One other thought... In his resume objective, he says he wants to obtain a position at the Daily Freeman. That's a newspaper in New York. Wonder why he is trying for that when he lives in Texas.

I took some of your advice about kinda outing him and sent this.

Ernest,

I have been doing some investigating myself and have found no mention of you in any of those papers. What starting salary are you looking for?

Did you enjoy your time here in England? Nice place shame about the weather.

Leon

His Reply:
Leon,

I don't know what you mean, I'm UH alumni. Aren't you being a little presumptuous; asking for a salary quote.
As for England; quite nice, liked the pubs and I didn't mind the weather so much. The overcast always kept me thinking,
something may be coming.

Best,
-Ernest

On first glance I didn't spot anything, but when I just scrolled over the text there was a hidden message.

hey all,

Sent Ernest an email suggesting he went freelance as he clearly had good investigative skills, got this reply fairly similar to the others:

Freelance may have to be my style for a bit but it isn't my taste, I'm more of a guaranteed paycheck kind of man.
Call me silly but that's how it is. I'll be posting something on the blog next week so keep an eye out.

Best,
-Ernest

I sent an email the other day, and completely forgot to post it and the reply, but mine didn't appear to have any hidden messages, at least not that I could see. I was hinting to Ernest that I couldn't figure out his clue about prints and hoping for a hint. Dunno

Hey Ernest,

I just ran across your blog and wanted to wish you good luck on your job search. You know, I don't think I've ever seen anyone use paw prints as bullets before. I hope your prospective employers understand their use, I can't make heads or tails of them. Anyways, I look forward to following your search.

Thank you for the e-mail and good wishes, I hope to escape unemployment in a timely fashion. The paw prints are really just some residual school spirit, University of Houston's mascot after is a Cougar. I hope you'll follow my blog, should be informative.

Best,
-Ernest

I've replied to his mail and will edit this post when I hear from him.

What do you mean that there was a hidden message when you scrolled over the text?

A comment on the last blog post takes you to this twitter:

Looks like we've found D, the interviewer.

Edit:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Looks like this whole list is a bunch of interrelated characters.

And poking around, it brings you this blog:

The hunt is on!
And speaking of...

Wow, lots to pour over! Will be analyzing as I go through but first thought on D's Twitter page. Check out that icon. Looks like a Roman lady wth with a bow! Which leads me to think our D's real name is Diana.

This also fits because Diana was Roman goddess of the hunt, according to the Diana entry at Wikipedia. Coding is failing me, but read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diana_(mythology)

When I can better pour through everything, I'll be a bit more coherent. Love me some updates.

Take Care,
Kendra

Edited to add: Okay, I feel dumb... Roll over the icon and you've got Diana listed! Heh.

Wow, still more!
And more!

Yeah still trying to piece everything together. I wondered though- are the websites found earlier tied to Ernest? Is it possible that there are multiple ARGs from that class and they're all piggybacking off each other?

Received an earlier e-mail from Ernest telling me I needed to wait for the right opporunity and then had the word EXAMINE in captial letters for me.

You know, I was kind of wondering the same thing. I spent a LONG time pouring over all of it and was having trouble piecing it together. The only thing I've got is:

The site that broke the news is an amateur news site, and Ernest wants to break into journalism - so maybe we try to hook them up so he can report for them?

There's the animal theme - the stuffed animal heads and all - and their current theory is that it's an orangutan that did the crime.

Joy, another Twitter ARG... Everyone's posting their own internal monologue, like Twitter was intended to be! Wink

Cooky cast of characters, though. Murders at UTD... Brainwashing centipedes... Two of them have a thing for giant killer robots...

Oh, and a missing monkey. Posted on Craigslist:

Just got another reply.

Been looking for your prints, I guess I'll have to be "spy-like" and try following you around and pick up your empty coffee cups and take them from there.

Did you you know, here in England Dragonflies are linked with evil or injury. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open for them.

Hope you have better look finding a job.

Leon

Leon,

Nice to know I'll have fans looking after me. Didn't know that about dragonflies and England thank you for the info.
I'll be posting some pictures I took around town in a few days. Keep your eyes open, after all dragonflies can be dangerous,
according to you.

Best,
-Ernest

Any ideas.

Out of game: yeah, the class is developing three different "mini-ARGs." Not sure if that means there's piggybacking going on.

Certa: as to your email, since you only have one bolded letter and no italics, I'm thinking we might need to compare across communications on a macro-level to find the hidden message? I remember the italics in my email didn't make a whole load of sense...

Yeah I noticed the underscored n,o,p,e. I'm assuming an anagram of open. He also said to keep an eye out for the next blog post next week. Given the use of the word eye I am hoping that means that the blog post will have some clues in it.

Probably doesn't mean anything, but thought I should just mention that there's a kind of typo in the CV. Doesn't give any sense and probably was just a genuine typo, but..
