I received this e-mail and think there might be riddles to solve.
Greetings.

I have no idea if this is the right place (or if I'm even 'allowed' to post that in these forums at all) but I received an e-mail yesterday (see text below). Looks like there are some riddles to solve to finally find some information about a new game - probably an MMO since I like to play those and registered to some mailing-lists. I guess that's where this mail came from too.

In the mail, there's a link to a picture that shows a "secret" document with four lines of a poem (?) and some remarks in different languages. Honestly, I have no idea what to do next so I thought I ask you professionals. Smile I like the eerie feel of the e-mail and the story it might unfold when digging deeper into the mistery.

You don't know me, and I hesitate to call myself 'a friend' - that would be presumptuous.

I found your name on the forums, and based on what I read I decided to contact you.

I have uncovered something that worries me, and I want to get the word out before it's too late. You're going to think I'm crazy - that's fine. I've been called crazy before. Time will prove me right. For now, all I can do is speak up and hope that someone out there will listen. You're not the only one I've contacted today, and if you don't help me, someone else will - I'm sure of it. Just know that by helping me you will put yourself at risk. I will hold no grudge against you if you keep silent.

Through sources that must remain secret, I've located an ancient and potentially very dangerous document. I'll explain how it relates to you in a second. First I want you to see this document for yourself:

This is genuine. It's a digital reproduction of a document that has recently been uncovered in a place run by people of great power - people who don't want their secrets revealed to the world. Don't ask me how I discovered it - I won't tell. Others would get hurt.

There's a global conspiracy that threatens us all, one that goes back thousands - tens of thousands - of years, and this document is just a single piece of evidence of what these powerful people know, and what they have planned for the future.

But this is not why I write you.

I've learned that someone else has uncovered parts of this conspiracy, and plan to exploit it for commercial reasons by building a virtual world based on these dark secrets. I fear that this is ill-advised and dangerous. Some things must remain hidden - this is one of them. These people don't know what they're doing. By creating a game based on the information they have uncovered, they are opening Pandora's Box.

We need to get the word out NOW - to prevent them from digging too deep, and from revealing things that should remain hidden...at least until the world is ready for the Truth.

I know they plan to use the contents of this ancient document to spread the word about their game. Please, friend, I need your help, and the help of those that trust and listen to you. We need to reveal their plans before more sinister agents find out. We must let them know they are playing with fire...a fire that can burn us all.

I know this might sound absurd to you. After all, how can a GAME be dangerous? If you knew what I know, if you've seen what I've seen, you wouldn't ask that question. Information is a weapon, and in the wrong hands this information could be devastating to us all.

Please, I beg you, spread the word. Expose these people and their plans. By revealing their true intentions, we can at least make it appear to be 'just a game', rather than the dark and dangerous Truth that it truly is.

It is not too late...but we must act NOW.

My guess is, that through the info on the document, we should be able to find a website and maybe go on from there or find information about this new game. But I have no clue so far.

 		This may be a trailhead.

Some things I noticed on the paper.

There are messages in several languages. French, german, spanish for instance.

The german line means : something about a "War of Darkness"
The french line is something like : What is being said ? Who are the eight ?

The spanish line talks about the Illuminati. There is your 'people of great power'. Illumanti is also linked to 'The New World Order'.

Something else I noticed that there is the year (?) 2012 scribbled on the note. Also the sender signed with a date in 2012...

Those 4 lines are 4 symbols ? Does that lead to a new website ? I have no idea at the moment. Hope the other info helps somebody else.

 		I noticed that each of the 4 lines of the poem is an anagram of the same letters - aaacddegikmnorrsy:

It looks like the 4th line ends in a comma rather than a full stop. Maybe you need to find another anagram of these letters to make the 5th line? Confused

Again - not sure where this could lead to but hope it helps anyway.

 		I read 20121221 as 20th December 1221, which would make more sense for an 'ancient' document, supposedly connected to the Templars (that's the right sort of age for them.

There's an infinity symbol on the paper, next to the french writing. The sideways 8 figure.

Searching 'The Fourth Age' found me some nice satire on the 'unwritten Lord of the Rings' sequel. Also something serious about life after ring bearers, and a computer game called 'Fourth Age: Total War'.

Interestingly enough, December 2012 is supposedly the date of the dawning of the Fifth Age of man, the age of Aquarius, as according to the Mayans. If you read the date from the email the other way, as the 21st December 2012, then I suspect maybe that is what the page is hinting at, with the 'are we approaching' bit.

There's supposed to be a bit of a mini-apocalypse when that date comes, and some believe that the Age of Aquarius will herald a new dawn of peace, or something. We're in the Age of the Jaguar at the moment, in case you're interested.

EDIT: Some anagrams from the lines of the poem, that include 'age':

Dark Dry Masonic Age
Mayan Age (drid rocks - couldn't get that last bit to say anything meaningful though)

 		hmm... definitely suspicious...

First thing that came to mind with the document referring to "Knights Templar" was the recent news that Blizzard announced the development of a Starcraft MMO... could be a possible link

 		Taking a quick look at the document, the text at the top right corner says: "Amundsen fant det under isen" which is norwegian (or possibly danish) and translates into "Amundsen found it under the ice".

I don't think this is about StarCraft Online though. The feel of the e-mail doesn't fit StarCraft at all.

Those four lines in the document seem to be the main part IMO. But I don't know. Maybe they hint to an URL. Or four URLs?

Hmm, well, Amundsen was an explorer in the Arctic :/

Yep, I've been reading a bit about him. He was a Norwegian explorer and the first on the southpole (and some claim, the north pole). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roald_Amundsen

Thing is, I haven't got the slightest about what he found under the ice. I'm having a boring and slow day, so I think I'll keep poking around in this. Smile

 		If you do need a fifth anagram from those letters, then maybe the other clues around the edge are supposed to help you find what that might be?

You're not going to get a 'www' from it though, there's no 'w's in it! You might get a .com though.

aaaddegiknrrsy.com perhaps? But in a slightly more sensible order, obviously...

Roald Amundsen was a Norweigen explorer, who led the first successful expedition to the Antarctic between 1910 and 1912. There's an Amundsen sea, and an Amundsen glacier; possibly what is found under it could be water, or land. I'm curious as to how an 'ancient' document would know that though... Sarah is spot on, from all the conspiracy files logged in my brain cells, there are many dates detailing the end of the world, the Mayans believed this was 2012. Also theres some Alien profecy about alien contact happening in 2012 and various other things related to the number 2012.

Amundsen was the first to find the 'Northwest passage' Although someone else as probably mentioned this already, its taking me a while to type with a bandaged finger xD

Lots of things have been found under the ice of Antarctica, though as far as I know Amundsen didn't find any of them. They include:

A crater from a large bolide impact (on a par with the sort that wiped out the dinosaurs, apparently)
A warm water lake
Bacteria in the warm water lake (so thus life, of some description)
A large landmass that is the actual continent of Antarctica (it's also been suggested that this could be the lost continent of Atlantis: http://www.crawford2000.co.uk/Atlantis.htm)

Also, coming back to the text in French. Its who are 'les Huits', with a capital H. Huit is eight, certainly, but can you pluralise like that in French? If so, you're looking for the Eights. Googling 'The Eights' just gives me lots of sites about sports' teams at the moment. I'll keep searching... Smile
