I'm pretty sure this tower is a climbing tower. I've done a fair bit of climbing and it has the signs of a climbing tower. For safety reasons, they remove all of the pegs when its's not being used (so people don't climb without the right gear, fall, and sue). That is why there are holes on the tower. The wires at the top are used for ropes so that while someone is climbing, someone else can belay for them so they do not fall.

I agree, obviously a climbing tower OOG.

However I find it impossible to believe that the creators would include the tower to the extent they have during the series, only to reveal it as the holding place of some videotape-macguffin (obviously an important one, but still a macguffin.) I just don't buy it, I feel there's been far too much talk, speculation, hinting and mystique surrounding that tower, just to drop it like this. Remember, we're still missing a "Red Tower part 2/2" entry, although I doubt we'll ever see one.

I remember the first time seeing it (location scouting-entry), that huge tower in the middle of the woods, instantly thinking "Holy Shit, that's where Slendy lives!"

Hehe, at first I thought the holes might actually be airholes (in game, that is), like making the tower a cage for Slender Man. That would make the wires (regarding electricity) kind of a neat way to transport him in/out of there. However, this would mean someone's controlling him, an idea I'm not to fond of myself. I've always thought of SM being in the top of the food chain.

I don't know about the tower being unresolved. I feel that Alex's chatter about it (albeit chopped off part way) gives some sort of explanation to its function. There may be a backstory involved with WHY the tower is left ambiguous, but I don't know that Marble Hornets will answer that. I don't know that it needs to be answered.

In regards to 'tower 2/2', I think that Jay was explaining, "part one: I go to the tower and find a tape. Part two: the tape itself."

There might be more, but I figure that if the tower makes another appearance, it will probably be incidental somehow. Seems like it's served its purpose in this story to me, even if it has its own unexplained bits.

The red tower is one of those things that I would like to ask the MH crew when all of this is finished; something like the Just Another Fool people did.

But that might never come, judging by MH's... sizeable fanbase. [s]Maybe we should run up a list of questions before the game finishes so we don't flood them with questions? XD[/s]

Echoes at Devil's Peak??
New close encounters

Say. . .is anybody else reminded of Close Encounters of the Third Kind when they watch Alex making all those sketches? You know the scenes where Richard Dreyfus is making a model of the Devil's Tower out of mashed potatoes and random lawn trash?

I am!

And by the way, doesn't the presence of the sketches (I'm thinking they're the same, though it's not certain!) seem indicative of Alex's residence at The House?
Just thinkin'...

Yeah, it seems like Alex moves into Brian's house somewhere along the way. As if, maybe, his house wasn't safe any longer, so he buggered off thinking that Slendy wouldn't find him?

Which leaves it likely that Slendy will eventually descend over Jay's house like a bad funk, if he hasn't arrived (signaled by that odd shift in the TV in #24) already.

If we presume that, then it looks like Slendy is going to trash J's house (as he did The House, unless that was Alex/Brian) before continuing to stalk him to the hotel that he's staying at.

If he's interested in doing that, of course.

Seems like after #23, Slendy's interested enough.

I keep thinking that the house was made so messy by Alex, and then maybe by Masky/TTA? Searching for something?

Heh, if the goal was to scare Jay out of his own house long enough to have free reign of it for a few weeks, TTA did an awesome job. XD Wonder if Jay will come back to find that everything has been pilfered?

J's survival after that is intriguing. Then again, Alex survived several close-encounters with Slendy and lived, so they're probably more use to him dead then alive.

This was my first thought, but I went with "Slendy did it" for my above post. Perhaps Alex had a run-in with TTA/Slendy and messed the house up trying to get away from them? Or he just snapped and decided to get out.

He deserves a medal for Entry ##### and it's effect on J. Maybe he wants to get his hands on the tapes with no possible interruption from J? Even if he managed to get him away for three hours before... hm~

Also; if that happens, you know someone's going to make one of those $20 things Razz

Alex was demonstrating tendencies with ripping paper up from #3. Seems like something that continued after the move, perhaps? The overturned couch, etc. I'm not sure about... but it seems like Alex had brought all of his notes with him to pin 'em up, which is interesting.

What he was tearing is also of interest. It was all newspapers, maybe he was searching through newspapers to try and find other people who reported something like slendy? Maybe Alex tried to make contact with various other slendy-victims.

/wild speculation

So far, #23 seems to be the first actual time that Slendy takes notice of J. In the Return video, he just walks right past him and looks into another room.

This is notable, given the fact that Slendy was clearly... interested in Alex (Video #6, where he peers into the windows, Video #13 (?) where he follows Alex to where he runs etc).

Perhaps Slendy only becomes interested in you when you pry too deeply into his business? Like the world's tallest Mafia boss.

I'm not sure if this is late or not but certain To The Ark videos have the tag Ark and some don't so I put all the title's first letters together from first to last. I got RIEPAASMRVAAW I'm not sure if this could be an anagram or not?
I'm also going to try add the descriptions together.

The fact that he has posted missing audio and video from the tapes makes me think he's had access to them for awhile now. And that frightens me .__.
