Email from Male Carrla trailhead or spam? Over the course of the last few days I've received emails from someone calling themselves Male Carrla. So far, attempts to decipher the messages has been difficult. I'm posting this from the Spam or Trailhead thread.

I thought it might be ARGish but also skeptical of the email adress. Thought it could be junk.
I just got a PM from shrtyscott3 asking why I forwarded him this email. I told him I did not. It turns out he was blind copied on it. So did anyone else receive it? The numbers seem random. I've replied with the standard "Escuse me?" but haven't heard back yet.

So if this is a game they're making it pretty hard to figure out where to start. The latest reply has some of the same numbers but without a key, its not easy going.

I had a thought that there might be a cipher using prime factors of the numbers, but breaking them down didn't really help. If the messages are in TXTMSGSPK, we may be doomed.

Well there is a zero, so I don't think it's a phone keypad.
And there are THREE single number "words": 0, 5 and 8. That makes little sense.
None of these have subject lines? Can you post (or send me if you're paranoid) full headers?

The only thing that bothers me with it being a substitution cipher is the fact there would be doubling up of numbers for any letter after the 10th. If it's a very basic cipher that is.
As for the three single letter words I can only think of three unless you count text speak. I, A and O (As in O Romeo). However most people don't use O like that. If you go to text speak we have: I, A, U, and R. Then you have to consider the fact that any letter can be a single letter word when referring to that letter. IE: You spell Happy with a H.
Ok I'm over thinking this and not helping sorry.
Edit for spelling.

None of the emails I've receive have had a subject, including the one I just got.

It made me think of golden ratio/fibonacci sequnence for some reason.
The numbers aren't fibonacci numbers, though nor do they seem to correspond to phi.

The only reference I can find to "Golden Apple Society" (that exact search phrase) is a hospital fund raising group. Doubt that's it unless they are really getting into their fund raising!
However there are a lot of Golden Apple things out there. Maybe it's a Stenography or however it's called.

Quote:
The Principia itself could be read as a collage-like satire of conventional religions and their sacred texts. The book is a merry blend of jokes, puns, satiric narratives, parodic songs and rituals, word games, illustrations, and secret ciphers . Among the gems in the book are the Law of Fives, an explanation of the Discordian calendar, and information about the Bavarian Illuminati ("The World's Oldest And Most Successful Conspiracy").
EDIT: Haven't read or tried this yet but could be something: http://www.principiadiscordia.com/book/78.php

ugh...I've never really familarized myself with stegdect before. I know it's helpful in knowing if steganography is used. I hope not. It's been hard enough getting info to this point. We'd need a password if it's steg'd

I read the Principa Discordia ages ago, but don't have a copy any more. It's quite a funny book to be honest.
As to stego, I have only once been able to detect one, and it was by total luck. Is anyone familer with it enough to give it a whack? I would suggest trying the password 23 as if I remember that was something in the Principa.

Wouldn't be the first time a MMORPG was used for an ARG.
