Drops in a land far, far away

I'll leave my question simple to hopefully allow for a broad range of answers: How would one set up a drop for an ARG they are PMing, if the PM team has no easy way to access the location of this drop?

Something more specific so it doesn't sound illegal: If the PM team would like a drop to be located in Wyoming, but no PM lives near there, how might you get the job done?

And, how would you do so as cheaply as possible?

Ideally, recruit a PM living near Wyoming Wink

Alternatively, if you know anyone at all in the area, you could mail the drop to them for them to place. Of course you can't hire a player to do this, but maybe you have friends. The only other way I can think of is just to get there yourself somehow, which is always a pain.

A thought I've had but never used-

Search for, hopefully find, and contact one of those "Geocaching" groups in "Misc. Location". You know, the GPS scavenger hunt people?

Geocachers are like the ARGer's second cousin. Contact them and see of they'll help. Many of them are probably familiar with or have at least heard of ARGs.

Mail your "drop package" to one of them and have them "drop" it.

Edit: Here is the official (??) "Geocachers" site and a list of "caches" in Wyoming. Ten new caches have been placed in just the last two days. Looks like an active bunch.

Edit again: If you find someone, consider researching the area that they live in and send them a giftcard or two for local places along with the package. Don't offer it up front just use it as a polite "Thank You".

I like AngriBuddhist's idea. Smile

Another thing you could do is talk to Jeromy Barber, who ran the Maddison Atkins ARG. (http://www.12thstreethouse.com/12thstreethousedir/blog/12thstreetblog.html) He has done several drops by mailing the necessary items to a BTS person. (In other words, you could just go on to the UF map and pick a player in the area you want the drop, and then contact them to be BTS just to do the drop.)

But I still really like AngriBuddhist's idea.

Thanks for posting that link, E.Y.E. Spy. I knew I had seen something like that before, but couldn't find it again.. Rolling Eyes
(Is it listed somewhere here in the links/tools section here at UF? If it is, I guess I just haven't seen it.)
