I would laugh if he just fell over and that's why you can't see him.

Really, though, I don't know if he could move that fast by himself. He could have been grabbed by someone else and pulled away. Or maybe it's two clips meshed together. It could also be the error of a college film student, but I prefer to think that it was more deliberate than that. The teleportation thing is becoming a more solid theory now, and would provide an easier answer as to how Masky got into Jay's house in the first place (unless locked doors meant nothing to him before boarding up his entire house), but I'm not sure that's what happened at the end of Return.

Finally, something I think we may have missed. (We may not have, if so, whatever.) While the video is distorted throughout, and the audio is gone, there is actually only one instance of what we've come to known as "visual tearing"; more accurately, and it accompanies a huge camera cut in the middle of the video. During it, Slenderman moves closer to the camera. Not only that. J disappears. Look at this, guys.

This is a good find by a good eye. It's possible that he just fell over, but still... why would he have? Could the distortion have been caused by some sort of teleportation?

Still, I'm not convinced that Slender Man was intent on the cameraman. He turns towards that very same closet J found himself in in Entry 24.

It seems to me that for the amount of time (5 minutes a pop?) that these guys have to express themselves and their talents, they wouldn't let ANYTHING be not intentional. They know a lot of people are watching, I kind of doubt that they would half ass it.

You know, I think you may be right -- scrubbing through I can't find any real evidence that Jay is there... though I'm finding it hard to be sure that he's definitely not. (On a side note, finding the final screen of 'forever' gave me a start, I'd forgotten that Return ended that way. D: )

One thing that seems odd is how Jay wanders back into his room in #24, but in Return he's sitting on the floor and then poof, vanishes. o_O A non-portal teleportation?

Well, I'm forced to acknowledge the teleportation theory as actual fact, but undoubtedly if it's canon, then it's Slendy's doing. Still, that doesn't explain why he's just gone for no reason. As for his interest in the camera, maybe he knows that his target (whoever they may be) is/will be watching. If Slendy can teleport people and objects, this strengthens the fact that Slendy does have some control over Masky and that he deliberately sent him into Jay's house, the only fault with this theory is one question though, "Why?"

I was just looking through the tv tropes page for Marble Hornets, and it says that in one of the entries someone sipping a bottle of water causes "an entire tape" to be destroyed. Can anyone point me to which entry this is in, as I think I missed it?

I'm pretty sure it's referring to the end of entry 17, when Tim takes a sip of water and the tape freezes a few seconds later.

o_O I hadn't connected the two in the past!

Dude, do you guys think that's the reason, or is it just that Slendy's all "lol, no more filming for you!"?

Since water recurs a lot in the series, I think it would be reasonable to associate the water with the distortion. Earlier in the entry, Tim drinks soda and nothing happens. Then again, it takes several seconds after drinking the water for the distortion to actually start.

I'm not sure I'd associate water with the distortion since the distortion occurs a lot when water isn't present (when Masky first appears in Jay's bedroom for example), as well there's water present in the pavillion thing (a stream next to it which Jay shows when they go location scouting) but there's no distortion in entry #9 which takes place exclusively in the pavillion. I think it's a safer bet that there's so much distortion that the two themes are bound to coincide at some point - and I do think water's a theme.

Ohohoho.

I don't blamme water as distortion but THAT bottle of water.

I believe that bottle of water is the one found in the legendary closet.

Yes, the closet, that slendy walks too, and the closet that Jay appears at then appears in basement.

Perhaps it a portal of sorts?

*waves* I'm totally noobalicious here, so please forgive me if I'm raising something that's already been discussed. (I tried reading through all the post, but I'm busy with school and suchlike XD)

Does anyone have any ideas why, in Entries 1 and 11, Alex turns his lights
off when he feels threatened by Slender Man? I mean, if I thought I was being threatened by a supernatural ghost critter, I'd probably turn on ALL the lights in my house, grab a crucifix, pee myself and hide in a corner (not necessarily in that order).

At the time alex didn't know it was slendy, he believed that SOMEONE was following, and stalking him, he just turned off the lights so he coudn't be seen while he could see his stalker.

Didn't quite work, but, yeah.

Burrito: Dunno if the waterbottle is a portal. XD Unless Tim teleported and all their brains got scrambled when the film froze. Then showed up hours later while Jay and Seth and Alex were hanging out and acting mildly off their heads?

Either way, it could be that Tim just happened to get body-snatched in that thread and water helped somehow? Who knows, it seems more like larger things like doors are warp-sources, though I do agree that water has to play some part. Surprised

M3thod: I keep thinking that Alex is wanting to try to fool Slendy into thinking that he's not home, perhaps? But yeah, that is a weird way to react!
