J. wanted it to look very rookie-like...

Agreed.

1-18-08 started with 1-18-08.com and Slusho.jp.

Fuck it, I'm calling it.

Thad's been a busy boy!

I've been lurking quietly, and following the forums and blog once I heard of this 500Rads Project.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I'm in New York all this week on vacation and won't be posting anything until I get back.

Except this.

Which is late and unhelpful and you all just assumed I was dead, didn't you?

You bastards.

RE: Pop Culture Round Up

Thad posted a comment (apparently, the same comment he's been posting on Blogs all around the planet).
But, at the end, he posts: "BTW - ALIEN was released in 1979"

I did a little more digging, and came across this on Clinton's site:
http://zombiefightsshark.blogspot.com/2008/01/cloverfield.html
Near the end, Clinton writes: "I imagine this is a lot like what people in 1989 felt like when they first saw H. R. Giger's creature in Alien."

Personally, I think (as the Blog has been around for so long) either the Bad Robot team is trying something completely different or, if it is fan-made, this "fan" has gone out of his/her way to do lots of research, drop a "hint" over at Pajiba, and obtain copyrights.

I almost feel like one of J.J. Abrams' henchman is going to bust into my house, throw a bag over my head, and I'm going to wake up three days later in a cell with Benjamin Linus staring me down (I'll never reveal our source!)

I'm still wondering about all the "Red" (i.e. Herring and Bamboo).

Probably nothing

Hi all. I'm not really around, but I did recieve a comment on our old blog http://tagruato.blogspot.com/ that I'm holding for moderation. Probably spam, but just in case it's not:

Quote:
Thad Foster has left a new comment on your post "Totally Off Topic But...":

I need your help!

My mother and I are in very serious danger.

They're now following us; I had to toss in a Red herring to throw them off track.

I have cracked the password for Hal's guest user ...
It is: grzegorz

See what you can come up with, and let me know.

DO NOT post this information to Hal's blog.

Someone named bubbathom posted to Hal's IMBD board

The Common Demominator?

Grzegorz Jonkajtys worked on HellBoy, The Mist, and StarTrek-2009 (among others).

Harold McConnell (our "Hal?") worked on Jacob's Ladder, A Beautiful Mind, and was last seen in NYC shooting the VFX for Cloverfield.

They do have a (slim) J.J. connection.

Also, I noticed (before Thad translated his mother's text), one of the tags was "Desterrar el Trabajo."
Whereas the translation became "Banish Work."
Seems like an anagram for "Rob Hawkins?"

It was pointed out in a post above that viral sites don't usually change, or reference the actual film it's supposed to campaign.
However, some of the comment posters at Missing Teddy have Cloverfield listed under films watched/favored.

"Alyse Hanssen" was the username used to crack the USGX site!
(referenced: http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/search/label/USGX)
She even asked for help for cracking the code!
I thought that was sloppy marketing!

Then, everything came to an abrupt end.

Anyone could post on missingteddyhanssen.blogspot.com provided the comment was accepted. With that said many people posted direct questions about Cloverfield and their comment wasnt allowed. The people that you see with Cloverfield as a movie watched on their profile are people probably from unfiction or other sites that asked questions on the lines of: "Who's responsible for this MONSTER of a problem?" and comments posted by people who were playing along with the ARG.

I think it was great marketing, it allowed us to interact with Alyse and it put us in her world and Clovie lives in that world. Remember the person behind the screen name Alyse Hanssen works for JJ or who ever runs the ARG and they knew the password from the start. When she asked for help that was a hint that we had the tools to find it ourselves.

If you recall everything came to an end when the blogspot was hacked, by "Blunt smokin' T.E. double D Hanssen" or something like that. After the site went back to normal they never updated it again.

Well, I'm gonna have to say, the photo of the SoL "memorial" in the new blog post is a poor Photoshop job. Like, REALLY poor. It looks good enough as the smaller version, but the huge, clicked version is seriously painful to look at.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go mope in the corner as all hopes that this blog might be real go out the window...
