Initially backed off this because from looking at ARGs in the past it seems "My friend is missing" is becoming a little cliche, but having read a bit it seems pretty interesting actually. So, officially lurking.

Believe me, once you play a couple ARGs a lot of things start looking cliche. The trick of a good PM is that they can take something cliche and make it interesting anyway. Either through lifelike characters, a good story, interesting puzzles, whatever.

Yeah I'm realising that. Something about the texts from Bri suddenly made me interested, the way letters were missing like it was typed in a hurry for some reason really got across the sense of fear or whatever, dunno why but it just worked for me. Made me want to save her.

Yeah, that entry has been up most of the day. I'm hoping we'll get another one tonight or something. I'd be on AIM waiting for him to report in, but I've got a friend over and that would be kind of rude.

New post up in the blog. I'm also talking to Morgan on AIM now. Here's the blog post:
Quote:
I woke up in my car on the side of the road, about a mile away from the aviary, just an hour ago. I had Brianna's necklace around my neck, and a small cut across my forehead. I feel sick. I have no idea what happened yesterday, and I'm not sure I want to. I don't know what I'm going to do now.
Yeah, that's not good.
ETA: Here's our conversation. It's short and doesn't really contain any new info, so I'm not bothering to bold anything.
Quote:
[13:25] SamRey56: Hey, I just saw the new post. Are you okay?
[13:26] manicmorgangray: I'm going to need to do something.
[13:26] SamRey56: What something are you thinking of?
[13:27] manicmorgangray: I have no idea. I know that this is serious, but I don't even know exactly what happened.
[13:29] manicmorgangray: I have no memory of yesterday, past getting in my car and starting it up. I can't even remember the name of the place. I've learned absolutely nothing, besides that the aviary definitely has something to do with Brianna.
[13:29] SamRey56: And that we've moved beyond the "this could be something normal" and into the "this is clearly something weird" range.
[13:30] manicmorgangray: Yeah, I guess. Unless I got blackout drunk or something, found Brianna, took her necklace, and passed out on the side of the road. But there are to many holes in that.
[13:32] SamRey56: There are. Occam's Razor, man. As hard as it is to believe, we've just stepped into an episode of the X-Files.
[13:34] manicmorgangray: Thank Scrubs for me knowing what you're talking about. I'm not quite ready to accept ghosts, but I won't throw away any reasonable(ish) suggestions.
[13:36] SamRey56: Yeah, Scrubs is how I know about it. As far as reasonable...total memory loss is not reasonable. I'm not going to start throwing out zany suggestions, but just keep that in mind.
[13:37] SamRey56: I think the next step might be visiting Brianna's apartment. If she's connected to the aviary somehow, maybe something there will help clarify that.
[13:37] manicmorgangray: I guess I've reached the point where breaking and entering may be appropriate. I guess that that crowbar would've come in handy there. It's gone though.
[13:39] SamRey56: You don't necessarily need to do any b&e. Remember, talk to the landlord. Don't mention the aviary, that'll sound weird, but if you have to just make up a story about her leave a club with some guy and that now you're worried. Whatever you think will work.
[13:39] SamRey56: Although there is the risk of talking to someone, anyone, about this.
[13:39] SamRey56: So it's up to you how you want to approach that.
[13:40] manicmorgangray: You're right. I'm thinking I'll handle it tomorrow. Classes are out, so I shoud be fine.
[13:41] manicmorgangray: Oh, sorry to cut this short, but I need to go take a shower. I'm sweaty and dirty, somehow. This is way to fucking wierd for me.
[13:42] SamRey56: Yeah, that's understandable. Just one more thing: Check your phone. Maybe you recorded something at the aviary?
[13:42] manicmorgangray: Maybe. I'll check after I wash. Bye.
[13:43] SamRey56: Later.
[13:43] *** "manicmorgangray" signed off at Sun Jan 17 13:43:27 2010.
So, Morgan is starting to freak out. Just a reminder, he hasn't gotten to the point of accepting too weird suggestions, so try to keep any ideas couched in at least some level of reasonableness if you want to keep him from getting more freaked.

He doesn't usually initiate the contact. It's usually me IMing him. But as far as him not talking to other people, he did say that some people frustrated him with asking a bunch of questions about family histories, mental illness, etc. He might be wary of talking to other people because of that, though I can't really say for sure.

Guess I could always talk to him about Alabama winning the NCAA National Championship, that was pretty sweet!

Brief conversation with Morgan. The necklace was undamaged, indicating that either there was no struggle (if she was wearing it, it likely would've been damaged in a struggle) or she wasn't wearing it at the time of whatever happened.
There's also a new blog post.

If you guys want to talk to me, you should initiate the conversation. Sorry, it's just a thing with me. I hate starting conversations.
Did someone mention this to him in any communication?

I use meebo as I dislike having so many IM clients running.
Though I didn't bring up family history or mental illness, I got the impression that he didn't really want to talk to anyone else. I'll keep my meebo on and see if he pops up.

Is it really a good sign if a PM has to actuallytell his players to contact him...?
Anyway, this looked pretty interesting, so I did a little Lovecraft research. My goodness he's an odd fellow. Do these monstrous birds Morgan's dreaming about bear any similarity to the weird and wacky creatures from Lovecraft's books, perchance?
