bout to head home from work and won't be on again tonight. but I just noticed this too and I wanted to share http://forum.interdimensionalgames.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=30&page=1

there's alot more on that thread now then when you posted about it Cherrytree. None of Vidal's advice unfortunately is any different then what we already know. The rest is cool though, he's keeping track of all the shit that we've found in the game. I guess it's all the findings you guys have been emailing him?

Yep. It's everything that's been given to him by all of us through email.

Ok, I actually did E-mail Vidal asking about whether the Device game would be available for "playback" after we're done officially using it. Essentially, the answer is yes. However, something he said kind of stood out to me, and I kind of thought I should share it:

Quote:
The more people who experience the other world in "present time," the more accurate and proficient iDGi-1 becomes at replaying those same events in the future, for others. We want to always allow new joiners the possibility of "catching up" with everyone else and to also experience the same things we did.

I wonder what the PMs are trying to imply here...
Thoughts?

@Duke: It might just be a fancy way of saying "keep playing" I'm not sure myself.

I've edited the wiki with all the new memories i've collected. I suggest you head over there, and check them out. Quite a few of them hold interesting information. I'm adding them by every time I come across them.

(Also i'm emailing them to Vidal. He's going to get quite the big suprise when he get's on his email. I've already sent 3 emails, and more to come.)
He said he didn't mind.

I've also found out some great tricks for 2 of the levels. (What do you expect when i've played these levels 10+!)

Level 8: What i've done (It's not a sure fire way.) Place one piece on the red path then quickly put one far away from your other pieces. I've seen him go after the far away one then my line. (Like I said he will sometimes attack your line, but it makes things easier)

Level 10: You don't have enough time? Then provoke Henry into attacking you. This will 1. Prolong the match for another of those green boxes. and 2. Depending on how much you have there you may get a load of enemy's thus refilling your time (Each enemy gives you 2 seconds. I think it's a little more if you get 2 or more). What I mean is when you start playing the level Henry will automatically place a piece (Or he's always done it for me) go attack it. This will provoke Henry into attacking your piece. It then goes back and forth. Do this when you're low at 50 seconds on your timer.

That's all

Since Vidal has opened a thread for anything related to Greenberg's Device in the IDGI forums, I posted my memories there.
I still might make an account for the wiki and edit them into your list too if I find the time.

I've also almost finished the current game 3 times (2 complete runs and 1 still missing brain 10)

During my last playthrough, I noticed the same weird behaviour with the 21 screen as duke9509 had.
As you know brain 9 kicks you out as soon as you collect 1 memory, at first I intentionally got myself kicked out a few times to collect those memories and afterwards I set out to do that level.
Since I hit the 21 screen on the last 2 playthroughs at exactly that point, i was expecting it to occur this time too, but as I rapidly progressed in the level (killed many reds to gain time and got a few memories), I never hit 21 seconds and the screen never appeared (I won the level in a regular fashion by completing the pathway)
Then, after reaching brain 10 and playing for a while, when the timer hit 21 the screen appeared and i automatically won the level.
My best guess is that this is a one time joker that you get after completing level 8 and if you manage to keep it from activating at level 9 you will have an easy win at 10.

Also, since some of you were wondering how you could backup your progress.
If anyone is interested in how to do this, shoot me a PM Smile

@Minz: It was only me really since I keep replaying through the levels, but I already know how to.

Also you don't have to worry about editing the list with your memories. I already had grabbed those earlier, and they're already on the list.

Vidal's edited the list with the memory's I emailed him, and Minz's.

Also one of the memories

Wow. I just have no comment. I would have never expected this from Brain 5.

Okay just blasted my way through the 2 new levels we have.

First off there is a new message at the start of the device. I'm attaching it.

Level 11: Another fast paced level. At first I thought there would be a stalemate again. (Like some of the other fast paced levels), but it's either me or I slowly gained ground on the virus. Time shouldn't run out for you in this level. Just because he's placing so fast that you should gain time.

A new window popped up at the start of level 12 addressed to Vidal. It mentioned a "Signal Strength" (I've noticed this on the white message that appears in the corner of the strength. Something about variable strength signal) I've already emailed him with it, and asked if he knows what it means.

Level 12: Same fast paced action. This one was only different in the time department. I couldn't really gain time (I bet you can), but I quickly finished it. Again it seemed like I just slowly gained ground and overwhelmed it.

Finally the writing at the end of the levels.
Well isn't that just great news. Which one should we trade for "The lesser evil" or the "greater evil" I've asked Vidal's on his thoughts if we should tell Walter. I would suggest to everyone not to say anything for the moment. I think it would rather discourage him in his rather recent state of mind.

Edit: The audio is messed up pretty badly. Here's what I could make out
I simply acquire my surrondings. *Laughter* I know this now. Made by humans, (One?) Better than humans. Perhaps there is a greater force beyond the world of man. Something out there that's ----- so ------ surpassing even you. (Careful humans?) my masters *Sounds cut off* Then the audio ends.

We may have a problem again...

Umm, for me, on brain 12, the red guys once again take time away. usually just a second or two. Either that, or they don't do anything and the time's just ticking away as i take them. However, the virus is more violent with the placing than ever, so it's nothing like the last time.

EDIT: Ok, I'm pretty sure they just don't do anything. The memory squares give a ton on that level though. I've already beaten it.

OK I'm done too now!

11 and 12 were actually not very hard at all! As you guys both pretty much said. They are both super fast paced but like cherrytree said it's just a matter of overwhelming the red. I used the "turn all red into green" specific for both levels to kick ass. In level 12 once I got the special and had a bunch of time I just let the red place for a while. Once there was a shitload of red on the board I hit the bottom special and won. Got lucky and got a bunch of the memory boxes though.

I'll post the thoughts I got to the forum post of vidals.

New Greenberg post too explains the text message a little I think. Henry is turning into a different demon altogether!

edit: guess i'll put the thoughts I got here too. You're going so fast Cherrytree the other thoughts I got you've beaten me to the punch =(

Quote:
Brain 11:

Age 6: "Did Mama invite any of my friends to my birthday party this year? I don't even know these people."
Age 16: "Take away my car if I fail another course? What the hell?! That's not fair!"

Brain 12:

Age 9: "Kart-wheels make dizzy, but they're so much fun!"

That's me. I'm a ninja.

Anways I did get a response from Vidal

Quote:

Excellent!!!
Yes, I know exactly what "Signal Strength" would mean. It's funny because that is an internal term for a component of iDGi-1 that only we would understand. We already know (from Greenberg's offhand comment about it) that Henry has "stolen" information on iDGi-1, so I'm hoping then he knows what we need to continue! This makes me believe we'll be seeing more of these in the future.

My team is currently constructing a new dialing system for the satellite information we're receiving and there are a few different settings like the Signal Strength that we're going to need before continuing. We could probably wing some of it, but not all of it.

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing about Greenberg. He's more than a little unstable, I think. He's downright losing it and if he learns what that message from Henry says, I can't see him continuing. On the other hand, however, I think he's definitely pretty nuts to think the Church-related ramblings of Henry could have been a good thing - "waste removal?" Come on! I think he wants this to work so badly that he'll almost believe anything to explain away what are obvious signs of trouble. I'm sure it's possible he could fix whatever the problem is if he knew about it, but it's definitely a risk to tell him!!

What if we tell him and he finds a problem that's much worse than we think, and he CAN'T fix it? We'd be screwed. He'd quit and we wouldn't get any more codes. We need those codes above all else - we need to get back in there!

I'm going to leave the decision to you, my friend. Maybe discuss it with your people and go from there. Personally I'm going to continue staying away from the thread entirely and we'll see what we see. From the beginning we here at iDGi have been taking an observatory stance as best we can on the entire situation. You and your interactions within the other world are the story, not us! Wink

So you like the note from me, eh? Haha. Funny story about that. I received a rather rude email the other day from someone who was Really angry at me for "making the damned fucking Greenberg Device so God damned hard!" - I politely explained to him what the intro message now tells everyone: "I'm sorry you feel the need to get so angry with me but you must keep in mind this device was NOT of our creation." Obviously some people don't quite get it, hopefully that will help!

As for the audio message from Henry, I'm trying to put together a few different people's opinions and my own. A lot of this was from you and I completely agree, but other bits are from others. It's so much easier to hear things and then put things together when people tell you what THEY think is being said. Wink How does this sound to you:

"I'm simply a product of my surroundings. *Laughter* I know this now. Made by humans, no better than you. (the "no better than you" is REALLY hard to hear unless you reeeally crank it loud as hell) Perhaps there is a greater force beyond the world of man. Something out there that's celestial.. .(maybe something here, maybe just noise)... capable of surpassing even you. ('Careful humans' maybe like you said? definitely possible as this part is really messed up but there sounds like something's there!) ... where's my masters? (CREEPY ending)

That's it for now and obviously thanks again for the next two sets of sat codes!

I'm going to stress here not to send any emails to Vidal as a PM. He is not going to respond to you in PM he will respond IC.

I'm thinking of lying through my teeth to Walter. Seems the safest choice.

Hmmmm

Well I just realized something as I read through the last few posts from Greenberg. Yes, work is sloooow right now! looking at the paragraph of random sentences that Henry spoke to Greenberg. Noticing both Alvarez and John Galts names got me thinking and it turned out I was right!!!

Those are ALL things Malcolm has said to us over the forums. You can copy/paste all those lines into the search and find a post from Malcolm speaking the exact words. does this mean the entire 2 days of babbling from Henry was all stuff Malcolm has said to us?

The line Greenberg quoted from Henry on June 3rd too was also Malcolm on the forums: "We don't need to lobby for governmental support when all we need is the peoples support to receive the same result."

What the heeeellll?? Should we tell Greenberg maybe??

edit: oh except I do like that you've lied to walter, cherrytree and seadevil. It will at least keep him going we hope. I'm with vidal in saying those codes are all that matter right now!

As i've been playing through 11 and 12 again I'm noticing something a bit odd.

When the red square comes around to place a piece near mine it's like it can't. The thing goes for it then bounces back, goes for it, bounces back. I don't know if this is a glitch or intentional. But I thought it was an interesting thing to note. It's like it's being actively blocked from placing pieces.
