Gavin glanced at Faye who was sitting next to him. He hadn't noticed her, but her struggling and cries caught his attention. Jake sitting next to her looked worried. Gavin shook Faye three times.

"Faye.....Faye.......c'mon your safe now. Wake up."

(( Gah! Sorry! Went to take a shower. ))

Faye sat up suddenly as Gavin shook her, covered in sweat. Her breath came in short bursts, and she couldn't stop her teeth from chattering. Jake, a concerned look on his face, leaned over, resting a hand on her forehead.

"Gah, you're burning up!" he pulled his hand back, peering into her eyes, which were cloudy and unfocused. She wasn't quite with them, still. Jake turned to Gavin, running a hand through his disheveled brown hair.

"She gets like that when she's feverish. She hallucinates and has weird nightmares. Anyone got any water I can try to make her drink?" He addressed the last question to the entire car. Faye let out a little whimper, shrinking back from the window, eyes seeing something no one else was.

"Come on Faye, you're freaking everyone out...you picked a bad time to catch a cold, kid." Jake whispered soothingly in Faye's ear, arm around her shoulder protectively. He could feel the dry heat radiating through her tshirt.

Gavin still had the soldier on his shoulder and her head was starting to get uncomfortable on his shoulder. He didn't budge though. Hell he didn't even notice. He was focused on Faye. Reaching with his left hand he put a hand to her head and it was on fire.

"C'mon Faye you don't wanna get sick now." It wasn't in a mean or demanding way. More like a pleading get better way.

Of all the people in the group he was closest to Faye. She was one of the few people who accepted him for himself and didn't criticize him. Glancing over at the soldier he said.

"Do you have water or something we can use. Maybe a medicine kit. We need to help her she has a fever."

Faye was walking in the forest, running, no, more like floating, over the layers of leaves and debris littering the ground. Everything was silent. Almost...too silent. Faye stopped, detachedly looking at her surroundings. Everything had an almost reddish hue to it. Dazed and confused, she saw what looked like two ridiculously long legs. Must be a tree...she followed the legs up, to what appeared to be an abdomen, in a suit, topped by.....a head...but...it had no face. Faye screamed as the thing reached out, touching her forehead with one of it's long, surreal arms.

Faye, still lost in nightmares and hallucinations, screamed and flinched away as Gavin's hand touched her forehead. Jake's arm tightened around her as she struggled, keeping her firmly in her seat.

(Wait are you guys next to the factory or what?)

((WE road away from the factory in David's car. You soldiers are evacuating still. BTW I don't exactly know where the factory was so i can't tell where we're driving.))

The new girl whose name he still didn't know pulled out a canteen of water and handed it to Gavin. Gavin put the canteen to Faye's lips and she drank in her unconsciousness. Then he whispered in her ear quietly.

"Faye, this is Gavin. It's all okay. He's gone, we got away. Your safe I promise." Gavin leaned back. The soldier's head had returned to his shoulder. He was dozing but he couldn't afford to go to sleep. So he kept his mind preoccupied.

"I'm Gavin what's your name?" He asked the soldier.

[Tyran]

The Overseer turned, looking as the car drove away. Great, someone had already decided to split up from the main group. He shook his head and

*Bang*

The world seemed to explode with noise. "What the hell is happening?"

"Sir, he's coming! Right from the clearing over there!"

He turned and raised his gun, pointing it to the trees.

The Tall Man was there, close to the ground like some sort of demented, humanoid spider. It skittered across the ground, various limbs twisting and contorting, grabbing at the air.



The Overseer almost turned and ran right there, but managed to compose himself. "All teams, open fire!"

The ground around it was peppered with fire and the thing shrieked, one limb flying through the air and grabbing one of the soldiers by the head. With one toss, his body was lost in the trees.

"Rekova!" He turned to the crowd, people panicking now. "Get to the town! Everyone, get to the town, we'll cover you!"

"Keep firing!"

After handing the man the canteen, Kate looked a little worried for the girl next to him. After resting for a bit more, she leaned up more into the seat so she wasn't causing the guy's shoulder that much trouble.

"I'm Gavin, what's your name?" suddenly asked the guy and she jumped a little. Moving away from his shoulder, she cleared her throat before speaking. "Corporal Connors. Just...you can call me 'Kate'. Thanks for the save back there," she smiled, truly thankful.

She flinched a little as she heard the thunderous fire of bullets back at the factory. "They're...shooting that thing, aren't they?"

Gavin smiled at the girl named Kate then heard the bullets.

"Looks like we got outta there just in time." he prayed. For all those men who were probable to die. Some may live but they'd never recover from the shock.

"Here's the deal. You were running cause you knew that thing was there correct?" he said to Kate although he knew the answer and didn't bother for a response."That thing is a monster I'm sure you've guessed. I want to know what experience you've had with it."

[Serenity]

Kate's eyes shown with a few tears wanting to fall but she pushed them back.

Not in front of people...

She took in a breath before she answered him. "It...He took out my unit...well, I'm not sure about the whole squad. I know my team is dead, though..."

[Tyran]

It grew, it kept growing and growing. Even as they shot at it, bits of black and...god knows what else coming off of the wounds, it kept increasing in size. It was almost as big as a car now, and it was still growing.

The thing skittered over to the factory doors, climbing up the wall and then turning around, limbs on it's back keeping it cemented to the wall.

Oh god. "Get to cover!"

The things hands started to shoot foward, great black spires grabbing and throwing themselves at people, trying to kill as many as they could find. THe Overseer ran across the field and leaped, hiding behind a tree.

The irony of it would have hit him, but instead one of the Masked things decided to reveal itself then, coming out of the fog and charging at him with obvious glee. He turned to fire at it...

no bullets left.

The man cursed and ran into the trees, towards the town. "Retreat! Try and follow the civilians!"

[Serenity]

Kate looked a little apprehensive before continuing. "I think it...made me black out or something. I woke up, my team was gone. I found them in...in shreds a few meters away."

She felt a lump in her throat but she pushed it down. "I...I also found m-my brother's notebook. I don't know how it got here. He's a Marine, disappeared a few weeks ago in Iraq, along with his entire squad. I gave this to him before we both enlisted," she said. A tear fell down her cheek but she quickly wiped it away.

"It just...appeared out of nowhere," she added, taking out the rolled up notebook from her pocket.

Gavin snatched the notebook from her hand and read through a few later pages in the notebook. He knew if this had anything to do with "it" then he wouldn't have written about it right away. One said how he'd blacked out on duty. But one page he flipped to in the back of the book, had a drawing. The ink was slightly smeared but it was a stick figure man. Only it didn't have 2 hands. It had 10. Jutting in different directions. On the bottom the words "Why is he here?". There was no doubt in Gavin's mind.

"That thing killed your brother. It seems that anyone who had some relation to the people it's killed are the people he's after. We have to leave town. And this state."
