No, I think taking just the information the fiction gives us is the best idea.

And again I say, if this were an ARG set in Gotham City that had not named the shadowy cloaked figure Batman, would it be a stupid idea or a smart idea to pretend we don't already know based on context that it's Batman? Should we chase down erroneous leads because the information we've been given doesn't include the existence of someone called Batman? Or should we expand our scope just a little, take into account the context in which the trailhead was found (in this case, in the Paranormal Images thread on SA, responding directly to the Slenderman mythbuilding that was going on there), and form our opinions therefrom?

I hate how it seems like a majority of the posters totally ignore what you have to say because they don't agree, but the fact and logic is solid.
The people who are like "IT'S NOT THE SAME SLENDY" are most likely the ones who think JFK dropped out a false bottom in the limo and is working as Elvis' manager - in space. Aka - the weird ones who don't take logic in to consideration.

Also, I think about 60% or more of the posters here didn't know anything about Slendy until Marble Hornets, and due to that, hardly know jack about his background.

To add to that, I think about 10-15% of the Guest/unregistered accounts are posting from multiple accounts to boost support in their theories, when they're just plain uninformed or way out in left field.

"ZOMG MASKY IS SETH AND TIM'S SPAWN OF GAY SEX AND SLENDY IS AN ALIEN COMING TO MAKE BABIES WITH JAY!", yeah, no one's stated that yet, but that's as crazy as some of the stuff some of these people are spouting out.

Any way, on the original reason I replied - I stand behind Rathead's logic on this. And, to use a better example than Batman.
Say there's a serial killer on the loose. He typically wears blue jeans, a white shirt, and a red bandanna. There's a man totally matching his description standing next to you at a bus stop in the middle of nowhere. He's wearing a blue bandanna though. Are you going to assume that JUST because the bandanna is a different color, that he's not the serial killer, or are you going to use basic logic and think "Oh shit this guy is that serial killer!"

Just because Slendy isn't doing -everything- he's said to yet, doesn't make him a different slendy.

Clearly, this is a clue. See, 1 is the first natural number. Where does Slenderman live? The woods, in nature.

It's obvious: Jay has been abducted by SM.

To join on and beat the dead horse further: Many of the things that Slenderman does in his original SA mythos are pretty damned hard for these guys to possibly imitate in Marble Hornets. Come on, how are they going to get his legs to extend wildly out of human proportions, or the tentacles out of his back? That would take extensive CGI, which I don't think these guys are going for or know how to do.
As Telos and Rathead said previously (and multiple times beforehand), everyone else needs to realize that this is the Slenderman. Get that implanted into their heads, then get back to waiting patiently and nicely for the next video/response/tweet/gamejack to happen.

Uh what have you been smoking?

Also for the Slendy not following SA Slendy shit, Victor Surge made his creation open for interpretation. He could be a dead Rabbi trying to spread the Jewish word if you want to make it so.

....Because, you know... he couldn't have gone to check messages an hour before you checked.

What ever you're smoking, please, dear god, send me some? I'd get rich off that shit.

Victor Surge left it open, the rest of the thread gave off a bunch of ideas...all we're saying is that there were many common themes among many of the stories in that thread (I read the whole thing...didn't sleep for a week) and that many of those common themes PROBABLY apply here, since MH was created in response to that thread. Victor Surge gave him a name and wrote the first story, but the internet is the true creator...and the internet tends to be memetic.

I think Jay needs to go back to the house, remember the words said in
signal "Go up to your room." From what I remember Jay didn't go upstairs,
to the bedroom or maybe I need to rewatch #16 but in my opinion
the house is going to be our best lead again.

Dude, can I have some of whatever you're on? kthx

I also think our next lead is the house. still don't know where else to go, unless we check around the other locations Jay and Alex went location scouting?

I think he was being sarcastic. XD

Also, I try to have an "Occams Razor" approach to this ARG. Basically, the simplest stuff is what's true. Alex got haunted by Slendy shortly after starting Marble Hornets, 22 was the last entry before he handed the tapes over etc

No childhood stalking ((even though that would fit)) and no Alex moving to the town he lives in when he was 8. Hell, when did Jay say anything about that?
