Burrito, why not read through the thread for #16 to see if things have been mentioned? It's not like it's going anywhere! Wink

Been thore, done that.

Apparently they spotted a frame of TTA, and everyone went and thought that was it for the entry.

Now I am sure of the hello, listened to it enough times, it's a hello.

Any importance this may have with what we thought was a distortioned hello in entry 23?

I'll stop here before I speculate like a madman.

What's the time on that hello?

Also, I dunno... seeing Jay doing his dishes would be pretty lame. XD Even I might not want to watch that, and I figure I'm pretty fantarded for this series. Getting a twitter of "nothing happening. Tidying up the house before I leave" would be nice though. ;P

You can only listen to it with left audiphone though, the right one doesn't have the hello.

Wow now that I notice it this way it's even weirder, why would it be on only one track? o.o

Something cold, something sleepy, something of cease and peace and the long bright curve of space. Banish them. Refuse to speak. Go upstairs to your room. I will be waiting for you. I will tell you a story better than the Snow Ghost. I will surround your bed, pile a deep drift against the door, so that none will ever again be able to enter.'"

How the fuck has no one said much about this before? This reveals ALOT about the storyline, and the fate of Jay. Something "waiting", something that will "surround" you? This obviously referencing to Slenderman. The commanding voice in this is a demonstration of Slenderman's power, it's saying "Jay, when you are alone, I will get you. I am everywhere, and no one can help you once you are in my grasp."

Curiously, after Jay had his encounter with Slenderman in #23, he holes himself up, as if to shut out the world, just like in the above quote. And now, even after being issued a warning from TTA, he ignores it, and stays shut in his room. After his account is hacked, the most he does is think about possibly leaving. In my opinion, this is Jay refusing to speak. Jay is fucked. Straight up fucked. He is in the grasp of Slenderman, and trapped.

For me, this almost verifies that TTA is a friend. He warned Jay by giving him this video, but Jay did not listen. When Jay shut himself in his house, he tried to scare Jay out with Warning, and still, Jay ignored him. TTA was worried that Jay might be gone to Slenderman, and did something drastic to try to wake Jay up and make him use what free will he has left: Hacked his account, and posted Entry #####. The point of the video was almost to make Jay realize his own house was not a safe place. At this point, I just hope Jay snaps out of it and listens. This almost seems like endgame folks, if Jay can't escape Slendy's grasp.

Because I don't think it was the actual dialogue we were supposed to be paying attention to but the story.
Paul becomes increasingly withdrawn and callous in everyday interaction, spending every second he could alone, fascinated with magical snow only he could see.
At the very end he decides everyone else is impeding his time with the snow, so he chases them away, locks himself in his room, and it finally snows inside.

That is what I was talking about, I was just using that quote as an example of the story.

Are you sure that's a "hello"? It sounds like something squeaking or creaking, like maybe J's shoes or the handle of his video camera.

As far as the repeated tapping noise, I'm not sure that I'll be getting any sort of meaningful message out of it. The only three groupings I've been able to find are three taps, two taps, and one tap-space-two taps. In Morse code these are S, I and D respectively. There's too much background noise in the videos to pin down all of them.

The thing is, though, is that the ones I can hear all happen rhythmically. In Entry 16 they happen every 8 seconds; in Entry 23, 7 seconds. In Entry 21 it seems to waver a little inbetween 8 and 10 seconds.

I half-feel like I'm chasing a false lead here. But the sound is far too regular and omnipresent to be simply some sort of rattle from J's camera (and it's not likely to be some moving part, either; the camera is digital). Plus I haven't been able to find any of the sounds in Entry 15, which probably was filmed with the same camera as the aforementioned Entries.

I'm kinda runnin' dry here. Any ideas?

 Clues minus context

The Rogue Wolf said:
Quote:
One of the pitfalls of the whole "There must be more clues!" mentality is that clues - context = random information. Practically every frame of every last Entry and TTA video has been pored over, dissected and correlated with a speed that would make a supercomputer envious. It is very difficult now to find any new information (unless, of course, the creators expect us to suss out things like what wattage those flickering flourescent lights run at), so we're left retreading old ground hoping to find new, as-yet-undiscovered connections. Until we're fed more breadcrumbs, it's the best we've got.

*swallows painfully and gives a humble nod of respect*
Yes, I know. Point taken. But the frustration!
But nevertheless, I'll keep stewing over it. . .

I'VE SOLVED IT ALL
SLENDERMAN IS THE TALL MAN

I can just picture the reveal, the Tall Man standing above Jay's bed, and the last thing we hear is "BOOOOOOY"

(this is in reference to Phantasm, if you haven't seen this movie you just should. like, now.)

Excuse me, I was just wondering...

You see, I had just been reading back a few pages and saw some discussion about perhaps the symbols were some kind of portal or some-such. Now, that did get me to thinking. The number of pages to look through is quite staggering and monstrous however, so let me just come out and ask. Has their been any discussion regarding the symbol's resemblance to some sort of stage direction? Like where an actor is supposed to end up? A mark, you could say.

It does have implications toward the puppet master theory floating around, and possibly secondary implications toward the theory that the production is somehow related, so I just thought I would ask.

Cheers.

Haha, one of my friends had to introduce me to the Tall Man. I watched Phantasm after she did.

I particularily like this one: http://ghostlyinsomniac.deviantart.com/art/Tall-Man-Meets-Slender-Man-146337648

XD "Sudden Infant Death"? Or maybe it's just a dis from the creators~

Seriously, though, I don't know... Jay does mention that he hears some odd noises in #16. Maybe instead of 'Hello' he was talking about those tapping noises? Is there anything that uses two or three different combos of letters/sounds/symbols to create a code? (My first thought is binary; they only seem to use that very sparingly however.)

It could just be an audio version of a spidey sense, if you know what I mean? A way to show that uneasiness and hackle-raising and general grossness that it seems the characters get whenever Slendy's about? It could just be mood-noise. :\ Let's not give up yet!

Don't get too discouraged! Smile You've come up with some awesome insights. Maybe trying to communicate with the characters would lend some sort of context for the clues? You're intelligent and can probably come up with something catchy to snag TTA's attention. Might be worth a shot!

Ba ha ha haha. Alex's head wound came from a close call with that stupid flying metal ball?

We'd talked about it being a 'jump to coda' mark in the past. But yeah, stage direction, direction of some kind... it seems like (X) is a mixture of 'go to' and 'marked for death' to me.

'marked for death' is actually probably wrong. I shouldn't have mentioned that. XD Marked for... something. For Slender Man? We see scrawlings of Slender Man at Alex's place with the (X) over his face. then we see (X) in Warning, where O-shapes get progressively more crossed out. Finally we see (X) as an introduction in the most recent Marble Hornets video. Maybe it's that the (X) symbol denotes 'go to places' and 'go to people'? Apologies for the wheel spinning. I think that if you want to see some more thoughts on it, the 'Warning' video thread has some chatter regarding it.

You sir, are and genius, have a cookie!!

I never realized it, but I think I've seen that in my stage manager's notebook a while ago, before MH even came out.

I'll ask her about it.

Are you people hearing the hello with earphones and using the left earphone?

Maybe I'm suggesting myself at this point but I hear it SUPER clear, but I'll try to isolate it in a .wav or a video of it.

I really can't see how it could be confused with coofing or anythig... It sounds so computer generated.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=39QMK3DR

I removed the other track completely, meaning you won't hear anything unless you wear headphones and a left one.

I also increased the volume of it. Not at max, but I needed to make it cleare.

I could have removed the noise, but it was already minimal, and well I'll rather keep it acurrate to the original.

If you can't hear the hello on this call me a nutcase.

RE: The (X) symbol being a stage symbol of some sort, this is probably not incredibly helpful, but I just watched Inglourious Basterds and the symbol was flashed on a movie screen (a movie screen in the movie) a few times right before something took place.

Anyone who's seen it might know what I mean. It actually freaked me out a bit. I was all "OH GOD NOBODY TOLD ME SLENDERMAN WAS IN THIS MOVIE D:"

But yeah. Same exact symbol. I don't know if it's a commonly used movie cue or if it was being used literally as a "mark for death". Either would've been appropriate in that situation.

That's probably all that it is, in the end. "PAY THE FUCK ATTENTION TO THIS PLACE, PERSON OR THING."

Like someone mentioned earlier, it could be a visual equivalent to 'would you kindly?' for Jay. When he sees it, he feels compelled to follow the matching instructions?
