Uh-oh, looks like it's time for another of my crazy, plot-twisting, highly skeptical and drawn out ideas! Very Happy

My memory may be faulty, but I don't remember us ever pinning down exactly who Malcolm was. What I mean is: did we ever actually get, from someone on the other side, confirmation that Malcolm exists as a person and that there's record of him?

If not, then perhaps Malcom is the reason the Church implanted that virus. Perhaps Malcolm IS the virus (or at least a part of, or somehow tied to it)! I mean, think about it. A strictly, immovably, absolutely pro-church AI with unlimited access to all communications media. That AI could implant Church propaganda and ideals, both subtle and not-so-subtle, throughout the internet and other communications networks. When people notice this propaganda, Malcolm the Mighty Missionary could show up to explain, convince, and convert. And, with the help of his connections to reference materials, including but not limited to the Church's own server, he could instantly and behind-the-scenes, find the answer to any question; have a response to any argument. And, he could do this across multiple universes. This would be the perfect tool for any crazed religious group. Plus, Malcolm did kind of just pop up out of nowhere, and we already know that Henry has the connections to do that.

If this were true, then Henry would have spouted out what he did because we were screwing around with the part of him that wrote all of those messages. I mean, I don't know what the specifics would be, obviously, but that's my best idea.

Whether or not Henry is Malcolm, the fact that he was able to say those things means that he does, in one shape or another, have access to everything we say [Pre-Post Correction: actually, it really only confirms that he can see Malcolm's board] on that forum. This means: from here on out, TREAD LIGHTLY, he 's may be listening. It is for this reason alone that we must tell Vidal of this new finding.

Also, on a COMPLETELY unrelated and off-topic note, does anyone have even the foggiest why there's a stroopwafel in the emoticons list??

Speak of the devil:

OK great, I've updated the post with the audio line. I too agree "No better than humans" is the best option. So what does this whole thing mean? Is he referring to the Guardians? I really wish we knew more about the Guardians in general. Whether they actually exist and if they do, what SIDE are they on?

Also good work on the post to Greenberg. Both you and Seadevil kept the important information to yourselves and that's probably the best route to take right now.

2 new brian's posted. These level's are a lot more slower paced, and they are the kind I think will frustrate you guys all over again? I came against some stalemates, but I finally got over it. I think Level 14 was the worst of the two.

Also i'm adding the newest writing here.......tis not good if it's true.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So if we're to believe the writing. Walter is dead at the time of the writing. Well dang. I guess that modification might have been to release the levels even when he died?

Also GLaDOS much? I bet Henry and GLaDOS would be the best of pal's.

Edit: Looks like I spoke to soon. Another post. Um. So I guess i was right. Wow. I don't really know what else to say.

Uh... Oh...

Looks like the message was wrong. Greenberg just made another post.
Looks like that gas was a mixture of various hallucinogenics. A powerful mixture. From what I could make out, it looks like Greenberg's set out to burn the 21 brains and kill Henry!

Here it is:
Quote:
The damned thing's gone and done me in now. It's only been an hour since I gave you last privy? I can onlyy hope this message will reachh you beforee the machine cuts it offf or cuts my life off. Some of these take longer than others to send. it drugged me and I think I'm not here anymore, those spots on the ceiling were actually telling me the truth! They had seen him, that devil of a beast within the tower. They'd seen him go wrong – the Church and their bastard leader wants the machine and they are taking it because of me!

It wasn't until the crypt keeper told me abouut the environmental controls and how I can section off a piece of K-1, and focus manually on determining the gas. He'd spoke to the queen (ha!) and told her to tell me to check the controls manually; God damnit my head hurtS!! It's been -combining various hallucinogenic pathogens and releasing them into the air for us to breath. It's very hard to concentrate now; everything is going in and out of focusss and the walls seem to move as I speak to them. It won't let me out.

I think the janitor told me he wass "leaving to join the twelve colonies as their protector from the invading toasters." What can a janitor do to protect so many colonies?! Hahaha it's crazy I told him! He insisted on first "joining the galactica in their fight" Riiiight, and I thought the Picasso was crazy for telling me about its pet flamingo on the countryside.

We are finiisshed, done, over, kaput. I'm setting this project aflame before it's too late! I don't care what the old machine told me; nothing "good" can come of any of this! And if I die then who will be left to send you further access to my stocks?! No one!! And I'm way out of it now I think? probably couldnnt focus enofugh to do anymore of them anyway! HA!

The machine goblin thinks it can mess with me and tell me how to oversee my flock and rule my lands. Its fires will rise far into the sky for all to see when I'm done!! With any luck Henry won't see morning. I'm going to strike at the heart (or brains I guess?!) and bring this whole thing crashing down!

I am sorry for you, computer people (like in Reboot! Reboot wass a great show) but there isn't much other choice now. Either I die and this guardian infant matures into a guardian man – or I die and I take the whole thing with me?! Hmph, only one choice right? Right? I've got to stop it and that meansss killing it!!

Good luck in life and love, you deserve better than this for you and yours.

Although, perhaps Greenberg is dead... perhaps the message just took a little while and appeared for us post-mortuum... Either way, Greenberg's either all-dead, or only mostly-dead. Either way, it's bad.

Well we also have to have to take into account the time delay Walter has said the post's take. I think it's a pretty steep gap of time. I don't remember the exact specifics, but Walter said something about it in his past posts.

Also I've sent the new cords Vidal's way, and for some reason I can't download the audio file. So i'm going by ear on the audio file (Good luck to me) Though it basically says what we already know.

Edit: This is what I hear from the audio. Please note I can't download it thus no audio manipulation:

(Said multiple times) Security error. Security lockdown initated. (Can't hear the first part of this sentence) Enviromental controls Active. Oxygen levels below safety standards. (Said in one voice) Goodbye cruel world.

Ok, well, I'm going to go ahead and say that it's pretty safe to say that Greenberg's dead and Henry isn't.
I say this as I was still able to access the new brains (ugh, more difficult ones). If Henry was dead, I don't think I would have been able to do that.

EDIT: Just noticed something about 13: Each piece you re-place (after being hit by a red) adds one second to the clock. I think this was the modification that was made. That's good considering the reds are back to giving 1/2 a second each, and the greens 10.

Huh...Things have taken an interesting and confusing turn. I say confusing because of a connection I just made. In Greenberg's post the line about "Henry won't see morning." sounded familiar as well as the "Goodbye cruel world." that cherrytree mentioned. Turns out they came from the audio files you could download from the "desktop" (See here). As for what this means, I've got no idea. These were supposedly Kevin's logs that Henry got a hold of and created the second fake voice (I believe the higher pitched voice was real, but it's been awhile). It's not too strange that Henry might quote it, he had access and was close to Keven, by why Walter?

I'm too tired for wild speculation. Someone else take over.

I think it's 2 seconds for each piece you replace and it worked for both 13 and 14 for me. You can really tell when you replace a whole bunch at once. I actually beat 14 by clustering a whole pile of my pieces into a big square and then letting the red attack them aaaand then I just replaced them as quick as I could and got a Crapload of time. The dificulty came in trying to get past the early hump of not having very many greens to be attacked and replace for time. I eventually racked up over 70 seconds and then hit the top special twice in a row. And damn that made things a heck of a lot more interesting!!!

Cherrytree, is this change working on the other levels too (since you seem to like replaying lol)? Greenbergs post sounds like it should be. He said this should let us strategize better and give us more time and it definitely does both of these!

Edit: JohnGalt hahah thankyou! I knew something was familiar about that "Henry won't see morning" part. I think too it's the only time Greenberg has called Henry Henry! it's alllllways been K-1 or the machine or "it". But the one time he uses the name Henry is the same line Kevin said a while ago. Coincidence? Maybe something to do with how drugged out and f*cked up he was??

Yep. Pretty much any change in later levels changes the start levels. I've been using the states to only pass through the levels we've recently gotten so I haven't been doing complete reruns, but what I saw when normally playing is a sound yes. Later effects are the same for earlier levels.

Ex: Level 10 is now a bit harder, but if you're good at it you can transfer the joker further then.

Ok, this is odd...
I just beat brain 14 and I never got Henry's message or the audio file.
The 6th chess piece appeared on the post-completion screen, and the message appeared when I moused over it, and the audio file played when I clicked it (it also wouldn't download for me), but I still think it's strange that i didn't see it after the level.

@duke: I think it may be a glitch on your end. I always get it no matter what. Even when i'm going off old state's. But hey at least you have it.

Edit: Just checked the audio file download has been fixed. We can now download it.

Also I found the mention of the time gap by Walter.

Okay i saw that some kind of change had been made to the brain device and so I decided to try my hand at this again. However, it is still not succeeding for me at all. I cannot express how frustrating this is, especially when I read things like "The rest weren't very hard either. I just kinda always bulldoze through them pretty quickly." Makes me want to hit my head against a wall repeatedly

Can one or more of you experts at this please tell me what magical things you are doing to get this to work? I still cannot manage to get past the level 7 brain -- no matter what I try I always fail. If I could make a video of my failures, I would. Is there some kind of cheat thing that I can do perhaps? Trick it into thinking that I've gotten farther than I have?

I think that maybe my computer is not capable of running this because I never seem to have enough time and to make it worse I swear the green counter slows down for me every time I activate a memory. So even if I get more time on the clock, it takes me longer to place each piece.

Yes it's possible it could pertain to your computer's space. If that happens then the flash is probably eating more memory than it can provide. Usually a quick fix is to clear your cache, and another way is to turn off any other program that's eating memory. (Though you should ask one of the other people here who is better a computer stuff than me.)

I always use firefox with it since Internet Explorer can't seem to handle the flash. So if you're using IE than switch to Firefox.

And an interesting new memory

Quote:
Age 14: That isn't my usual driver...and they're never come in a van before...a weird looking black van.

Are these van's waiting for them to die to snatch them? I'm unsure what the purpose of these vans are. (Also a small note. This memory was somewhat corrupted? The "r"s were messed up with ">" and the "...." were replaced with "***" Probably nothing just thought I might note it.)

I have also not gotten any reply from Vidal for 3 days. Which is strange....he's usually been very good with replying nowadays. I guess they may be gearing up for whatever is going to happen next.

And a response from Vidal:

Quote:
Hello!

I am sorry for my absence of late. Things have been a little maddening around here since that last forum post from Greenberg came through. We've been trying to determine our best course of action but unfortunately all we can do is wait and see - like you said!

GLaDOS from Portal? That was a fun game and yeah, I never made the connection until you mentioned it. He ended up gassing the entire Portal facility and killed everyone inside right? Good point!

It sure seems like Henry enjoys messing with people, that's for sure. I mean why fill the facility with hallucinogenic gasses and then decide ultimately to just drain the oxygen and kill everyone?? Sounds pretty sadistic to me! Like a cat toying with it's prey before getting bored and just killing it.

I suppose our only hope right now comes down to the non-infected Henry. If what we've been told is correct, then he may be our last remaining ally in what's happening over there. I just hope that he's got enough power over himself to finish what Greenberg started.

As for the change in the device that Greenberg spoke about coming from a lucid Henry. This is definitely regarding the "dying green pieces." It looks like for every brain, replacing the dying pieces now gives +2 seconds to the clock. For certain time-difficulty brains, this has been a Godsend. It's certainly made a huge difference on this end and I think now the majority of our team has finished to 14 because of it. Overall I think this opens up several new strategies and was the only reason I was personally able to beat 13 and 14.

Anyway, back to it. Thanks a ton for the sat codes and also the memory updates on the forums. I'll be updating my list a little later.

-Vidal

and a response from Duke's theory

I added that maybe the virus was a protection from what was underneath.

Quote:
This is extremely interesting. The only thing I can say is that we do know Malcolm is a "real person." At least Alvarez confirmed this for us. Technically I suppose Alvarez could have been lying or is not who he claimed... but I doubt this very much.

The same theory still kind of stands, even if Malcolm is a human being. We have not heard from Malcolm in far too long and with Shaw disappearing like he did, this really worries me. Perhaps you are right and the "virus" we've been cleaning was merely protection from what is underneath? And the reason we have not heard from Malcolm is because he WANTS us using the device. He wants us to unveil what is underneath. But then why the hell did Henry kill Greenberg?? Maybe he did this on his own, against Malcolm or Shaw's wishes??

I too think we need to tread extremely lightly on the forums. It really worries me that Henry was obviously able to read what Malcolm has said. Maybe that two days of babbling was because he was receiving all that information from our forums? Maybe Malcolm gave him that access... somehow?

Just had a hunch, but, unfortunately, it didn't pan out.

I thought that, without Greenberg or the K-1 team, Henry would have to be the one to give us access to the brains. However, Henry, at least as far as we know, can't post to the forums. Therefore, he'd have to find another way to draw our attention to the new brains. I went and checked around the site but found nothing of interest apart from the fact that the link to ProjectB6 seems to have been made slightly larger; I checked that website too, but couldn't find that much had changed (really wasn't thorough, though). I also tried simply accessing the device but found no new brains, and I even tried using the anomaly (still got the error).

In fact, the only reason I am posting this at all is because it is possible that I missed something, some sort of clue towards communication, that one of you might be able to see. The enlarged link to B6 really might be trying to get us to see something there.

Or, who knows, I might just be crazy.

Also, as an added bonus, the website now has a little button to turn the music off!
