For everyone who wants good, free audio-editing software, check out Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

They must have realized they missed 0xx08, because a new file was added.

well, as far as i can tell with this one, it takes place during january 6th, 2028 and mentions something about employee files.

0xx08 - january 6th, 2028
0xx09 - january 10th, 2028
0xx04 - february 10th, 2028
0xx03 - february 15th, 2028
0xx06 - february 15th, 2028
0xx07 - february 24th, 2028
0xx02 - february 25th, 2028
0xx05 - february 25th, 2028
0xx01 - march 1st, 2028

i've been using goldwave and that has pretty much the same features. unfortunately it's just that my sound editing skills aren't that great, and the only significant things i really know how to do is to reverse, slow down, and speed up audio files.

Yeah, January 6th 2028 is definitely the date on this 0xx08 file, the bit at the end is slowed down (in tempo, not speed, increase the tempo in Audacity by approx 200% to hear) and reversed says january, the bit reversed before that says 6th, and the reversed bit at the start says 2028.

For some reason its backwards this time, in the sense that the voice says "2028, 6th, January", which lead me to believe that the entire file was reversed.

Not the case, though, the audio other than the date doesn't make sense to me backwards or forwards, except that forwards I can make out the words "read the employee files" somewhere near the middle.

I get the feeling we need someone with far better audio skills to make some sense outta this. We are definitely hearing a conversation between two or more people, but the conversation is not only cut into pieces and separated into these files, but each audio is significantly edited.

Edit: Ugh, think I'm tired, just posted this in the wrong trailhead topic. *facepalm*

I wish there was more of a clue as to how to edit the audio files. The higher into numbered files I go, the more complex the audio scrambling becomes. I started to think individual syllables had been reversed and such, but still nothing made any sense.

Please, a professional (or atleast knowledgeable) audio-techy guy, take a look at these goddamn files! Neutral

Yea I've been using Audacity to examine the files and I agree that the different bits are getting chopped up, reversed, sped up, slowed down, and intermixed. It is not very motivating to try to disentangle them without more of a sense that this is leading to something worthwhile. Also, what is the in-game reason why The Seeker is even releasing these audio files? Why are they mangled the way they are? It feels like busywork.

Yep yep - i agree its definitely "busy work" but I also believe someone more accustomed to these audio programs will have a much easier time with it all. Its becoming now almost like a puzzle - the date is said in every file + two obviously different voices saying apparently random things. We have also received a few matching dates - and I think we'll be getting more matching dates and the words being said within each of these dates will more than likely go together.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
And then with file #6 - it clearly says "Work was tedious as ever" in two separate voices, almost overlapping each-other. Why the hell are both voices saying the same thing?! And if you reverse it, you can then clearly hear the date being said as well (January 15th, 2028) - (thanks to whoever first recommended audacity btw, great program!)

#4 is another easier one I think - played forward I can hear "someone at work <pause> is just screwin' with me". Reverse it and it sounds like a different voice saying something like "before she left she told me the <pause> strangest thing though"... and both backward and forward voices are intermixed quite creepily

It seems nearly every file you can hear certain words when its played forward and certain other words when its reversed - could this be the two voices?? one is forward, one is backward?! Later i'll go over each one and write out what I think I am hearing from each file forward and backward... I don't have the time right now tho.

ALSO I don't believe whoever is releasing these files to us is the Seeker - I think that I (us, we, the player) is the Seeker. Someone is calling us that -- as the first pop up before the desktop screen is "Hello there, seeker" and then you click OK ... so he/she/whatever is speaking directly to us and releasing these files to us. Its obviously being kept a mystery as to just who we (the seeker) are dealing with.

thoughts??

I agree that we're the "Seeker", whatever that is meant to mean. But yeah, I'm at a dead end until either: Someone makes a breakthrough on the audios, or a different kind of clue is presented, 'cause I can't fix up these latest audios at all. Plus, the fact that voices reversed and overlapped can result in different people hearing different things, we might distract ourselves with false clues.

audio file number 10 is up. once again, the audio is beyond my comprehension to decipher, but i had to reverse the file this time to get the whole date (unreversed all you can hear is 25, reversed you can hear january and 2028)

0xx08 - january 6th, 2028
0xx09 - january 10th, 2028
0xx10 - january 25th, 2028
0xx04 - february 10th, 2028
0xx03 - february 15th, 2028
0xx06 - february 15th, 2028
0xx07 - february 24th, 2028
0xx02 - february 25th, 2028
0xx05 - february 25th, 2028
0xx01 - march 1st, 2028

this'll be the last date list i'm doing for now, until there's some significant progress other than that we've been getting with the awkward files.

Any chance for an upload? The site seems to have forgotten I've already uncovered the anomaly and I can't be bothered waiting around again for it to appear.

To anyone trying to hit the anomaly:

In the top right-hand corner there should be a little down-arrow... click that, should bring up a moon shape. Click that and it should change the whole scene to a diagram of the moon orbiting the Earth. Clicking where the Earth should be will bring you to the anomaly screen.

If that makes sense.

That's probably the best way to do it. I have a shortcut, jumping directly to the blue desktop, but it might be bypassing other clues or cookie settings that might become important later. I'd say go ahead and use it for now, but keep an eye out for updates to the main entry site.

The only obvious difference im seeing when loading http://www.interdimensionalgames.com/pre-webgame_01.swf instead of the normal site is the lack of the moving smiley face that triggers the hangman game. Im assuming (rather... hoping) that the smiley face/hangman game will have some sort of importance in the future.

Right clicking on the world view desktop comes up with c 2010-2028 international games as an email address, which gives you this address

Well it seems like they've addressed this issue. There's a new company blog post:

Quote:
Since one of our goals with iDGi's online presence is to make the site unique to every visitor, we've implemented state checking and setting. This works just like checkpoints in a game. Now, and for our major future releases, the website will remember your progress…
which is quite unique…
as far as websites go.

And now when I enter the site, there's all this flash hoopla about "Checking Last Reference" or something, and then I am taken directly to the desktop screen.

And audio file #11 is there now. It's more of the reversed/spliced/distorted sounds. Yay.

Wierd, I get the same kind of loading screen as I did for the website as before, and the anomaly still isn't showing us like it did before.

Whats wierd is that the little down arrow that you mentioned, the one where you click on the little cresent moon afterwards.. for some reason that cresent moon isn't there for me now so I can't use that to shortcut the anomaly. This is putting me off getting back to the desktop and checking out the latest audio files since I have no idea how I activated the anomaly in the first place. :/

as mentioned before, you have to wait until the moon moves in front of the sun for the anomaly to appear. or, you can try the direct link to the desktop flash file posted above.

as for audio file 0xx011, the zip it is contained in has a note of interest, being that the sentence you can form from this one is "as they say, they say you should never teach a robot too much... it might outgrow its masters." - part of that sentence you can find in the say.txt file.

as always, the audio file is indecipherable to me. i can't even get the date this time - however, the parts that i can make out is 21st and 2028.
