I joined Echo Bazaar yesterday--my twitter account, since I didn't have the sense to create an account specifically for the game, is @HaunterMooneyes--and, after focusing pretty much exclusively upon building my Shadowy and Persuasive qualities, I am a ruthless, charming, sly, magnanimous hedonist with friends in the criminal sector and the Great Game. I aim to steal the greatest treasures of the Neath, seduce an artist's model, and write poetry about mushrooms. Lovely, lovely mushrooms.

And then there's the nightmares, of course. They're nasty. I'd like to talk about them, but well, I'm afraid they'd rub off on you.

With the bronze-bordered cards like the Maiden Aunt, does anyone know whether they'll return later if you discard them? I want to do this storylet but even at Persuasive 28, it's listed as almost impossible.

I'm vaguely worried about discarding it because I don't know if you get more than one shot at these. Thanks to anyone who has an idea...

I arrived in Fallen London a while ago and I love it to a degree that is possibly unhealthy. I mean, not WoW levels of addiction or anything, I just really, really love the whole world they've created. Lovecraftian creepiness + steampunky atmosphere + all kinds of other cool stuff = way awesome. (I play with my main twitter account, 100_indecisions.)

And because this is the sort of fan I am when I get into something, and because I'm kind of obsessive, I'm sort of working on an Echo Bazaar fanmix--stuff that feels right atmospherically, for the most part, or the lyrics sound very close to the sorts of things that happen in the game. And, uh, instead of making an iTunes playlist, so far I've just made an Echo Bazaar tag on last.fm, which...quickly became one of my, like, top 5 used tags. As in, I may have used it 50+ times. And that's without me even really working on the mix--mostly I just tagged artists I thought should go in there somewhere, but I wasn't sure which of their songs.

So actually there are a couple points to my post. What do you think of the music that feels like Echo Bazaar to me? Any other suggestions? Anything you like listening to while you play the game to get more into the world of it?

Maybe more importantly: an aspiring-musician friend of mine (prufrocke on Twitter/Echo Bazaar) has just released her very first actual album, which includes the rather creepy and fantastic "Nightmarket"--and in case it's not obvious enough from the title and lyrics, this particular song was heavily inspired by Echo Bazaar. And seriously, I'm not just being biased because I'm her friend when I say that this song is awesome. (So are the other ones on the album; "My Head Is Full of Hymns," "Orchard," and "Priya Song" are my other favorites, for what it's worth.) Since it's up on Bandcamp, you can stream it free and see what you think, and...maybe buy it if you like it? I mean, most of you probably supported a Struggling Artist in one way or another already, and this struggling artist is actually, you know, real and trying to go to college.

It sounds so stupid but how can u got Scrawled Notes on the Walls in Heart's Desire ambition? Is this thru social activities or opportunity card I don't know of? My ambition stopped here since I can't progress anywhere

The hosting company that Failbetter Games uses reset the database without their permission and overwrote a few backups. As a result, everyone was shoved back to May 29. That's probably what happened to you, Tannya.
