It's just flat missing the last phoneme. Fay-pick 'em
Regardless of whether they make sense or not, the possibles (one syllable words).

Fey, fade, fake, fail, fame, fane, fair, phase, fate, fave. Note that fail, fair (including weird pronunciation of fear) include diphthongs (Fay-ul). Some of those can be eliminated for nonsense (the word has to be a vowel), leaving: fade, fake, fail, fair/fear, phase. Least likely is fear because Donna doesn't talk like that.

@Telos>> Isn't it funny how unfiction doesn't exist for characters in ARGs? Yes, we know PMs read the board, but characters have a blind spot. (At least according to TOS and good design).

Wasn't thinking about that bit .-. Ignore that part I mentioned.

Still think it's fear. With the current information we have at the moment, it seems to fit.

TEC is coming. Save Sophie. Tell Sophie not to fear.

The latter bit could be taken like tell her not to fear, because she's going to be saved.

I can see where you're both coming from, lol. Listening to it on a loop, it sounds like "Fay....", as pancito said. "Fear" and "fail" would both make sense. "Fear" because TEC is coming. "Fail" because perhaps Sophie has to stop them. I haven't noticed Donna having any sort of dialect/"twang" issues when she speaks. I'm from WV and I've heard "fay-ul" around here and further south before. Not something I'd expect from someone from Ithaca, NY...

I agree fear makes the most sense, just doesn't sound like it to me. Dunno

@dawndilion>> The diphthong is there, it's just more pronounced in Southernese.

I'm kinda partial to 'phase,' just because that would be cool... as a sort of synonym for shifting between time lines, world states, whatevahs.

That'd make sense with the whole time travel deal. But, Iunno.

Wish things were a little clearer. Like.. if we had any damn clue what the other audio is saying. It may be a clue to this. I'm going to have another crack at it, I guess.

Has anyone gotten any further on the first mp3? I've been adjusting and adjusting and trying to figure out what comes after "Ryan" or "Brian" or whatever it says and I've gotten nowhere.

Yeah, PM is a bit too cute... Oh wait, interference from the future. Yeah, that's it. Rolling Eyes

I might try 'Ryan' again a bit later, but need to work for a while. Still think the best move is to ask her if she knows a Ryan and admit we can't really make it out. Give the guesses.

Yeah. I've started drafting up an email to her now.
Still think something's going to happen with Sophie tonight on her 'return home' trip. So, we may not get much from Donna tonight, unless it's shock and fear and such.

Edit ::
Still nothing on the first audio.

Whew! A lot can happen during a full day of school.

With that being said:

1) It does sound like fear. It makes sense in the context AND it's the most likely sound.

2) If it is fear, what would she be fearing? Some sort of time anomaly-ish thing that happens?

Expect we should be hearing from her soon, though. By her - I mean present Donna, not 'future Donna'.

Still think something big is going to go down tonight.

I think "soon", too. At least, I hope so.

Well, if she doesn't, I could be the Ryan she's referencing. Which kinda freaks me out, seen as I haven't been given anything that I need to do...Razz

Well, I'm gonna agree with "fear," only because whether or not the diphthong is there or not, I'm still hearing a long E sound. The beginning of "fail" would have a long or short A sound (depending on the diction, I'd say short just because she's in New York).

EDIT: How weird would it be if present Donna eventually became future Donna, like, while we're still playing? And she's like, "We have to save Sophie, I'm gonna send your past selves an email?" Trippy.

It's now 8:40pm in New York and well past the afternoon, which is when she was planning on being back with Sophie.

I also never received a response from her regarding the link to Syracuse and her twitter is quiet. Looks like something may have happened.
