[Trailhead?] Last Statue Has this site been discussed?
http://www.margarasmedia.com/
Definitely odd. External links all seem to be to real sites that give info on the topic. But while "Last Statue" is interesting (and long), Sad Iron Blues seems kinda pointless.
But a LOT of work has gone into this.... likely more chaos fiction than ARG. Note that every character name has meaning, often more than one and there are puzzlish sorts of things going on, but no real obvious puzzles.

One link If you start reading the story you see the list of items on the right, each with a link but one is botched. "Bruno Tacho Somoza". So searching on this will get you, eventually, here .
This page mostly just repeats sections of the Statue story. But this part was interesting:

BINA
SATURN
LEAD
KEY-A
PATH:NORTH FORK EAST
HEXAGON COORDINATE: LCHTDJDHCMR
DECAN: GREEN

"Oulipians: rats who build the labyrinth from which they plan to escape" -Raymond Queneau
"History is a nightmare from which I am tryng to awake." -James Joyce
"This is not a game…" – Jeanine Salla
"Everything in the world exists to be in a book." -Stephan Mallarme
"This is not a novel." -James Wood
"Everything you know is wrong…" -Ts'ui Pen
I had to look up who Jeanine Salla was....probably lots of you won't have to.

Anybody else notice that url in the upper left?
Tried reading it and punching it in, but all I get is 404s.
EDIT: it is rather hard to read, by the way, but you already knew that

email sent If I get a reply I will post it. The other story on the site seems unrelated and very un-argish, but I just said I was into mysteries and was curious what this was about.

This is creepy to me for some reason. I'll bite. Here's something interesting. It looks like the url says magarismedia with an i rather margarasmedia with an a. So there's that... Also, how did you get to that blog again?

If you click on the story, last statue, it takes you to chapter one. On the right is a list, people and groups, some of which appear in the story and some don't seem to (but the story is very dense so maybe I missed some).
Every item on the list has a url but it is messed up in one spot. Giordano
Bruno has his last name stuck one line below so it appears as Bruno Tacho Somoza. Now you get this forum when you google but there was not much before. One hit is a dead blog that discusses this as an arg. It says in part:
Quote:
Go to Last Statue. Look at the sidebar with all kinds of names (including Theresa Duncan, of course). Notice that they fucked up the html and had Giordano Bruno's last name mixed in with "Tacho Somoza". Okay so google "Bruno Tacho Somoza". You get another page that looks like maybe a draft of the same passage. It is only available in the cache but google the original page name: d-ras.com/blog/2p=47
That hits a blog called Untermuyer's Blog . Notice the misspelling…a spelling that is very rare on the internet. (LOL…I see it now contains another hit, however, for "kid kenoma's blog" It is another blog related to Last Statue and is obviously going to directly reference Pynchon.) Untermuyer's blog contains nothing but two passages from Last Statue and some argish clues or fake clues or whatever that is. Now…notice the color scheme…it is the exact same as my blog. It was blue and white last week but they changed it to match mine…a little hat tip to let me know they are aware I had stopped by or maybe in anticipation of others discovering it and connecting it to my blog. Maybe they even want you to think I put it there myself.
(There are live links in this passage, but I am too lazy to add them back in. Original is here .
However, as I am going back over this, I realize I went from a dead blog to a dead blog. The Untermuyer park one is still live but this all makes me think that this is either not an arg or one that got abandoned as unfinished. The other blog mentioned as "kid kenoma's" blog is still live but just says "coming soon" in one post from April.
I googled margarismedia.com and got one hit that simply directs to the correctly spelled version. The source code shows that the story itself actually here:
Green Sprout Marketing appears to be a real web marketing company:
http://www.greensproutmarketing.com/main/
Whois on margarasmedia also shows the greensprout information:
http://whois.domaintools.com/margarasmedia.com
I think this whole thing, whatever it is, is dead. I should have looked a little closer before I posted but if I hear back from either email I sent I will let you know.
I don't think it would be polite to post that info here till we are sure there is something to this but I will email the contact listed. The whois site I used shows that there are 10 other sites owned by the same person but you have to spend lots of money to find out what they are.
margarismedia.com which you can see as part of a url at the top does not appear to be owned by anyone.
I have n

I sent an email to the contact address and have not heard back but I sent an email to the contact address for the guy who runs the website.
Quote:
I didn't write the story but made the website for the writer. I don't know too much about the guy but I forwarded your email to his writing partner. His name is Allen something.
I asked him in a reply if both stories were written by the same person and what was up with that url at the top. [/quote]

Somewhere else on that dead blog that you linked, several comments
including a certain "Veal", seemed to be quite certain that this
Greensprout "website" is a fake--any customers? any "friends"?
What makes you think this isn't another Red Telephone?

Was that another ARG, or a failed ARG?
I didn't see any comments. I don't know about Greensprout but if this is an arg they could be fake. I didn't post their info in case this is nothing, though. They do list some customers but their website is unfinished and they still have pages with the placeholder latin text.

Jayne Dennis is a fictional character created by [Bret Easton] Ellis, but aside from the novel [Lunar Park] itself, Ellis has taken several other steps to create verisimilitude for her character. Although she does have a website , the site consists entirely of obviously doctored images and a fictional filmography.
