Near the end of the 6 month break, I was working overnights as a security guard. My cameras were messed up, so I told my friend I was talking with on facebook I had to go check it out. She warned me to watch out for slenderman because he may be causing it. I didn't realize how horrifying this was until I came back, asked her who slenderman was, and got a link to marble hornets. I hated security duty ever since..

I found out about Marble Hornets through this video:

YouTube: Link

It took a while for me to take MH seriously.

Just this past December...

The school where I work went on winter break, so I had some time at home and was catching up on YouTube videos -- I'm a fan of Jonathan Coulton and was looking for interpretations of Creepy Doll, The Future Soon, and Re: Your Brains. YouTube made some assumptions about my tastes based on these choices, and suggested a link that was titled 'If you don't know what the Slenderman is, don't click this!' or something along that line.

Because I can be very picky about my horror (don't care for gore, prefer suspense), and had no idea what Slenderman was, I Googled rather than clicking the link. This led me to TV Tropes, then to Victor Surge's brilliant, insanely creepy photos on SA, and of course, to MH.

It was late when I viewed the MH Introduction, probably 2 a.m.: I was on break and had no obligations the next day; I'm naturally an insomniac, and I had no idea how addictive this thing would be. I thought, "Ah, I'll watch a couple entries to see if it's any good, then head for bed, see if I can't sleep a bit."

Famous last words.

The Introduction was interesting, but nothing that intriguing. Then I clicked on Entry 1.

Cut to: 16 hours later -- Grumple, Coffee eyes bloodshot but unable to look away from the screen, watching and rewatching the entries until finally forced to give in to fatigue.

My sleep was disturbed, to say the least. Consuming that much nightmare fuel, it's no wonder. I woke feeling delirious and unsteady. I headed right back to the computer. Lather, rinse, repeat, for the rest of my time off. My poor Beloved had to listen to me babbling incessantly (and incoherently) about Alex, J, and Tim.

When I had entirely exhausted the entries (or rather, they exhausted me), I moved on to the BroTrinity Twitter and Tumblr accounts. Then Beloved had to listen to babble about Joseph, Troy, and Tim.

TV Tropes pointed me here, too. Cool

I forget how I found out about Slenderman, I think a friend showed it to me. But I looked at it and thought "this is stupid" and left it alone. Randomly, I searched for it again and found it on knowyourmeme.com (i think that's the site) and saw some cool pictures and my opinion changed to "ok this is kinda cool".

Then saw Marble Hornets and started watching it, in all honesty, I thought it was the dumbest thing I saw, but I couldn't stop watching! Now I'm hooked.

I found Slender man when Slender came out (I think) something started increasing the popularity of Slender man I think. Then I searched what it was, found a wiki page with a collection of stories and pictures, then read the ENTIRE Something Awful topic at once (I was working an overnight shift as a building guard on a creepy back alley...) I ran home and didn't sleep properly for a week...(I was also alone because my wife was out of town. I was so afraid of SM that I wouldn't enter my dark bedroom and instead slept on the couch.

Then the next day I found MH easily by searching slender man. I watched all of season 1 and part of season 2 all at once and read every theory on the wiki page. After that I came here and lurked for a while until someone's misguided theory made me make an account.

I've spoken about slender man so much that my wife (who has never seen anything slender related) is terrified of him.

I had seen him around on various occasions but never really got the idea of what he actually was. After a while they added the "Endermen" monsters to Minecraft and it was said they were based on the Slenderman. I decided to look it up and found the original thread on somethingawful and just started browsing through the thread. at first I didn't even really get hooked to the entries, but following the reactions and discussion in the thread was intresting so I kept watching them and eventually I got snared and ended up here Smile

Was doing an unrelated search, got a case of happy fingers, and mis-clicked on the link that took me to SA/Paranormal Images. Saw Victor Surge's work and kept reading the thread.
