Is life on other planets possible?
Arsenic based bacteria discovered by NASA

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/12/02/arsenic-feeding-bacteria-expands-traditional-notions-of-life/?iref=allsearch

Quote:
Scientists have discovered a form of bacteria that can thrive largely on arsenic - an element generally considered toxic - dramatically expanding both traditional notions of how life is sustained and the range of where it might be found in the universe, NASA funded-researchers announced Thursday.

Just some ood for thought and possible ARGishness...

Funny how NASA can "borrow" a USGS discovery made more than half a decade ago and make it, all-of-a-sudden, newsworthy.

ETA: Okay, I guess I'll eat a little crow. This is a subset of the 2005 bacterial group found, last year, and filtered through progressive arsenic poisoning, making it the "zero-phosphorus" strain.
