Re-watching the videos in a pre-upload orgy of terror (because I'm a masochist, and because living in the same house with another MH fan makes it slightly more bearable to watch the videos at night), and I had a thought.

Entry 13, where Jay goes back to Alex's car to get the videos is followed by Exit, in which we get a video of someone watching Jay rummage around Alex's car. Now, common consensus seems to be that it can't be Alex, for reasons of timing (or something; someone who's been around longer'n me, please let me know if I'm missing something here!). But in entry 13, there's a cut between when Alex and Jay part ways and then some shots of trees. Between the two, some sort of distortion seems to kick in -- the relatively subtle kind, where the blacks are really hard and the colors are flattened out some.

Exit has this same kind of color/blacks distortion throughout. That suggests to me that it IS Alex filming Jay. It could be that TTA got his paws on that footage to show Jay just how paranoid Alex had gotten by then -- that he'd doubled back and was filming Jay. Or it could imply that Jay legitimately WAS acting strangely at the time and Alex was concerned, or was testing to see if Jay did anything strange when left alone.

I'm going to evoke the oft-loathed Occam's Razor here. I mean, if it isn't Alex with the camera in Exit, we have two guys running around the same bit of woods with video cameras experiencing the same kind of distortion. That's just a setup for crazy woodsy shenanigans and chase scenes, really!

You may have a point there, Katkina! That never occurred to me, but it makes sense.

Edit: Plus it has some implications about what may have happened to Alex that TTA got access to that...

Speaking of entry 13, whatever happened to the old abandoned building (I think it kind of looks like a school house) that Alex found? Why didn't jay ever go back there? I mean, it's prime Slendy territory. If there was going to be a climax of the story, I'd put it there. I mean, it's the first good sighting of Slenderman we ever got, and I personally think it's the first place Alex encountered slenderman.*


Reasoning: Why would he go off alone like that if he thought he was being followed by tall tentacled creature hell bent of terrorizing the shit out of him... and possibly eating his kidneys? In truth he wasn't acting strangely at all during that scene. (Also why I dont' really buy into the idea that he was filming during Exit, but hey that's just me.)

I just don't see any evidence to support the other theories. If you can back it up, of course, that's a different story, but in general it just seems like that makes the most sense...to me at least.

I wonder sometimes if Masky isn't TTA! I'm thinking that they're the same person but I'd be just as happy if we discovered that they're not!
