Forgot to post the update to this from emails I got Dec 4:

Did you mean I AM JW?

This was referring to my previous post's attempt at decoding the message.

No, i didn't. Here's some more clues for you:

If 12 looks in a mirror.... Then 12 sees 21...12|21

And three are ye, of you there's three, and that will help you figure
out the riddle from me....

Don't look to deep, it's not very complicated....It's all simple
math-spoken word transistion. This'll be the only time I'll
over-simplicate everything for you, I'm not doing this for my health.

Now I am even more confused Wink

Quote:

Two times you, times all ye again, forms the letter that comes before 10

"I" as stated before or

2*3*3 = 12 = L. I do not understand why this should be the letter before 10 ??

Quote:

Mirror a 10 and take out nothing

"A" as stated before or

with the new hints it could also be 1001 --> take out nothing --> 11 = K

Quote:

Twice as many dwarves coulda saved humpty dumpty, while one more woulda been far two many

"M" as stated before

Quote:

and before many plus you is the next thing you needs

before many = 12; plus 3 = 15 = O

last part = "S"

I am not even sure if the dwarves part is a own letter or just a part of the "next thing you need". In the latter case the solution could be "LAOS".

??

Double post, but I just recieved this:
Quote:

It seems my last puzzle is proving a bit too difficult for you...I could just give you the answer but that would be far to easy, now wouldn't it? Well, here's an easier puzzle...

Half of the year has gone by, How many months more must I endure? 3 times as many is what your looking for.
Subtract from that twice as many seasons, and the next letter appears.
For what you need next look yourself in the face, and ask yourself what comes above taste?????

[META] From where does he know that I have difficulties with this puzzle Wink [/META]

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

months: 6
3 times: 18 --> R
minus twice as many seasons: -8 = 10 --> J
--> RJ

what comes above taste? --> smell, maybe

other ideas

EDIT:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Now I understand the first part of the first puzzle Bang Head

Simple maths is not my thing:
2*3*3 is 18 not 12 (why has no one told me!) --> R
is the letter before 10 --> J
--> RJ

Nice work AUZ. Wondering if he might mean "nose" (a homophone) making the riddle RJ Knows? Dunno

Got it thanks to that last email!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Two times you, times all ye again
2*3*3=18=R
forms the letter that comes before 10.
10=J
Mirror a 10 and take out nothing
10|01=11=K
Twice as many dwarves coulda saved humpty dumpty,
7*2=14=N
while one more woulda been far two many,
14+1=15=O
and before many plus you is the next thing you needs,
15+3=18=W
and the last is simple, it's only 19.
19=S

RJ KNOWS

He was right, we were over complicating it. It also didn't help to know where the clues stopped and started with the punctuation.

Unfortunately, RJ has not answered my email, yet. I send one the day we discovered the RJLabs page.

Anyone has an idea who Adam is?

Just thought I'd ping those following this thread that there may have been some movement on it via A Beginning and an End. Enjoy! Very Happy

kevrock,

Went ahead and filled him in on the details of 1984.

John,

My friend Kevrock emailed you a few moments ago, referring to a book, 1984, and it's protagonist, O'Brien. If this is accurate, and pertains to your circumstances, things may have just taken a darker turn. While Kevrock is tracking down a copy of the book (he thinks it might be the source document for the cipher), i'll fill you in a bit.

George Orwell's 1984 was written in 1948 and described a future dystopia where the government used aggressive advances in technology to subdue and control the masses. Have you ever heard the quote "Big Brother is Watching You"? That came from 1984. The main character, O'Brien, tries over the course of the novel, to dissent and rebel, but is ultimately destroyed for it. There's a wikipedia entry for the plot if you want something to do while you're waiting for us to figure this out, but i warn you, the story does not end well for O'Brien.

We'll get back to you when we have some more concrete evidence.

Luck,
Morelaak

gonna see what he has to say about that.

EDIT: response

Quote:
Wow.... That doesn't sound very promising. I know this may not be the time for jokes, but I'm a generally light-hearted person, so I will make one....Maybe it safer for me in this room then out there! hahaha....Ok maybe it wasn't so funny. I find the connection to the book very interesting and it makes me quite paranoid, but in my opinion, i don't think the book itself has anything to do with the code. I've gotten as far as this... Using an Allendorf cipher ussually refers to page, line, word, but maybe in this case considering the only text I have is the letter it refers to line, word, letter??? Just a thought on my part....and in that case, we are looking for four, 3 number keys. Maybe the first clue was meant to help me find them?

yeah, i thought this might be his response... the Allendorf works best with books and long letters and the such. In this digital age, we don't come across long things anymore. Looks like he wants us to hurry along.

he's also pointing us back to the first clue... so lets work on that.

The letter says he has the code. To find the code, we need to use the clues we were given. considering that its hidden in the computer, we need to do something with these

Everything Has A Value: most likely referring to some form of numeric system, since everything in a numeric system has a value (even zero)
Every Value Has A Place: could be referring to place value? again a basic quality of numeric systems.
Everything Starts At The Beginning: binary maybe? i'm not sure.

Just off the top of my head that's what i come up with.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number

I'm gonna start scanning this, see if i can connect any dots.

Actually, I recently read 1984, and O'Brien is the primary antagonist, not the protagonist. The protagonist's name is Winston Smith.

It also appears to involve a character named John Warnor.

But in any case, I said there *may* have been some movement. Just trying to make sure people were aware, in case it does turn into something.
